Are open mechanized airlocks obstacle to Telescopes?

Recommended Posts

because robo miners are not cleaning up after the mining and leave Regolith lying on the tiles, which seems to heat them up. Or am I wrong?

Are autosweepers blocking light? if so I need to calculate in spaces for them to sit between the solar panels

okay, I will try that then - is the telescope blocking light (can stand above the solar cells)?

no it doesn't block light

you can build it on glass above solar panels

However I would schedule a scientist that sleeps and breaks at high noon, or else he/she will get sunburn

Can the telescope be disabled with automation? If so, this would be easy with a clock timer, if not, you'd have to rig up some sort of mechanized airlock under the telescope to "disable" it, and provide a way for the dupe to dismount.

That would defeat the point of building it above a solar panel

Sigh... I had to load up my sandbox to answer the question, and the telescope can be disabled directly by automation, which is the key point of the original question. No mechanized doors needed.

sorry I was away from my computer and couldn't check

Just build a pattern of robo miners, sweepers, and loaders on top of glass like I have on the pic

works like a dream

I look forward to trying this or something like it.

Do your robominers cool down? i have some places vertically that barely seem to drop in heat despite being connected to cold blocks while horizontal ones seem to do it fine.

This build depends on falling regolith to act as a "thermal bridge" between the cold glass tiles and the robo-miners/sweepers/loaders

they cool down every time they get entombed

I'm understanding other comments about deliberate entombment.  mind expansion underway LOL

you can use an actual clock sensor to plot the time of cycle to disable the telescope to prevent sunburns......

Or better set your scientists to a night schedule so they sleep during the "sunburn inducing" part of the day and can spend more time working on the telescope.
