onebit
Heat ain't getting me this time! (at least for the time being) <20C water pumped in from the outside. Will use it for bristle blossoms soon. Currently having a little trouble running the aquatuner due to blocked co2 output on the nat gas generators. Taming some slicksters is next on the list. TheScaryOne
Try and leave more spaces for pipes in your design. If you ever need to go back and retrofit something it'll never fit at this point. Lutzkhie
in my playstyle, i insulate the outer layer of my base with insulated igneous tile, then switch it with abyssalite (when needed) to prevent heat problem it is best to avoid it especially inside the base, Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/90421-insulated-fortress/#findComment-1032002 Share on other sites
onebit
I learned that lesson in in my last play through. I left everything open air and around cycle 150 everything went to hell. This time I went for a clear delineation between inside and outside. The electric grills (one in use at a time) and massage tables are the only interior heat producers. Besides liquid based sanitation and some bristle blossoms that's all I'll put inside. I'm deciding between vacuum sealing the walls or pumping in chlorine and installing some wheezeworts on the left side. @TheScaryOne It seems pretty open to me. What did you want to put in there? If you want to save up CO2 for slicksters rather than using a carbon skimmer, there's a couple of solutions. I usually build and seal up a room and pipe it in, so that I can keep my nat gas outputs clear. Arash70
Good base, but you can do the same thing with igneous/abyssalite walls; it is also better to use 1 airlock rather than 3 automatic airlocks try building some air coolers in an ice biome and pump cool oxygen to your base and you'll be fine for eternity Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/90421-insulated-fortress/#findComment-1032035 Share on other sites
TheScaryOne
@onebit It's just very difficult to run pipes through dense pipe-filled areas. I always try to keep my pipes spaced out as much as possible in case I need to run a new line through. Cypher-7
When you dig out your base like that do you find you have air pressure problems at the start? Not sure if it’s needed but I always avoid digging out large areas and boxing in my base so I don’t have a large empty space to fill with precious oxygen. onebit
With 1000g/s of air I had no problems with pressure. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/90421-insulated-fortress/#findComment-1032111 Share on other sites

That way you can always build bridges over all lines. A Deoxydizer or two attached to your research labs does wonders to keep the O2 where you need it, in the dorm/research/farming/eating areas. Everyone else can run in and out until you stabilize.
