Mday
To repair the vortex cloak, 1 nightmare fuel = 5% = 22.5 damage absorbed. Night armor on the other hand cost 5 nightmare fuel to craft and has 750 HP. So 1 nightmare fuel = 150 damage absorbed. 1 Hit from terrorbeak = 50 damage= 2 nightmare fuel to repair the vortex cloak. If for every hit you received from terrorbeak you get to kill 2 or more of them, you are in net gain of nightmare fuel, without any HP lost(thanks to 100% damage absorb). Now you can take a hambat and kill shadow monsters for days. No need for healing/ other armor supply.

The Vortex Cloak doesn't loose durability if a Terrorbeak hits you while wearing this backpack armor, you just take 100% of the damage dealt to you because it's a Shadow Creature and the Vortex Cloak doesn't block damage from Shadow Creatures. TheOnlyGuyEver
It's definitely better since the buff, but I just use Thulecite Crowns instead, especially since we now have a 3rd DLC which I can use to continually reset the Ruins.

I use Crowns as my Head Armor as well, but ever since the buff I have worn the Vortex Cloak almost EXCLUSIVELY in my chest slot due to the fact that attacks don't stun you while wearing it, even at 0%. Alexias
Stun immunity is amazing as it doesn’t durability to work, it’s powerful for wig and wolfgang as they keep dealing more dmg without interruption. The only thing i dislikes that It take backpack slot which mean you can’t put it in your inventory and make hard to choose between krampus sack and the cloak. SilverBisexual
I love it for ruins raiding. It and bundling wraps are great.
oCrapaCreeper
I’m surprised people still give it crap still. It’s a backpack that gives you pseudo-godmode and makes you immune to stuns even if it has no durability. Any character can use it now without a sanity drain, though of course Maxwell still benefits the most.
