Hello fellow survivors!

I have a question. Do you also experience a unusual gear gains from tumbleweeds, or am I just lucky? In past weeks, everytime I visited dragonfly desert, I was returning with at least two pieces of "guts of those nasty maschines". I just dont believe that 2% chance dstwiki claims to be there.

Here's the current loot table of the tumbleweeds, gears is the second starting by the end, chance = 1, nothing have changed.

This is specific work of probability.

Dude this is me too!  Well, now that I've said that it'll never happen again : P but it seems every time I find a desert, one of the very FIRST tumbleweeds I pick will have a gear.  I'll usually find one sometime during the first day after reaching the biome, at least.

And it also appears to be "genetic", because the first time I played DST with my brother, I found a wormhole and jumped into it (to demonstrate how they worked).  I came out and was like "Ooh, the desert!  This is good actually.  There's good stuff in deserts."   And I started picking tumbleweeds.  My brother copied me, and, I swear, the VERY.  FIRST.  TUMBLEWEED he picked, _ever_, in his entire DST career, had a gear.  He was so new to the game he didn't even _know_ they're very important and annoying to find!  When I told him he was just like, "Really?  Huh."

...now THAT is some stupid-epic Beginner's Luck.  XD

...Notorious

I once made a custom game to test a few things, picked the very first Tumbleweed I saw, and found a yellow gem inside.

I also had a 2x Gears, 1x Foliage Tumbleweed recently.

Its most likely luck of the draw. Probability can sometimes be on your side and give you a bunch of rare thing repeatedly over a short time, or over a very long time. I would suggest to revel in your luck now before it betrays you again.

The drop chance might look really low on paper, but you have to remember: the drops are being rolled 3 times per tumbleweed. And tumbleweeds are fairly abundant (Unless someone else just cleared most of them out). So finding anything with a chance of 1 really isn't that difficult.

Yeah, clearly founding gears in tumbleweed is nothing but very common, tumbleweeds mostly appear by group of 5, you're mostly about to loot ~ 2 gears per day if you farm all your tumbleweed spawners in the desert (make sure no one escape their spawn so the spawner will create new tumbleweeds).

It's how i get my early gears before going in ruins, since I don't want to kill my surface clockworks.

Imagine if there was 1% chance to find Krampus sack in Tumbleweed. Now that would be the real luck.

Speaking of which, the first time I killed a Krampus, I got a Krampus Sack.

(Which I promptly gave to a friend because he was distracting Krampus for me.)

Lucky. The first time I saw a sack drop, @GetNerfedOn killed the Krampus, picked it up, and mocked me with it for hours.

I promptly stole it at the soonest opportunity.

On that note, luck in DST may vary very much wildly.

On the Sanctuary server, which we consider to be one of the luckiest - if not THE luckiest, we have recieved:

 - 2 Krampus Sacks without farming or Klaus drops

 - 7 sprouting stone fruit

 - 2 Triumphant heads (wendy and wes)

and have not had a Tam O' Shanter drop until about day 200+.
