Hey @JoeW I’m kinda curious man, In general how long (in your best estimated guess) are Klei/DST betas intended to last?

Im asking because I’ve actually been part of a few closed alpha, closed beta, and then public beta testing for games & those tend to take quite a bit of time before releasing to the public branch.

Multiversus which released publicly last year, removed from the store and then rereleased this May anyone who played prior to May was considered to have played “Beta”

I saw a post where another Klei dev had stated that frostjaw changes weren’t going to make it in in time for this beta, but that just makes me even more curious of what your guys time schedule even is.

If they said it’s not making it in then that would mean you have a deadline to get the current beta out or something right?

Otherwise… why not just take all the time in the world that you guys need to tweak and fine tune and add, test or remove beta features before LATER releasing to the live branch?

I can wait I have no problem with waiting…

But I thought betas in general were to test experimental features (like letting players in beta play with a Wurt that can Swim before deciding to keep or remove that feature.)

Software engineers have a manager like this in their nightmares

You don't ask a woman about her age, a man about his salary, or a software engineer how long he estimates until a project is done.

Pretty sure the beta is 99% finished, klei just needs to work on the othet 99% :)

Did someone else have weird / ridiculous misconceptions before they saw lore-videos / read lore texts?

E.g. for years (actually until I bought Hamlet and returned to playing DST in the same year) I didn't know there were more animated Don't Starve Videos than forbidden knowledge and the video of the last stage perfomance from the William Carter puzzle. So an example of my two most ridiculous misconceptions that I had before finding the Klei Youtube account with the animated character shorts and lore videos in general: I thought Wortox was the baby Krampus and Wagstaff was future Wilson.

Also I have been a member of this forum for a long time but I had never actually been reading any posts here since recently so I basically didn't know gorge and forge existed, so reading about them here for the first time, I literally thought those were standalone games / DLCs, I didn't know events existed.

Also for years I have only used the DS wiki to look for character quotes and art stuff, which is why I still don't know lots of game mechanics and feel often overwhelmed in this forum.

Anyway I'm glad there is a method for fans like me who were on a longterm hiatus from DST (actually I left the game when Charlie took over the throne, then returned when I saw this year it's easy to find modding tutorials for the multiplayer game) to still find back their way into the fandom and learned about characters that happened to not be my mains without being outcasted / eaten by the fandom community for literally living in the game's past.

Yes, it comes from grass. They look for plants to infest, same as sheep or other animals looking for plants to consume

Shouldn't it be "grazier" then?

Also grazers don't actually graze plants.

but grazers don't graze or interact with plants at all?

Oops my bad I was thinking of the Brightshade Gestalts. You're right in that they don't interact with plants, but they wander around as animals do when looking for food? That's the only reasonable answer I can give. Unless their name is a pun (since klei usually likes to use them) and I can't see it.

Does getting the potato cup react make anyone else hungry for a loaded baked potato? No.. just me? Alrighty then..

It's well-known potato magic that potato cup automatically puts a hungry-for-baked-potato spell on everyone. EVERYONE!

Has anyone else seen this Don't Starve Lego Set(consider supporting it. it looks amazing)? Is its creator a forum user?

I haven't even heard of this, its looks good though

That huge spider :'3 I wonder how people create those custom lego figures (Wilson in this case but also the pig). There is so much love and detail in here, I adore it! I adore toys in general, but for fandom stuff then only if they actually look closely to the fandom they license which in if this idea was created would be the case. (usually I try not to collect fandom stuff but if this would be made it would probably become my 3rd exception to get DS toys)

I am not a big fan of fandom merch (since I try to keep the fandom focused on its core elements, e.g. the game) but in Klei's case I am unusually in favour of it. (considering how DS at least from my POV isn't known for draining player's wallets in comparison to other fandoms they are ALLOWED to release toys / other stuff too I suppose, but for me only toys are interesting)

Why do the characters have examination quotes for dancing shadow puppets ( a major part of my favourite set of quotes in the wiki) but sadly when I /try/ to examin shadow puppets via force inspect in game there is no option for inspecting them. (in contrast I can easily force attack the poor shadow puppets)

(neither when I try to spawn in a shadowdancer via console just for this purpose.)

It's so sad when the best stuff is hidden in the game code only.

What does the name "grazer" mean? Is it graze as in herding sheep?

There are two meanings to the word "graze" that I think would apply to grazers.

- To graze can mean to feed on grass. This usage of the word can also mean to snack on non-grass foods.

- To graze can also mean to lightly touch/scrape something.

We also know that grazers put things to sleep before attacking them. Maybe they "graze" on your character after they put them to sleep. Maybe they are called grazers because they "graze" the ground when they move.
