Junksteel
Yesterday I built my first ore scrubber just for the sake of doing it. I found out that it is pretty useless compared to a simple room filled with chlorine. Does it have any uses I'm missing? It would be a good idea to scrap it in benefit of a faster way to decontaminate gasses, not solids. I guess no one will miss ore scrubber... Lacost
Is it useless? Yes... The only real use it has is to decontaminate algae from algae distillers so your base doesn't get flooded with slimelung. But because algae distillers are terrible in their own way and there are far better builds out there to decontaminate slime/algae, there is no reason to use ore scrubbers. bmilohill
I've never made one. They added the scrubber in at the same time as germs, the builds were simpler then, understanding of chlorine was lower. We were such children. Until they make the scrubber the only way to kill sporechild germs I doubt I would ever build one. 6 minutes ago, Lacost said: The only real use it has is to decontaminate algae from algae distillers so your base doesn't get flooded with slimelung. But even this assumes you have your distillers in your base. If given the option between having the distillers outside the base, or instead building a scrubber outside the base so the distillers can be in... Edit: Though I would add, I do think useless buildings are a good thing. I'd much rather have 100 buildings that do different things but only 20 of them are optimal than have a game with only 20 buildings. Coolthulhu
It has a use: tricking new players into wasting time on it instead of learning how to play. goboking
Chlorine is tagged as toxic, and flammable. If Klei ever does anything with those properties then those of us using ore scrubbers will graciously welcome those of you using chlorine-filled storage rooms with open arms. Bah, atmosuits will suffice. And if it doesn't, they're only dupes. Denisetwin
I built my first one base before this as I had never tried it before and I've played a looong time. I had slime in a container in a chlorine room as usual and I set the permissions on the ore scrubber so that it was only used on the way OUT of the room. I thought of it as a fail safe, if a dupe had just brought a germy slime into the room and right after a second dupe grabbed said slime to take to the mushroom farm, the ore scrubber would keep the germs out of the farm. In reality it was rarely used. Once in a while, but rarely. It wasn't really worth it. It needs to be buffed or made to be used without that long dupe animation. I'd be much more worried for those of us with Oxygen filled bases...
