Any reason why I should replant the spore flower in the future?

I had to raise a brow at seeing the spore flower among the potted plant suggestions. Why would I need to use it in the future? Seems kind of dangerous.

Well, how ELSE can you start the zombie apocalypse? =^.^=

It would indeed be neat if there was actually a use to this "flower" just for the sake of "poison and medicine are two sides of the same coin" kinda thingy.

To be more concrete, it should be able to blossom and be harvested, plus having seeds, like other plants. This in return makes it usable for recipes and all sorts of shenanigans. Apart from maybe being able to cure the very disease it causes, it could serve as performance-enhancing drug among other high-value possibilities that justify the risk and preparation for farming it safely.

Anyone know what`s the decor stat of that plant? Maybe it`s worth to plant it in zones where dupes walk in atmo suits.

Maybe they`ll add a sealed plant box with a glass bowl preventing the spores from spreading. Could ba laso used for the buddy bud so that allergic dupes could get to experience the decor.

Perhaps there is a planned use for release? I wouldn't mind seeing a cure that also infects the dupe and maybe the nurse making it pill as well. Such as you have to risk zombification to yourself and the pill maker in order to be cured of fatal radiation poisoning.

Based on the flowering animation and the germs produced, I assumed it was going to be a traditional plant whose fruit or flower would be used in a new, high-end food or medicine.  Given the severity of the germs it produces, it makes no sense as a decor plant.  Based on the fact that it's currently located in a biome we traditionally send dupes in exosuits (and thus protected against its germs) into that it's been temporarily placed in the oil biome for playtesting purposes and that it will eventually be placed in one of the new biomes.

Not sure about how every diseases interacts with an other one, but here are some observations:

  • Airborne food poisoning is a good way to kill slimelung. (Just use water straight out of a "lavatory/water sieve loop" on your electrolyzer.)
  • Seems sporechild is the ultimate diseases killing everything else in that atmosphere^^

Floral scent is imo even better. Putting a single buddy bud at the netrance to the slime biome and next to your slime storage (along with a deodorizer) eliminates the slimelung threat from your base completely.

News to me. I'll add that to my chlorine room next.

You don`t even need chlorine. As you can see the slimelung can`t spread outside the storage bin.

Just make sure your allergic dupes aren`t allowed close.

Nice! That also somewhat explains why allergies are not trivial to deal with.
