I've asked around a bit, no one knows the answers and they all suggest I just post my questions here to see if anyone does.

I found a map seed that seems fishy and I don't know if this is normal.

Seed #: 102676117

This map has 67+ wheezeworts in it, and thats when I gave up counting. There could be more.

Not only that, but it has an Iron volcano directly next to the starting biome and just a few other things that make it seem too good to be true.

So here are my questions if anyone knows the answers to any.

1) Is this seed manufactured in some way? I mean, is there a program or something that allows you to plug in what you want and then generate a seed number to give you that? I forget if this seed was one I took from a post online or one I generated myself, but I know I did not get it from a saved file or anything, as I loaded the seed number tonight and got the same thing in a new map.

2) Is this map smaller than normal? When playing, it seems a little smaller for some reason, but that might just be the massive ice biome playing tricks on the eyes. Is there any differences in sizes of map generated from a seed number?

Any help with any of these questions would be great.

1) There is no reason to believe so. The technical term is "statistical anomaly". Map generators usually deal with it by specifying minimum and maximum numbers for most things, but these may just be reached on occasion. (If exceeded, corrective action is taken.)

2) The map is just the same ~ 3.5 screens wide (maximum regular zoom-out) as any other new map.

So my next question would be, is this many WW normal? I normally get at max 20-30 for a map, I've never seen anything like this which is why I started questioning the world generation.

Within 2 screens of my base, I found a cluster of stuff that were all within 1.5 screens of each other. A leaky oil vent with 75% active time (335 g/s), 2 clean water geysers, a gold volcano, and AETN.

It's just luck.

I have collected 68 worts into my cooler farm on my current map. I got 2 metal vulcanoes 1 minor vulcano 4 water sources and 4 natgas vents. Also 3 aetns. I got the seed from the forum earlier :)

The funny thing about the leaky oil geyser is that I just dump molten glass into it and it produces as much as like 20 natural gas vents... and can use the gas to power electrolyzers, the Hydrogen from the electrolyzer to fuel the AETN, the AETN to cool the gas and water from the geysers. Except for food, that cluster of geysers lets me ignore like 80% of the resources in the game.

On the maps I've taken the time to count I usually have somewhere between 45 and 55.

That's my old Tubular seed ! I shared it on the forums back in march. It has changed, but parts of the map are still somewhat recognizable.

Nah, it was just dumb luck. :D I don't know how to alter the world generation.

I wonder if the amount of wheezeworts has been increased. My Cosmic seed has something like 80+ and a massive amount of sleet wheat. I think i'm gonna share it too because it seems to have at lot less ice biomes when generated in the Expressive Update : 388136247 if you like to have a lot of wheezeworts and wild sleet wheat.

Edit : Actually, it was generated in preview Cosmic Update, before the new ruin was added. I can see that its different when generated in current Cosmic. So its not possible to generate this map anymore. I joined a save file at cycle 0, if ever somebody would want it. Its a very nice map.

The Serene Spacestation_c000_cosmic.sav

Edit#2 : Features :

  • ~ 82 visible wheezeworts
  • hundreds of wild sleet wheat plants (some of it near surface biome though)
  • thinner surface biome and the big POI is not there
  • 3 AETNs
  • 2 cool steam vents / 1 hot steam vent (1367,3 kg water)
  • 2 cool slush geyser/ 1 polluted water vent (3823,0 kg pwater)
  • 1 copper volcano (200,4 kg refined copper)
  • 1 iron volcano (211,9 kg refined iron)
  • 1 minor volcano
  • 1 natgas geyser (91,8 kg nat gas / long dormancy)
  • 1 chlorine vent
  • 1 CO2 geyser
  • 3 oil reservoirs
  • A starting character with 8 learning

(Quantities are average for every cycle including geyser dormancy)

Any chance you could share the seed number so I can see? I just have only seen this one map with this many WW. :)

How on earth did you recognize a 9 digit seed number? LOL.. you must have a crazy memory.

You guys are lucky, the average amount of wheeze I get per map is 30-35.

^^ This.. this is me too lol

THANKS for the answers people. Man this is a friendly forum, probably one of the most helpful I've seen in any game.

If anyone wants to share any additional seeds with lots of Wheezleworts, please do!! I would love to take a look. In fact, they should have one of the seed sharing forum posts stickied here. I had to dig for it to find it, and sharing seed numbers is really helpful for new players!

Your seed is EU give only 30-40 plants. :/

Did you mean in EU it only gives 30-40 plants? I haven't tried it in EU beta branch yet, thats interesting. I didn't think the EU update would change something like that.

@BadlyBurned world seed is 225211449 although I think the seed produces a different map with current build. My map was created after cosmic but before the meteors were fixed (they are slowly degrading the top of the map)

So I think I get it now, what the person said about that map having only 30-40 WW in the EU update means if I use that seed number to generate a new map after tomorrow, that half the WW will be gone as it changes with the update.

However, if I do as you did, and load it up now, the map will update to EU but not change the amount of WW in the map, since it was generated before EU.

Am I getting this right? So your map that you started a while ago, if you load it now it might not have all 68 of the WW you have in your current saved game?

Yes if an update changes world gen, seed may have slightly or completely different results. Didnt try this exact seed now but if you gen a world with it and check it out, you will see

Yep. I restarted an old seed (pre-cosmic) that used to have both steam vents and a slush geyser close together to the southwest. Now one steam is literally in vacuum to the NW, the second is to the extreme east just above the oil, and no slush geyser. Good news is another map with 50+ Wheezeworts. Bad news is crappy geysers other than the 2 Natural Gas geysers having high outputs. :)

I really feel with each update that comes out, that someone or maybe a CM should open a topic to share seeds with the new changes. I normally like to restart a new base with each update, but thats getting less appealing due to geysers and volcano placements.

I'd be very happy having a decent seed to start in, instead of having to pour through my existing ones to see what was changed.
