Metal volcano steam turbine with metal access and minimal heat loss

Example of metal volcano steam turbine without blocking access to the metal

Dupe can go into the volcano room through 3 airlocks. Middle airlock is open. When dupe is going out through the manual airlock, he step on the button and it closes the middle door, when it's open again there is vacuum space, which prevents heat loss. Heat loss through the heavy watt block also blocked with vacuum. You can make it with building and destroying inside space blocks and then build wires, or you can just make vacuum with gas pump. With vacuum protection only time this system can loses heat is when dupe is inside. 

I have also 2 doors, bottom one is right only direction, so dupe has to go out through manual air lock and stay on the button to close the middle door. I strongly recommend to use manual air lock because mechanical airlock sometimes just don't give enough time for logical system to work

Also, i noticed a bug, when steam turbine just destroys the steam, so i added pressure censor to add some water time to time

You can also put the pressure tile right under the left door of your three-door airlock system. When the door is closed the sensor triggers active. The output is connected to a filter gate and then to the middle door. When a dupe opens the door above the sensor, it triggers negative. But by then the dupe is already crossing the middle door (it won't close). By the time the dupe crosses the hot-side door, the middle door has already closed and the filter gate is about to ran out of time. Then the middle door opens, and a vacuum is made.

Below is an example with two sensors. The same thing can be made with only one sensor, where the sensor, automation wires and filter gate are on the cold side. I used 0.1 sec for the filter gate, but one can experiment with 1 or 2 sec if the dupes are slow.

Does the heat propagate through your heavy watt wires to the rest of the base?

Do you have effective measures to contain the heat?

Interesting set up but why you use a heavy watt wire bridge given the Steam Turbine produce only 2000 Watts that can be support by a conductive wire which will pass through an insulated tile.

As far as I know two heavy watt wire bridges connected by heavy watt wire in vacuum space don't conduct any heat and thus this kind of setting can be connected with any other kind of power plant in a centralized power system.

probably a bug, but heat just don\t transfer between heavy watt tile and cable, so no heat loss.

The vacuum comes when the middle door opens and the other 2 are closed.  Basically, very time you open a door, it creates a vacuum.  If there is no air around to fill it, it will stay that way.

EDIT:  You can also make a vacuum by building a + out of tiles and destroying the middle one.  That's how the wire vacuum was built (probably).

it's not really possible with gas pump.

They pump 500g per second, only if there is any pressure, and when you come to lower pressure than 100g, you just pump 0,025mcg so it take ... so many times to get vaccum....and any mistake will reset all your works...

But the door technic and the " a + out" look simple, and easier to use..

It is technically possible to vacuum an area with a pump.  It just takes forever.  For a small area, it's certainly feasible.

@landromat:Could you say a few more words about the pressure configuration? I most likely have put too much steam into my turbine room. How much atmosphere is there in your example and what is the configuration for the atmo-sensor?

pressure under turbine should be at least 3 kg higher than  pressure above. you can just add censor and regulate water flow with it until it's okay. My censor is set to 8 kg of steam, but it works even with 64 kg

But the turbine surely doesnt delete all the steam that goes up. So the steam that goes through the turbine will circle around under the turbine again. How can i create 3kg difference without moving the gas around?

My english is very poor, i apologize... but it's exactly what i wanted to say. And that's why i though about debug mode when i saw his little section of vaccum. I never play in debug, so i needed a faisible way for vaccum(i just notice . And now, i get it, so thanks for sharing !

Steam is very heavy, just don't use chlorine as second gas and it will eventually go down. I just sealed gas that already was here, so i have mix of gases and  it works fine. Also, magma volcanoes are better for power generation because they give much more heat. Metal volcano steam turbine is very unstable source of power, but hey, it's free (almost)

Another method might be to have a small radiator  at the top that condenses the steam to water.  It falls, vaporizes, and rises up again.

huge hear loss. you have to keep system closed if you want maximum efficiency

this totally solves my current base issue with pressure plates.  Thank you thank you, great work.

@Landromat very good build on the volcano as well, interesting ideas, thanks for sharing.
