SchlauFuchs
And are is there a list of what counts as heavy machinery? Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97918-are-open-mechanized-airlocks-obstacle-to-telescopes/ Share on other sites
SchlauFuchs
And is the telescope building airtight to its boundaries - would this leak? blash365
why are you still using doors instead of robo-miners? SchlauFuchs
because robo miners are not cleaning up after the mining and leave Regolith lying on the tiles, which seems to heat them up. Or am I wrong? Are autosweepers blocking light? if so I need to calculate in spaces for them to sit between the solar panels Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97918-are-open-mechanized-airlocks-obstacle-to-telescopes/#findComment-1108316 Share on other sites

Neotuck
Just build a pattern of robo miners, sweepers, and loaders on top of glass like I have on the pic works like a dream Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97918-are-open-mechanized-airlocks-obstacle-to-telescopes/#findComment-1108378 Share on other sites

SchlauFuchs
okay, I will try that then - is the telescope blocking light (can stand above the solar cells)? If so, this would be easy with a clock timer, if not, you'd have to rig up some sort of mechanized airlock under the telescope to "disable" it, and provide a way for the dupe to dismount. I had to load up my sandbox to answer the question, and the telescope can be disabled directly by automation, which is the key point of the original question. No mechanized doors needed. Do your robominers cool down? i have some places vertically that barely seem to drop in heat despite being connected to cold blocks while horizontal ones seem to do it fine. This build depends on falling regolith to act as a "thermal bridge" between the cold glass tiles and the robo-miners/sweepers/loaders they cool down every time they get entombed Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/97918-are-open-mechanized-airlocks-obstacle-to-telescopes/#findComment-1110891 Share on other sites
Kabrute
you can use an actual clock sensor to plot the time of cycle to disable the telescope to prevent sunburns...... Or better set your scientists to a night schedule so they sleep during the "sunburn inducing" part of the day and can spend more time working on the telescope.
