Kevin AWOL?

I'm a game programmer, industry professional, adult male. I really enjoy playing DST, and lately I enjoy reading the code and following the Twitch Klei Art stream when Jesse, or Toni and May are on.

I'm currently researching for the purpose of back filling documentation, and was watching @Kevin 's 2014 GDC talk, various podcasts, etc. and when I went to follow the social media links he provides...

It appears he's scrubbed his social persona and withdrawn from the Internet. (e.g., Twitter, Blog, LinkedIn?, etc.)

I can see he still reads the Klei Forums (last read July 2017) but hasn't actually posted anything since 2013.

Just wondering if there is a good reason for that, and whether it means anything about the future of DST?

For someone so passionate about the game and proud of the engine work, it's a surprising outcome. I realize it must have happened back in Feb 2014 and I am just now discovering this late, but...

If its industry related and not personal, as a budding indie game developer I'm wondering if there is a forthcoming lesson learned he may be willing to share in the spirit of his old appearances (unless these were motivated by promotional activity only), about what happens when your game becomes TOO popular?

Hi there - I'm still around! I've just been keeping busy behind the scenes. After I wrapped up my work on on Don't Starve, I wrote the dialogue for Invisible Inc, and since then I've been working on Griftlands. I think the February '14 date roughly corresponds to the time I started on parental leave, so there's also been that.

Speaking of Griftlands, we're currently putting the finishing touches on our upcoming PAX demo. I'm can't wait to see how people respond to it!

Will you guys upload any of the gameplay footage of the demo to your YouTube channel or will you leave that to the PAXgoers?

We usually leave that up to attendees so that they get the scoop.
