he77789
In the database entry of muckroot,it says muckroot cannot reproduce if it is not exposed to direct sunlight.Does that mean there is(or was)a reachable sun? Soulwind
Or that the asteroid used to be inhabited in the past (plus the Ruins also show that) and all the available muckroot is what's left after the lights went out... Tzunki
Perhaps in the past they built the most effective Cool Dripping Borg Cube. So effective that it cooled the whole universe at once. All suns went out in the cold. No muckroot grew anymore. The last chance of the Dupekind is to survive in the last warm places of the universe. Now they teleport Dupes into the last hot remnants of the suns, the asteriodes, hoping for the last tasty muckroot (and in the hope that the tragedy of Cool dripping never repeats itself) Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91086-lore-discussion/#findComment-1038284 Share on other sites

Yoma_Nosme
Maybe dupes are told it's an asteroid but actually it's a planet and they are trapped inside a neutronium bubble as part of an experiment where they perform tasks given to them by some higher beeing ...*dum dum duuuuuuum Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/91086-lore-discussion/#findComment-1038317 Share on other sites

All the old lights are broken. Maybe they were grow-lights which the dupes have lost the tech for? nivodeus
But i thought it was pretty clear that the dupes are clone from real people. I wonder what happened to the real people. Do they still exist or only their genetic informations are left to create the dupes. if so then where and who is responsible for creating the new dupes on the printer. Gurgel
There is a lot of blank space Klei can fill. It also includes where Geysers actually take their stuff from and why Wheeze Worths are possible. On the Dupes, they are decidedly copies of some nature with regards to their bodies.
