Ellilea
So I've given this a little more thought and I think there's a lot of potential in the inter-pig chatter. Especially with Klei's fun ways of writing and the introduction of the pig civilization. Right now pigs are basically trading posts, they just walk around telling the player to bring them stuff and occasionally greeting them. Hamlet doesn't feel much like a city or a civilization that exists and thrives when the player isn't there. That could be solved by letting the pigs have short exchanges amongst themselves. Those could serve various purpose too! Some examples of what I mean (pardon no olde Englando, I'm no good at that so I won't clown around). 1. Jokes about the game/world mechanics Pig A: I'm afraid the Snaptooths are up to something. Pig B: Aye, they're creeping in ever closer. 2. Gossip about the player (could depend on character too) Pig A: Do you like the new unpig? Pig B: It has weird teeth. 3. Obscure hints about some game mechanics Pig A: Full moon is coming. Pig B: Check your house for any lost pikos. 4. Recipe clues Pig A: I ate too many nettle rolls. Pig B: Same. All the sticks didn't sit well. 5. Just pig stuff Pig A: Have you ever eaten a glowfly cocoon? Pig B: Yes and do not. Tastes worse than ground rot. 6. Lore/worldbuilding seen through pig eyes Pig A: Can you believe there's a whole world below us? Pig B: Don't be silly. It's just fairytales. Ditto and character specific gossip would be really funny: Pig A: Do you like the new Unpig? Wilson: It's hairy Willow: It smells like charcoal. Wendy: It scares me Wolfgang: It smells sweaty WX-78: It's rusty Wickerbottom: It's quiet Maxwell: It has a big nose. etc.

You'd really sell the idea to Klei more if you made it more like how they actually talk in game: [Wilson] "MOST UNUSUAL HAIR COMES THIS WAY!" Good luck! Mday
They never talk to each other because they are cannibalism pigmen, and when one of their kind fall, they just silently gather together and enjoy the meal. Therefore the text should go like this Pig A: .... Pig B: .... Pig C: ....
minespatch
@jambell, mind working with @Jason to hand over some of the expressive update stuff to implement into Hamlet?
Maxposting
Personally it wouldn't be much work to implement something like a tracker that would set 1 and 2 on pigs and then send over specific quotes or at least what i think so.
