I've been lurking here and there ;) Truth be told, aside from old bugs re-discovered and complaints directed at the devs - the forums have been a little stagnant. @Denisetwin I wish you all the best in your future epic project :D

After all the hundreds of hours I have in this game, this is the first seed I've played where a volcano is close to my main base where it could even be used.  I've never even tried a volcano build and three are a little intimidating, LOL

Good Grief - still exploring this same seed - you can see one of the three volcanoes in the far right of this image - look what just dug up on the far left - again, less than a screen from start.....  This is the first time ever I've seen a hot steam vent.....

Just as a little FYI: Every world with the trait "Volcanoes" spawns with those biomes (subworlds) which surround the starting perimeter

(even though the trait itself reads that one should have 3 units of distance from the starting base while the other two are below surface and above the magma, 1 unit max)

and they contain 2-3 Volcanoes each while they number altogether 8 (so usually 2*3 and 1*2).

I have yet to see one or more replaced by anything, probably because the subworld has the tag NoGlobalFeatureSpawning (so no random geysers or boulders&alike)

I had no idea!  Thank you, so each one with Volcano trait will have three next to start?

As far as I did test, and I sure did generate plenty of worlds, including that trait, the answer is weirdly enough: Yes, though if unlucky (or lucky) it is only two.

One should be located anywhere but 3 units near the base yet (min: 3, max: 999) yet it was always that close to home. If I had to guess, there simple is no other free space. Just like how my currently defunct mod had trouble with limited point of view "slots" and the oil biomes in QoL3 sometimes not having random buried geysers.

By the by, it is only Rime which has 5 of those big volcanoes (often clustered together) in the magma biome down below. Unless of course you got a Frozen Core or a mod which I am preparing (to improve both cores) but am troubled over whether I can release it or not.
