Winona Is A Pick-n-drop Character, Period

Recommended Posts

Ok Winona is a pick-n-drop character, in some people's opinion. I somehow agree.

As a player who prefers wig's bloodthirsty play style, I also think

Spoiler
  1. Wickerbottom is pick-n-drop. Picking her once will provides
    • years of grass and twig supply from grass farming
    • chests full of papyrus, stacks of 40
    • one time sack farming
    • reed traps
  2. Willow is pick-n-drop. Since I only need 50 healthy Bernies.
  3. Wendy is pick-n-drop, I only want sanity station.
  4. Woodie is pick-n-drop, I only want him to farm logs and spawn tree guards.
  5. Maxwell is pick-n-drop, I only need him to kill toadstool, maybe also farm rocks and petrified/normal trees.
  6. Webber is pick-n-drop, I only want him for silk farming
  7. Wolfgang is pick-n-drop, cuz I wanna kill all the bosses in the next few days
  8. As someone who isn't main Wigfrid, he/she will think Wig is pick-n-drop, for hundreds of helmet, people do that.
  9. Wes is too, I just want balloon, kidding.
  10. Sorry wilson, you are just too boring to me lel.

In conclusion, every player has their preferred play styles, and anyone can be treated as pick-n-drop from some perspectives. In that sense, Winona is not worse. she's about the same.

Since everyone got the chance to express their opinions regarding Winona, I wanna join the trend. It's not complaining, I'd like to see it more like brainstorm.

1. crafting with half cost: NO, that's too op. I'm thinking it will be reasonable that she can refine (refinery tab) at reduced cost. So [3 logs => board], [2 rocks => cut stone], [2 grass => rope], [3 reed => papyrus], [2 moonrock => cratered moonrock], [5 evil flower => nfuel], [89 Periodic => thick fur], you get the idea.

2. 1 min reset for hunger penalty is too easy. Maybe reduce to 30s or 15s or 5s. Which means, one session of non-stop crafting cost 5 hunger, considering you need time to find crafting materials in chests. Maybe 5s is too short, but 1 min is too long.

3. all her special structures should be weakened, so they won't get spammed in early game, but upgradable by gears later in the game. For example, spotlight + 1 gear = +1 light spot and + 10 range. catapult + 1 gear = +5 damage. And they can be further upgraded. When hammered, half of installed gears gets returned. Install gears on generators will activate on-off switch. (LOL I can't let the idea of switch go)

no you arent a wig main. if so you woudnt ever say webber is good for silk. just kill all spiders in the first 10 days(except in swamp) and you have like 200 silk. bit later you kill bunnies in caves (so easy with wig. sometimes i even dont switch from hammer to weapon. i just hammer the house and kill the bunnies with the hammer) and make a bunnie silk farm.

wickerbottom need to be picked and dropped a lot. i need her evry1-2 years for grass and twigs(ive a grass lure farm). also her tentacles at bee quuen can last maximum 2 bee queen fights. so you need to renew them

willow is useless. you get tons nightmare from wicker.

wendy is a killer machine if you know how...

woodie is the most useless.

maxwell is often needed to pick and drop for mining and chopping. hes best chopper. better then bearger, weather pains and toadstool for choppping. also mining with him all stalagmite in caves is very easy. and he can survive with just 2 honey stacks very long in caves.

wes and wilson useless

wolfgang is... better just pick another wig :PPPPPP

@BeliarBAD same goals can be accomplished in many ways and sometimes many are efficient. I agree that webber is not really needed if wig needs to get like some silk. But webber can do the same thing but much much faster. like much much faster with spider fights. Especially he can managing all levels and location of spider dens. But again, with a bunny spider farm, webber is not really needed at all. I mentioned webber I felt the need to make everyone look like that.

Willow's bernie is useful if you harvest reeds or grass twigs by yourself, (until you have fw' helmet). It just saves time and make things easier. But it's optional. But again, I need to mention her.

Wendy is mob killing machine, but when it comes to bosses or bunny farm, abigail suicides so much. And carrying a lot of abi's flower in already limited inventory for boss fight is not so fun. That's just my play style.

Woodie is pretty useless in comparison to maxwell, but I think his looks and behavior is funny, and provides a quite unique play style. Efficiency is one way to look at him, but I would say he's fun to play, my brain likes him.

I see a lot of discussion is about whether a character is useful. That's one way to look at it especially when for example, we are ambitious. But for some others (not me, i'm ambitious and like to talk about efficiency), they are probably casual players and don't wanna dig so deep into games. If someone find a character fun to play and find it has a distinctive play style that their gaming side likes, then that character has value to stay. For me, when a lot of people think wig is useless except for batter helmet, I find her very very fun, because the hp&sanity +1+2 recovery sound in her battle gives my brain very satisfying rewarding feedback, and I'm addicted.  And I've developed a significantly different play style for her from other characters. I think that's one aspect to consider when it comes to a character's usefulness.

Let every character have an aura perk which give a buff to someone else. Winona really lacks a uniuque perk that helps the whole team (by bye repair perk :(). Now there wouldn't be a real reason to pick-n-drop and this would develope more coop play. Winona could decrease the tool and weapon use of near friends. Boom, we have now 120 uses on a normal axe. I hope you get what I mean.

The aura feel fit to her backstory. Under the direction of Winona everyone is better worker. I think her play style is pretty unique, imagine in cave with spotlight and plenty of gem and nitre. That's one unique thing she can do.

yea i agree it depends on play style and what you like. i hate wolfgang. its because of eating.ive no problem to gather lots food but you have to eat it evry few minutes. you have to stand still and rightclick on the food. and this all the time. and his transformation makes me crazy. i hate him so much. wig is like heaven. she doesnt have any annoying mechanic.

but thats just my opinoin!!!!! i also never could play wendy. its just the sounds abby does all the time. it makes me headache

Feeding Wolfgang gives me OCD, makes me agitated. And Wendy makes me depressed. LOL not my thang

Wortox has the possibility to be a pick and drop character but I doubt it.

My reasoning is that players could simply set up a spider farm, let him collect the souls, and then go fight a boss and get a good healer.

But I don’t think he’ll be treated as a pick and drop...

cuz who doesn’t want one

FLUFFY BOI

I feel like making interesting characters that are fun and diverse is more important than worrying about favoritism or elitism playing into someone switching around characters. I honestly feel Winona's character was limited from conception being a pretty normal lady, so I feel the unique constructs was a good direction to take her. To be honest, I feel even Wilson can offer more than her cause he has that quirky weird scientist thing going on.
