Need a filter for sweep orders

This game really needs the ability to filter what gets selected for sweep selections.

Because having to pick out slime from a bunch of other things is quite a time waster. (Just an example btw)

 

EDIT: As it seems I didn't explain well enough:

I mean having a filter for the sweep tool itself. Like you controlling what is and isn't selected when you drag over stuff.

so a ui like compactors that when you click sweep lets you select what to sweep

Yeah I agree, this is something I've thought about before as well.  Say for example, you're reworking an area of your space base, and have a bunch of precious tungsten sitting around that you'd like to sweep up.  But then, it's also surrounded by tons and tons of regolith.  So you then have to pick out each individual piece of tungsten to mark it for sweeping.  Huge pain in the butt.

I can see the value in a filter but I'm not sure I would even use it. I don't have any issues with the current system as whenever I'm sweeping an area it's not because I want that material but because I want the area to be at a higher decor value. That being said, If you didn't care about the decor and were just trying to remove slime from an area without wasting dupe time sweeping everything, then this makes total sense.

I give my gopher dupes the same relatively high storage, tidy, and supply task priority. Most of my compactors have below default priority. When I want slime put away, I don't need to bother with a sweep order: I just crank up the priority on the slime compactor(s).

This is still a good suggestion. I don't always want _all_ of a given material to be handled.

This here was pretty much one of the main intents, except replace slime with any other mat when needed. Also useful for newly dug out areas that would otherwise take too much time setting up a system to haul it out when selective sweeping would be just as good without the power and time building needed.

One of the main reasons for the filter was to reduce the amount of time wasted on having to just that.

Note that I said that the scenario with slime was just an example.

Ya I've wished they'd have this for like a year now.  I could use it a lot in the early game, when hatches are popping out and I don't want them eating my algae/copper/dirt.   Or as mentioned to get slime contained.   Or to sweep clean ice and snow into various strategic locations.  I think the main argument against is that the UI would become cumbersome due to all the material options.  I think you'd either have to let the player choose from a menu what items they want to appear for quick selection under the sweep tool, or maybe allow the player to set up a few different filters ('all metals', slime, 'algae/dirt/metal', 'ice/snow', etc) that they can then select from when they click the sweep tool.  It's not like the sweep tool is using that UI space for anything else.

It is actually section about that in suggest site. Ability to sweep just one material from certain area. It should be easy to implement and with large bases having just one storage conpactor for certain area simply doesn't work. Dups just run half of the map with some random junk.
