How much of a difference is noted between beta branch and release for QOL MK2?

Hey Guys,

I found negligible difference between the beta branch for QOL MK2 and the released final version of QOL MK2.

FPS difference is about 10-15% only for me.

Did anybody else face the same issue?

Please post specs as well for reference

FPS difference between Preview and Live version is due to additional debug processes running in the background, which the latter does not have.

Why QoL1 may run better than QoL2 might be due some features being added and tweaks being made, however considering that in terms of performance this:

  • Duplicant pathfinding now runs multithreaded
  • Pathfinding and Brain Updates can be run across multiple frames, to prevent large paths from tanking framerate
  • Transfer Arms now only process items once per frame, instead of once per arm

has been done, performance should be better, unless there is a problem with one. I'd bet on the multi-threading to possibly not sit well with some setups or the pathing preventing serious tankings (due to jetsuits) but generally making framerate worse.

It may be due to I do strict mono-pathing set ups where there's one and only one way to get from point A to point B on the map. That improved performance immensely on all previous updates but now that pathing is multi-threaded the overhead involved with that maybe working against performance in my specific case.

For me :

- Lower performance compared than the preview

- More bug : artefact display, ladder can't be changed, new bugs, etc.

- Nothing new with the release patch (the others patchs always added some new content with the release version)

I know we are on a new era with the performances / bug fix are the priority but I don't get better performance compared Mk1 and feel that Mk2 is a very lazy patch (not that much fix and tiny content), Mk1 was really more filled.

 

I really hope Klei will work more on the next patch, maybe the delay problem and the Epic store added impacted the work on this version. Klei do a great work on the game globally, but I remain on my hunger with this patch.

Which beta branch do you mean?

The difference between the first beta branch and the last beta branch is always significantly bigger than the difference between the last beta branch and the first live version.

Dont forget, there are only three workdays between the last beta branch and the first live version.

Yes but there are no differences, it seems, except they removed some of the debugging and reverted some of the formerly fixed issues.
