They changed the Algae Terrarium

It wasn't in any of the patch notes (I think), but now Algae Terrarium now consume only a fraction of the water they receive, most of it gets converted into polluted Water inside the "building", and then needs to be emptied by a Duplicant. I guess they are more viable now?algae.thumb.png.6d5368a368d122cd33630a4936ada926.png

It's logic and good to know, thank for the information

will sweeper arms load bottle emptiers? Also set a liquid vent over your terrarium and drip feed it water

Unfortunately they do not. Terrariums just sit there waiting to be emptied. Can almost fully automate by putting hydro sensor to keep a small pool of water, and have the sweeper load Algae, but Dupelicants have to empty the PW manually.

I have to say that I was excited for the change at first, but in practise it's been a nightmare. Maintaining the terrariums is an even greater time sink then before. I have three bottle emptiers running flat out and they still can't keep up with the PW output, so half my terrariums are sitting there doing nothing. They really do need a liquid output

If you're having troubles with priorities with algae terrariums ...

It seems terrariums are maintained via the "Life Support" function. That said, Life Support appears to be the lowest hidden priority as best I can tell. Put Life Support as that duplicant's only high priority and it should function fine so long as you have emptiers ready to take polluted water (I'm using two emptiers per terrarium atm).

I'm playing around with a limited power build - less than 1000 watts active at any time. Using one coal generator on a smart battery to run the entire base, focusing on new changes with hatches and terrariums. We'll see how it goes!
