minespatch
I was wondering if the pips and trees are out of sight in the terra biome. I managed to find the crabs but Pips are nowhere to be seen. I can only get the acorns and pips through the carepackage in my current gameplay so far. If not, I'll restart my game and go to Verdante next. TheEvilMango
U can get both but it may take a couple hundred cycles as u can get them from the pod but unless u r wanting to cheese the RNG by saving and quiting when u have a charge on the pod (which cuases the items to be rerolled) it will take some time. I'll stick to making a new base in Verdante, but thanks.
Rhogar
You can breed pips and use them to propagate acorns. Prune the branches every branch growth cycle or so, each one has a 5% chance of giving a seed when a pip has it's way with it.

I’ve had wild and then domesticated pips go at 3 wild arbor trees for 300 cycles without getting any seeds. The trees are set to auto harvest. Next up would be to domesticate the trees and see if that helps. Are you sure this is the case?

For example arbor seed, it can be from Care package Pips rummaging on arbor tree Uprooting arbor tree Discovering arbor seed on "buried object" in the forest biome Outer space (using rocket with cargo), which for arbor seed is from specific kind of planet: Living Planet On terra, there is no arbor tree by mapgen and no forest biome, but all other options still viable. Verdente has forest biome which makes all options available. Oh one more thing, planet generation is also random by mapgen. There is 22 types of planet and we get around 25 (more or less). Sometimes we get Living Planet among them, but sometimes not. 42 minutes ago, Nickerooni said: I’ve had wild and then domesticated pips go at 3 wild arbor trees for 300 cycles without getting any seeds. If you want more, you need to prune the tree. IIRC for every branch pruned it will increase 5% chance to add acorn. Pips will come rummaging again if there is acorn available inside (which as far as I know we cannot see it before dropping).

So the only way to get more Arbor Acorns from an existing Tree is for Pips to create them from the tree for you?
abud
Yes. There is no other ways as far as I know. Uprooting the entire tree itself still get new acorn of course, but no one will do that.

Yeah, it's a time intensive thing to get pips and acorns from care packages alone.
minespatch
Sorry for Necroing but I tried Oceania today and couldn't find pips there either.
Soulwind
Pips and trees only spawn in the forest biome. If the asteroid doesn't have any forest biome then the pod care packages or the living planet are the only way to get them.
0xFADE
I’ve gotten both from care packages on a map that didn’t start with any.

The pips don’t find enough branches to eat that way. If you disable that and wait for the pips to eat the branches you should get plenty of them. Worked great for me, I am at cycle 400 now and drown in seeds. I also had a pip and a tree spawned together in a natural cave, that alone gave me quite some seeds when I finally dig into it. PhailRaptor
There does seem to be some sort of unlock requirement to get both Pips and Arbor Acorns on, for example, a Terra asteroid. I was only just offered a Pipsqueak for the first time last night, at cycle ~130. The singular Arbor Acorn I have was offered by the pod around cycle ~80. Verdantte, Arboria, Aridio, and Oasisse are the asteroids that start in Forest biomes. Rime has forests as random spawns around the map, however there are no pips in them. If a bug was fixed, also no arbor trees.
