Major44
All other creatures must eat and be tamed. They even have death age now. Only morb don't need these. They just produce polluted oxygen infinitely. Don't you think its very odd? It can be infinitely accumulated, that is almost like a Bug. Szczuku
Morb spawns from outhouse so having to make it happy for it to lay eggs to reproduce would be stupid. Plus morbs produce polluted oxygen which helps spread slimelung so it's a bad thing to have a morb in your base Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89990-why-is-morb-so-special/#findComment-1027871 Share on other sites

As for polluted oxygen, it can feed puft and change to slime. Slime can change to polluted water and algae. So its actually a good thing. I've meant morbs alone, without pufts. If they spawns from outhouse then you probably don't want to have to waste sand or risk slimelung spread Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89990-why-is-morb-so-special/#findComment-1027890 Share on other sites

This doesn't change anything- morbs still are renewable without having to make them happy and all that stuff. Plus they don't actually eat anything and if they did it would probably be something related with dead duplicants or polluted dirt Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89990-why-is-morb-so-special/#findComment-1027896 Share on other sites

ShadowOfALegend
Morbs are nice to give PO2 filters some work and that in return can net you clay which can be used for hatches That is one more option Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89990-why-is-morb-so-special/#findComment-1027942 Share on other sites
WanderingKid
PO2 is only dangerous if you already have a slimelung contagion. By itself it's harmless. The risk of the contagion is enough to keep it contained however. But, ridiculous Morb generation can be profitable: Throw together a LOX purifier and you've got a recipe for endless O2. The only thing that really keeps it from being truly game breaking is that LOX is not newbie friendly, and by the time you've gotten to LOX generation, you're way ahead of the game difficulty cycle anyway. @Major44 the reason I think they didn't expand/manipulate them in Rancher MkII is because they're supposed to be a nuisance creature that can cause more problems then solutions if you're not prepared to handle their output. Man in the Mist
Still, can you imagine having Farty Morbs which would produce natural gas instead of polluted oxygen? Alfons100
I mean, a Morb is whats described as ’a mass of germs’ so thats why it is treated differently than other creatures, more as a pest rather than a real animal Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/89990-why-is-morb-so-special/#findComment-1028433 Share on other sites

FullMetalArthur
I don't think they are very useful. Polluted Water already produces Polluted oxygen, does it not? Gurgel
Morbs are basically mobile mini-geysers As the environment is fully closed, there must be ways to get matter in and out, at least if there is no perfect recycling. And recycling is pretty rudimentary at this time. So geysers and Morbs get matter in. Getting matter out is still not solved well, the only real way I found is burning Hydrogen or Coal and then destroying the energy generated via Wheezeworts and Nullifiers. I would like to see a long-term research goal of "Black Hole" or the like here.
