Middle skilled guide

Recommended Posts

Im not bad at the game, i easly survive winter, i can beat deerclops with no hits taken, i can find and beat klaus, but there is still many things that i dont know since i played before many updates, and there wasnt any fuelweaver or celestial champion. Do you have any guide that will help me to get EVERY single thing?

Like i watch speedruns but they kinda skip most of "boring stuff"

I really would enjoy guide that will tell me everything, also why my base on oasis is burning and there is no sandstorms, what to do and organise for every boss, what order of bosses is the easiest and most efficient one for me, i hope you get it.

Then your best guide will be "Live, fail, learn, repeat". The biggest source of information is your own experience

It's not a guide, but I have several playthroughs where I rushed a bunch of the bosses on twitch.

There's this one as Wolfgang where every boss died (excluding the Terrarria ones since they didn't exist at the time).

I have this one as Wurt that goes upto Pearled Crab King, which was the latest boss at the time.

There's this one as Wortox that goes up to FW (I played the world casually after this and then lost to PCK).

@GLERMZ also has a boss guide here that goes up to Crab King, but the CK one is outdated.

Please elaborate on "boring stuff". Is it stockpiling on resources? The speedruns, or boss fighting youtube videos in general, already lead to a good direction, giving you a chance to pay attention to details and how the phases can be played around. Watch the patterns, a lot of things are repetitive. First fights will always be stressful no matter what, try practicing bosses in a test world, where you can spawn in items if you're paranoid about losing all of your progress to the unknown. The more you practice, the more you'll develop your muscle memory to counter everything bosses throw at you, and eventually, you'll find such things a breeze to deal with.

Yeah I’ve played this franchise since it first came to Xbox and I STILL can’t fight Deerclops with no hits taken so congrats to you on that…

As for FuelWeaver he has always been in the game, it’s just not something I actively CARE to go do.

Thats what people seem to “not get” about this game- you don’t HAVE to do anything.. you don’t want to, and that rule goes triple true now that you can turn the content completely off

Well in another post I compiled a mostly satirical plan to do almost anything the game has to offer at this point. Each block represents the activities/events of the day. While it's extremely crammed, you're welcome to use it as a visual guide to what to aim for in general and what are some things you can aim for. Best of luck ^^

he was added at the end of ANR, isnt new but neither old

Again, has always been in my game- you couldn’t buy the Xbox version of DST without ANR already part of the game.

Not a new experience for me though- you also couldn’t buy DS on Xbox without Reign Of Giants already included.

So for “Me” and Anyone playing on Xbox- he has always been there: It’s just not something I care to hunt for & do.

I'm in a similar position to you - I'm middle skilled as you call it. The hardest boss I can beat somewhat competently is Bee Queen. I would second the Glermz boss guide mentioned above (link), that will tell you the basic strategy for most of the bosses in the game, just keep in mind the guide is for Wolfgang. Not sure who you play as.

As far as actually beating the bosses, I would use the Glermz guide as an intro and then create a sort of 'practice' server outside of your main one where you fight whatever boss you're trying to beat in your main server. Practicing the fight over and over is key. One strategy you could try is fight the boss a couple times on supergodmode to get a feel for the rhythm of the fight. Then, fight the boss normally (supergodmode not on). Give yourself all of the items you think you would need for the fight and over the course of a few fights, get the item configuration down and increase your comfortability. Jump back into your main server when you're ready and do the fight. It's not necessarily the most honorable way to do it, but it will save you some headache in your main server/world.

Play the game and you will have more fun than doing exactly what a video tells you

The problem with comments like these is that finding the content like this can be extremely difficult.

I am speaking from personal experience. I used to be in a position back in circa 2018 where all I knew was Reign Of Giants and all I knew was how to kill was Deerclops and how to survive a full year. I didn't even know that the ruins existed or that there was an Adventure Mode.

Then I learnt about Twitch and eventually stumbled into a streamer who knew a lot more than me; ItsTheCheapest. They no longer play, but he used to have open worlds and subscriber worlds (which I was). I learnt an unfathomable amount of the game from playing with him and made friends that I still interact with today. He introduced me to all the raid bosses and all the other content in the game at the time and since then I got hooked.

If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't still be playing the game today; I simply would have quit because I would have run out the easily encouterable content, as I simply didn't know that this content existed.

So for the case of OP asking for help in exploring the content, I really do suggest the links I suggested earlier, if only the Wolfgang and Wurt playthroughs.

It's long yes, but it does display a lot of the boss killing techniques as well as the content that you are looking for.

You can play the streams back at 1.5 or 2x speed too to speed it along as well.

same with me

i knew there was more content because of the trailers but didnt really understand how to get into the content (to be honest, 70% was me being dumb not understanding the hints from the trailers) but thankfully ifound some boss rush by accident from joescoolstuff so i spoiled the that parts of the game because i was tired of playing with my friend on a 500days world where we didnt know what else we can do and survival was beaten (full chest of red gems and tons of amulets lying arround...)

the only thing we "did" by our own was klaus and i said "did" because the fight ended pretty quickly when someone (maybe was me xD) convinced the group with the awesome idea of "kill the deers first"

also why my base on oasis is burning and there is no sandstorms

I’m assuming you play without world altering mods and on default settings.

If your base burns in oasis and you play alone I’d say it was a fire hound that exploded near a structure or an item that spread the fire. Sandstorms won’t put out fires, they only prevent wildfires from starting out of nothing. Sometimes fire hounds spawn slightly off screen and may get distracted attacking other mobs or walls. EG: Maybe one spawned near your friendly pigs and pigs will most likely kill the hound and cause a fire.

Sandstorms also happen only during summer, and if it’s summer and there is no sandstorm it’s most likely because it’s raining, or it rained very recently and the world has high wetness. Even though during rains or with high world wetness wildfires won’t happen, the previous comment about fire hounds still apply: they can still burn your whole base regardless of rain.

My suggestion: Even if you base at oasis cover some important areas in flingos just for emergencies, you don’t even need to leave them on at oasis. And try to always face fire hounds in a fireproof area, or at least an area covered with an active flingo.

sandstorms only appears during summer and only protects from wildfires if you are inside the dessert and protects everything on screen, even if is a biome outside of the dessert.

If you are outside things can catch of fire inside of the dessert so be careful when you enter or exit the oasis dessert, try to do it only at dusk or night since wildfires only happens during daytime

I mean like they dont say anything about stuff they are doing, they are just doing some things without explanation

i cant seriously tell what i dont know but i just have feeling that i dont know what to do after doing something

firstable i play with my friends and one of them is just a guide guy that makes everything we just need to do something like farm kill bosses (he plays wanda so he deals most of damage anyways) but hes doing everything slowly and safe so i made my own world

its like day 15 i have found oasis i have at least 5 spider camps as wigfrid so its not bad meat farm but they annoy me at dusk so much, my plan now is to find beefalos because i didnt find any which is weird, i need them for beefalo hat for winter and then maybe beat deerclops and now what, make my base better, i really just want action and fight everything, maybe ill do eyebrella for spring and then atack eye of cthulu or prepare walls for dragonfly

i know but there is no sandstorms on summer, i waisted time for fishing blueprint, and i have wildfires on oasis which is weird, i wasted so much time for spaming space so my base wont burn and my friend make some ice shooters around base and farms, i did not change anything than adding mods like extra equip slots, infinite tents or unbreakable thermal stone, i also set gecko morphing for none because guide friend asked me to do that

your problem, a problem that many have (included myself) is organazing your year to farm the things you need and ignore things that only takes your time. That comes iwth the experience since each playstyle needs differnt routes but watching playthrows or commented summarized playthrows to get an idea of which things do first and what to do after, etc

is normal, just takes time

Lesson of Life: doesn't matter how good you are, there will always be someone who is better

and as I said, you'll get more information you need from your own experience than from someone else's, because other people may play different than you want

can you share me your map? maybe the sand storm is bugged in certain areas of the oasis

wow seriously im that talented? tbh i think that i have just better internet, turn off this thing that makes you predict moves instead of showing you where server thinks you are, find a road or a walking cane, hits up to 4 hits and run, i use batlle songs after and thats it, 4k hp its that easy

well he wanted to turn that off because this geckos do something that i didnt understand but i didnt ask him third time because i didnt want to annoy him

-turn off grass gecko morphing and rest on default, we have extra equip slots so its already much easier

-they still be there? its literally free grass

-yeah sure but they wont do *incomprehensible* if you turn that option off
