Cheat mods...

Hum , I just wanted to know if I was the only one whose begin to worry about all kind of "cheat mods" that appears on the steam workshop... I mean, just seeing those mods makes me sad for this kind of game.

What do you care how _others_ play the game?

Since when you should care about how other play their game? I do love mods, almost all games I play I use mods. Yes, some of them may seem like cheat to you and also seem like improvement done by players to me or others. So being sad is a bit too much for this. Just play your game and have fun, thats what surely klei and modders want for us.

Sandbox mode also makes you sad? ;)

Absolutely yes. When hundreds of newbies say to me that Klei created sandbox mode to encourage us to cheat, so why not play in super easy mode and abuse exploits, I stop teaching, writing guides, reporting new exploits or focusing on how to fix them. After all, Klei has ignored exploits reported by me for a long time. And aImost no one care about exploit fix mods.

So ideally the game should be fun for everybody who wants to play it. With a proper difficulty setting people could make the game fit their needs and the sandbox could be great for exploring what the game has to offer without having to progress manually throughout the game. Some people want the late game tech now instead of playing the whole game to get there and it`s fine. If we had the game more balanced mods like this wouldn`t be needed.

We still have some balance updates ahead of us. More difficulty settings could come in. Maybe an immortal dupe mode for beginners (make them incapacitated but never die and eventually recover even from suffocation). Then fix some of the exploits that make the game too easy in certain aspects and we would have quite a variety of difficulty in the game.

Sounds good to me. And anybody that wants to "cheat" (which is conceptionally impossible in a single-player game, cheating is usually defined as something along the lines of "breaking of rules to gain unfair advantage in a competitive situation") will still be free to do so. Making "cheating" harder will just turn people that want to do it away from the game. Remember that this is entertainment, not a proof of skill.

Don't get me wrong, I think people cheating in multiplayer should be banned for life, if possible for all games of that publisher or platform. But that is a different situation. These people are destroying the fun _others_ could have in the game.

And me stupid always have thought that sandbox mode is to test builds or game mechanics. There are still plenty of people who want a survival experience. Why focus on the cheaters or even care about them in a single player game?

But the fact is you can find lots of super easy mod easily, and when I released my mod to fix some exploits, people asked me "which wrong with the current game?"
