Pufts Nerfed!

Recommended Posts

Seems Pufts only consume PO when hungry with the new Ranch update.  From what I see they seem to consume when their kcal is less than 2K and only about 400 to 600 kcal at a time about twice a cycle and they poop about 200g to 300g of slime.

If we assume a single well fed puft poops about 600g of slime per cycle and 1 cycle = 4790s then that would be about 0.125 g/s slime from a single puft

then it would take 4000 pufts to run a single algae distiller

1 cycle = 600s then 1 puft would make 1 g/s slime and it would take 500 pufts to run 1 algae distiller

Yep.  All critters have been reduced by a factor of 100.  Individual critters or even small, reasonable numbers of critters, are now useless for resource manipulation.

seems pointless then the only thing critters are useful for is egg production

Two options :-

  • Destroy your game fps with a million critters to actually make them feasibly worth anything.
  • Forget trying to use them for anything, treat them as pets.

Seems the pre-release figures lead us towards option two, I've been tinkering with hatches and the amount of coal they produce - well, lets just say it's not the best :p

Their change logs have been terrible.  We need a undocumented changes thread for each patch.

But making all creatures useless except for good seems silly to me.  We go from wheat, to lice, to berries to eggs but always a single best good.  I don't need another food option.

With hatches and geysers nerfed, apparently we now go with an army of dup hamster wheels for power?

I don't understand why devs not talk more about their plans/roadmap for this game.
I supported a dazzillion alpha/beta games (+-37,54%)and Klei feels "special" for me, when it comes to "ninja" updates ^^

A pretty significant feature of this is this really baffling idea that they can't ever engage the playerbase in conversation over the game, lest they "unintentionally alter the course of the discussion".  Which basically means there is no way they ca gather specific feedback unless a forum thread just so happens to talk about exactly what they need feedback about.  It also leads to scenarios, like current Critters and Geysers, where we have no idea what their intentions are, and so we can't provide effective feedback about them beyond "we don't like this".

How are we supposed to test their game if we can't even enter into discussion with them about the game?
