I have no incentive to change my circuits

Recommended Posts

I've been playing WX on the beta for few days, and the one thing that happened is I rushed ruins for the first time in my life (it was boring) because there were no rooks in the forest shard.

I've put in speed 2.0 and nightvision circuit aaaand that's about it. I've unlocked most of the other circuits, but I can't find it to bother with using anything else than what I have now.

Maybe it's my own flaw, maybe it says something about the rework.

Also Jimmy shuts off somewhere few screens away and i have to hammer him every time I relog.

I want to argue with you beacause I'm beefalo rider, so I don't need speed circuit

but then I realize there's little playable combination besides that since night vision circuit needs 4 slots and thermal/cold ciruit needs 3

nope, thats it. thats the rework.

once you get comfortable with magi, you wont even need moggles module. only 3x speed.

the sad part is its not even worth getting moggles, just rush ruins with a speed module plugged and two more in inventory which you then upgrade and plug.

so by day 6-9 you will have 3x speed up and running and never change or use jimmy or pliers  again

I think the chorusbox and thermal circuits are supposed  to be the insentive to change the speed boost and night vision. But since shells exist, thermal stone exist, most of the players will go to caves in summer, and WX has the same stats as the average character has, there's no reason to change them. The other circuits are very outclassed by those 2.
In fact, there are insentives to not change circuits, because they only lose durability when they are removed.

I think each module should have a small downside.

Some modules made stronger with a dowside to help balance them out and make you think about when to use them.

If the stat modules where made slightly stronger and with no downsides that would make them the most comfortable. For example the hardy modules adding 2 hp (1 slot module) and 5 hp (2.0 module) per food eaten.

While there is arguably the "best" circuit choices, I would argue people would choose their preferred sets of circuits, something that might be different from your choices. If you find this character boring, it's ok, I find some other characters boring too.

I don't think we should make him fun for everyone. The goal should be making him more fun for everybody compared to the old version.

I think it's more a matter of personal taste, I use them all, I know they could be better but that's it... Of course if there were 7 slots it would be much better to have more combinations...
Having immunity to winter/summer is perfect, not having to lose inventory with thermal stones or worrying about making fires/refrigerators for thermal stones is very good.
With 7 light slots + temperature circuits would be perfect xD

I really like how hassle-free WX can be now if you choose a generic setup, I'm happy to change circuits as little as possible.

Incentives for me to change my speed + health setup would probably involve long periods of sailing/fishing or spending multiple seasons in the caves.

even tho my undercard is semi semi semi semi semi semi semi semi semi ,however many times i said it, meta snob you don't have to constantly by it. I for sure don't. It's fun to try new things some time mixing and matching with em. Dst would be a very cut and dry game if all i ever did was try to be as efficient as humanly possible ever time.

I agree that it is partly a matter of my own character (where I like to do something once and be done with it) but I still think there should be at least a nudge to make people like me reconsider their choices. I don't have an idea for what that might be, though.

Also, I don't find WX boring, I find ruins rushing boring. Not my style of play, that's all.

I mean yeah, but if it just so happens that everyone chooses between 2-3 sets, then something might be wrong. (I don't know how the situation actually looks, but from what I've read I would assume it looks a bit like that)

Overall, I just wanted to write about my own experience since that's what beta is for. Thanks for all the replies, I'll think on the topic more when I play again.

As usual, I insist that players would be much more willing to make more changes & dynamic choices if WX is tuned to have below average stats (100 all like DSA), has a 7th slot to allow more combinations and nightvision is increased to 5 prongs so that illumination would be given a comparative advantage.

You are right but i think you should stop insisting, as should i and everyone else.

Its obvious klei doesnt care and implements stuff nobody asked for and are laughable ( recent all gear drop on death)

Which was REVERTED due to community feedback so saying "they don't care" is not only factually incorrect but also mean.

Klei on multipile occasions proved that they are one of few dev studios that actually cares about user feedback and suggestions.

They reverted the only meaningful change they made, a change that was so painfully bad one wonders who even thought of it, not to mention people went on and implemented the idea.

A change nobody asked for

Meanwhile they made no change to actual modules or slot numbers. Where they had dozens of pages of feedback

Curb your entitlement man .. this rework is still in BETA and as i said Klei at multipile occassions in the past did listen to feedback and tweaked things accordingly during the betas and after them aswell.

It's not instant and ofc they won't be able to please everyone.

if we listened to the suggestion of forumers we will all have mega power creep on all characters, and it would remove the point of the DST design

an extra slot is way more powerful than people think, everyone that suggests that has no idea about the game design klei are going for

I think they'd be doing all sorts of crazy stuff if they didn't have a pretty tight schedule and big expectations to live up to. They don't get to keep these betas around for too long, and really the minor balancing and polishing and smoothing out issues is likely more important to them than trying to see how a 7th slot would fit right now. I think the Wolfgang refresh was in a similar sort of boat, and then he got an update in the following QOL that sorted a lot of problems and put him into a better state. WX's new stuff just needs to look/feel good and be working as intended for now, and maybe there'll be some spare time between the beta and release (and those post-release patch days) for some slightly more demanding things.

And if there's a big enough outcry about their state by the end of the refresh, then they've learned from Wolfgang. A QOL update can sort things out in a beta.
