Klei - Please start a blog for upcoming possible game updates

Recommended Posts

Hey all

I recently went through the blog of the game They are Billions (http://www.numantiangames.com/blog/). They have an exclusive blog to tell gamers what's upcoming.

We too need one of our own for ONI ... :D

Asking this since the roadmap is very very vague. It does give an overview ... but we don't know what to expect from it. Would be very rewarding to loyal customers who have paid money even though its in early access ...

I'm honestly disappointed in the lack of communication from the dev team in this crucial Early Access phase. The community is doing more of a monologue, what feels like throwing our worries and suggestions against a wall and hope we are lucky enough to receive a fix in the next patch or not or at least an explanation on the specific design choices from the team. There is even hardly any Klei activity in the bug report section with barely any with responses or flags for "Known Issue", considering the plethora of long-lasting critical bugs.

There is the short post on the general direction the game is supposed to take at each update, but that barely addresses any of the specific concerns in the community. And every time I'm asking myself if the devs even hear what we are saying. Klei really needs to improve this "dialog" and regular blog posts would be amazing.

They've established a good track record of sizeable updates that positively impact the game.  I'm content to wait and see what's next.

The one thing I'd like to know from them ahead of time is whether an impending update will bring significant map generation changes; such that I might want to hold off starting any new long-term bases until after the update hits.

The game Factorio, which also is in early access, publishes a blog article every Friday (they call it "Factorio Friday Facts"). They have been doing that reliably for several years.

It would be nice to also have such a regular blog for ONI. Although I understand that publishing a new blog article every week may be a bit too much work, it would be nice to have at least one blog article per month.

With the exception of one update, they have been completely radio silent the last 5 weeks. I'm sorry if this comes harsh, but we have been making suggestions, suggestions, suggestions and although they probably have read it, the lack of response feels like we are talking to a wall. Something like a "thanks for the suggestion! We appreciate it and will take it under consideration" would be nice once and a while. Doesn't have to be every topic or every suggestion. Just once and a while is ok. A sign of life, a sign we aren't making our suggestions just to have them dissapear in thin air.

I just hope we can get things started again coming Thursday.

I am an administrator of an ONI foreign unofficial forum, and I witness a fact that along with the time passing by, the atmosphere we players discussing become colder and colder (every last phase of an update). We did not have any fresh information to disscuss for every four weeks (now is five weeks), which impact our enthusiasm to play this game. (someone will just leave and won't play ONI again)

There are many game DEV teams who share their ideas or artworks periodic. Especially, DEV team of my favorite mobile phone game post a single graphic every night (it is not rich but does attractive), which gives us a lot to imagine and to expect every day. Is there a better way to keep players' passion?
