Idea: An unbreakable head accessory for appearances only. <|:)

Recommended Posts

Everyone has favorite hats/helmets in the game, right? Mine are the original cat cap, red funcap, the original thulecite crown, the new pirate hats and some more. I just want to wear them without having to fix them frequently with a sewing kit or without losing durability for receiving damage, specially those hats that are hard to get or helmets that are expensive to craft.

This is why I propose this idea: what if we had a hat that doesn't break and copies the appearance of other hats/helmets, but it has no benefits like wetness protection, damage protection, insulation, etc? It could be like a rubber hat or polymorphing hat that takes the form of the hat/helmet it interacts with. The interacting part would be needed so you have to get the actual hat/helmet.

This would just be overly confusing in PvP (yes it’s a mode, and apparently yes Klei does very rarely do updates to tune for it.)

Unless it was available in the first 10 days or so, not really. From my experience with PVP (which basically died as a popular game mode in 2017) it's rare that a match would even last to Winter, it's a matter of quickly rushing around the world to get the best gear you can and then trying to kill anyone you happen upon.

I'm necroposting this post because I made it the same day as Wicker's rework and I believe it's too good to be overlooked or ignored. If I'm wrong I'll just let it die.

My only objection to an item like this is that it could discourage players to collect again the original items they want to copy. That's it for now.

Honestly i just wanna be able to look at wormwoods cool skins without wearing nothing. I just want an option to hide equipment (hat or armor or both) i spent time on this fashion and i wanna admire it

Also just disable it in pvp

The Clean Sweeper updating sprite builds always made me wonder why we can't have a lil menu we can pull up to just apply [Hand Slot], [Head Slot], & [Body Slot] skins.

Add a setting to disable it optionally or automatically when PvP is enabled, and viola.

What does it imply? To overlap with a skin every item that we equip? For example, make it seem like we are holding a dark sword when we are actually holding a walking cane? Because I'd love to hold a walking cane with the appearance of Terraprisma glass cutter or the Claymore thulecite club.

Vanity slots should be a thing like Terraria

YES!

There are SO many great skins in the game and 95% of the time they are going to end up covered by a football helmet or something, something like this would make things SO much better.

Well, then my question would be this:

Why buy a Football Helmet skin when the dope-ass Top Hat skin is just as much and could be worn over a helmet anyway?

As much as I like the idea of vanity slots, unfortunately with how the skins are in this game I feel like it would just not work here.

I wouldn't say it 'doesn't work'.

But yeah, it could have a negative impact on wearable skin sales.

Pantomimed football helmets, backpacks, and other common equipment. I can't find where, but I suggested that some time ago

it shouldn't really matter cause if that's a problem then klei would remove all character mods cause it could hurt the chance of dlc characters being sold or they would remove all mods adding new furniture then you have to get skins to reskin vanilla stuff, ect.

i think blocking the idea of vanity slots being a thing (which it would be great qol and actually make some skins useable like the garland skins :() for some pointless reason like that would be very sad and bad

I wouldn't mind vanity slots. Looking good and fashionable all the time would be real nice. On the other hand, it adds extra inventory slots to switch from one to another item. While I'd love it I am unsure if it's a decent or bad balance wise or not. Maybe not too bad, if it's just clothing items that are vanity and nothing more.

The enlightened crown fits that description yea? Infinite durability and doesn't take damage, as long as you're on a beefalo you don't need armor anyway. Plus it's my favorite headgear in the entire game (both in aethistics and functionality) so it works out for me lol.

Also hi Del!
