I Need An Automation Instruction Video

Recommended Posts

Looks like the domain lmyttfy.com is not available, but there are also no DNS records for it.

*Ahem*

All you need to know about Automation is that it's all about remote control: Automation wires carry signals that activate and deactivate buildings. There are various sensors that automatically turn on and off depending on environmental factors, which can in turn operate machinery automatically.

Remember Thermo Switch, Atmo Switch and Hydro Switch? They would connect to a wire and turn power on or off depending on temperature, gas pressure or liquid pressure. Those same devices still exist, but were reworked as Automation components. Their functionality is exactly as it was before, with the exception that instead of turning power on or off, they emit an Automation signal when the condition is met. All your favorite buildings like Liquid Pump now accept Automation inputs accordingly.

Are the graphics of the automation things the final one ? Or will it change by the time ? I think, the design art is a bit off. Too different to the rest of the game.

And another question. What is the different between the small wires and normal wires ? The first has a wattage of max 1000Watt, okay, and the other for 2000Watt, but where I need the 2000Watt cable ? The Power Transformer accept only 1000 Watt for the output. Where I need the 2000Watt wires ? Has anyone an example ?

PS: The Stone Crusher and the Metal Crusher are nice things. :D

Oh, thx. I saw the tooltip ingame and this tooltip said: "1000 Joule Output". Not 4K or till 4K. I didn't test it with more consumers over 1K. Merci. :)

You can have a single consumer that uses more than 1KJ, for example an aquatuner, without a battery on the output side though (a tiny battery will do if pressed for space).

After reading an earlier post showing off some combinations of gates I went off to YouTube to learn more about latches and such.

I found a channel that covers a lot of the material. Particularly this series on latches by Kevin Drumm. I found the videos very informative.

I think Hello Lacy does a good job of explaining SR latches here

I think what confuses a lot of people is the cross coupling. It's actually easier to understand using the side-by-side set up she uses in the correct compact version at the end.

Time for shamelessly promote my solution. Yay!

This is an SR And-Or latch. 33% smaller, easier to build, easier to remember, less wiring, aesthetically more pleasing and accomplishes the exact same thing. (in a slightly different manner since I dropped a Not gate)

Not exactly the same as an SR NOR latch though. The AND-OR latch has dedicated S and R inputs where SR NOR latches don't care.

This is really cool stuff, I love it. Very well explained.

That's for general-purpose inquiries. This request was specifically for a video.

You're being obnoxious. If someone asks for help lmgtfy is a crappy answer. Better to not say anything at all. How can someone who doesn't know about a topic judge the quality of videos about that topic? This person is asking for help and instead of helping them you are being snarky. You should apologize.
