Perlator - most efficient machine for cooling, oxygen generation, cheap and easy to build!

Recommended Posts

Thank you, for your nice feedback @Zarquan & @GrindThisGame & @Saturnus i use that to improve customer friendliness!

Based on customer- and consumerwishes, "Perlator - Eco - Mini" was born. It's more eco and mini. like the big one, but it's doing similar cool things, like the "mothership"!

Can you explain how it works @Oozinator ?

Sure Sir.
Hydrogen is climbing up, temperatures not.
It's standard oxygen generator pump and hydrogen gen setup, but with combined cooling of everything.

seems like a nice and original approach. Can you share more pics (pipes for example) or a sav file?

do the wheezeworths create gas circulation through those tunnels, I guess so?  Kinda cool!  ;)

Thank you. I better share the save, when i share templates, everything is disconnected.
Some other stuff there too :)
Wheezie circulation yes. When you use wheezies for that, you have to take care, that only one sort of gas is in the "cooling wheezie tunnel".
Have phun.
Edit, Changed savefile  ^^

the perlator2.jpg doesn't show up??   @Oozinator ??

Ah how sad. Not to fault the OP's ingenuity but I would really like to see some sophisticated machines in this game that don't use exploits.

Based on the triggers for the cooling bug to occur, it's 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% impossible to do.  You can minimize it's effects, but you can't eliminate.

I tried many games, to avoid them, played without debug, pure survival.
At some point, drip bug happened accidentally and it was a bit frustrating..
Sometimes, when the temperature difference between liquids is small, you don't get even aware of the bug, but i see it a bit different now.
Borgcube or Perlator is working without the bug, but it's supported by it, in a "turbo way". That means, it's not a pure cheat and the chance to trigger it by accident is high.
Game has some other bugs too (changing with updates, drip bug is there forever now).
I am not sure, but the mechanic is part of the ingame calculations and to fix it, could be to complicated, to get it ever done (hard code work/engine).
Game is fun to play, not a science simulator, or technically / logically, but i take it now, how it comes and don't care.
:)

I am glad people are enjoying ONI but I must say it sure wouldn't be fun if we all just play in debug mode. "Click" = endless oxygen or anything you like. Or if the game develops into the direction of: Wizard Dupe profession just use mana to summon more water!

There should be a balance the "magic" (physical adjustments due to scale/programmability) of ONI while obeying it's selling point, a thermodynamically based world.

ditto this.  Thanks for posting the screen shot, how is the hydrogen output?  Does it matter anymore that the electrolizers are not touching hydrogen ?  I am trying to build a new set up in a new ranching survival, I love your design but need/want excess hydrogen too.

Yes, the hydro - flow mechanic is still working. I am not sure if the savefile is still working, i posted above.
One thing about those compact designs:
Those combined cooling mechanics are only needed, when electrolyzers are running most of the time. Then they generate heat and that is a problem, that must be solved.

When you have for example 1 electrolyzer running whole time, then you have all the heat at that single spot. As soon as you install pumps in that heated area, to transfer hydro / O2, heat is spreading, insulation needed.
When you build 20 electrolyzers, they don't produce more or less of anything, but you have a nicer distributuion of anything.
In your case, you want exess hydro. Easy solution store excess O2, could use that for exos later.

Suck it up, store it, let hydro raise to the top free, shape a dome at top, where you collect all that precious hydro and no need for additional cooling. I like to freeze things too, but when it thaws everything fails..

For O² i use such a thing. When the right pumpsensor is above 1111.9 it sucks / filters o² and stores it in the Bunker, but only when exosuit line is filled up completely. When bunker is full, but pump has nothing to pump (could not refill exosuitline), it opens up bunkerdoor with left sensor.storage.thumb.jpg.033c31e01b802d40582cddddb30958f0.jpg
The small pic is a bunker/storage for any gas.

When i post pictures, there is for sure stuff based on other forum members creations, even the impulse for the perlator came from Saturnus designs, to some percentage. Not inventing the wheel new. :)
Easy dome, has positive effects, run down a hydropipe, build hydrogens and feed them from the chain.

When you are down in the oil biome with the pipe, you have many ways to support the hydrogen gens, through other generators. (I built yesterday a nice stressfree oilcooker, without heattransfer and integrated gascooling 1° output temp ^^). Theoretically i could scale up everything now, because i have so much energy, but why?
More of everything, means not all times = better in any way.
More pumps - energy + heat.

Okay that makes sense, I'm a visual learner, so these really help, thanks for the vent photo as well, I tried one time to build one and used water and the water kept pressurizing away from the vent - I gave up on it, I'll try this.  I'm trying to figure this out for a better build than my last base, I had a large tall room around an AETN that was making ice that I used for all kinds of cooling things.  it worked, but I often had to check to see if the oxygen / hydrogen mix was good and one wasn't reaching the other's area making me short on it.  I had spaghetti pipes.....

You want exploit-free? I present Domelineous™, 101% exploit free! (Ok, I might have missed another exploit, and the mechanism to activate the wheezeworts could be considered an exploit as well).

I tested the system for a few dozen cycles and it's stable. Output of course depends partially on oxygen pressure throughout the base, but I saw outputs between 350 and 450 kilograms of oxygen per cycle.
