Is this a WX-78 wetness-related bug, overlook or an intentional feature?

Recommended Posts

I'm not posting this in bug reports, because I have no idea whether this is a bug or not in the first place.

Essentially, the less water protection something has, the more it will slow down the rate at which WX-78 gets a short-circuit hit. At least, based on my tests... shouldn't it be the other way round?

So, if you place an eyebrella on while it's raining and you have some wetness on already, the hits will be carried out every 3 - 5 seconds. However, if you have a Pretty Parasol (of all things) in hand, and that alone, the hits will be slower, providing about 7 or perhaps even more second interval.

I found this out when testing my mod; for my mod, when having eyebrella on and high wetness, the rate was very fast because of the way I coded it. But... with pretty parasol on and/or straw hat on, it worked just as if the game didn't have any mods on. Weird.

Yes, I tested it both with the mod and without it and, as mentioned in the beginning the rate with eyebrella was 3 - 5 seconds, while with parasol the rate was 7 or more seconds.

I remember something about WX-78 taking drying damage when his wetness is above 0 and he has 100% water resistance, which is coded separately from his normal wetness damage.

I found some information off the wiki (might not be accurate)

Spoiler

"WX-78 takes damage from being wet. When completely exposed to Rain, WX-78 will take a maximum damage of 0.5 [health] every 3–5 seconds. Water resistant equipment will reduce this damage. For example, damage will be reduced by 50% while wearing 50% water resistant equipment (i.e. a Pretty Parasol), taking only 0.25 damage every 3–5 seconds. WX-78 will also take damage from Wetness after it has stopped raining, at a rate of 0.3 [health] every 3–5 seconds. This is "drying" damage as the Wetness meter empties. Standing next to a Fire will significantly speed up the rate at which the Wetness meter decreases, potentially becoming dry (after being soaked) in a matter of seconds."

"When it's raining, unless planning to dry soon, it's not advised to wear Clothes that provides 100% water resistance when highly wet as usually the "drying" damage is higher than the damage you would take with a lower water resistance (e.g. Straw Hat + Pretty Parasol)."

I don't know anything about modding, but my guess is that you modified WX-78's drying damage without modifying his wetness damage.

I think Wetness should be taken away from WX. It's clearly too much and makes the character unplayable. No matter how much the damage we talking about.
Buffs to WX when Klei ?

I hope you're joking, because the rain damage is already a joke for it. Hence, I'm working on a mod that mainly focuses on making it a bit more of a problem for it.

I know right, Spring starts with WX is nearly impossible.... I manage to get to around Day 4 before i'm saturated and unable to get dry.

I know. Atleast Make lightning Overcharge from Spring Regen Health. Otherwise it's impossible.

I'm not sure if you two are being serious or seriously ridiculous.

Newbie starts in harsher seasons are already a problem in and of itself, but this sounds a bit too ridiculous to believe. The rate of sparks is slow and you only lose 0.5 hp each time, so how is it even a problem? You're constantly surrounded by spiders or something?

As a Wx-78 main,I agree and feel rain damage is just too much. Only if klei would hear my pleads and buff it.

Spoiler

if you take this game to serious, you should just use mods ;>

I agree that wetness damage, while it does stack up over time, is basically a non-issue if you play carefully. Just eat some fish-sticks or other hp restoring foods every couple days and you are good to go. Besides, once you eat a few gears your hp is high enough for you to not worry about it.

Precisely! And what's more, once you get an eyebrella, or even an umbrella for that matter, the wetness becomes a complete non-issue.

The only time I remember dying from short circuit, even though being a WX main recently, was from my mod where the circuit wasn't working as I wanted it to (rappid water damage = insta-death).

complete non-issue

you need light+armour+weapon+in addition protection from rain in caves, so even if you got charge, you need helm and coat or log suit and eyebella, it's no fun when you have to deal with damage that you can't instantly stop while you fight

the mechanic is fine though, the robot taking damage from water seems legit, but clearly understand guys above

But it's barely even noticable even if you stay wet for long periods of time! By my calculations, considering you get a hit every 3 - 5 seconds, so that's 4 on average... if you have 480 seconds in a day, you divide that by 4, which is 120. Then times that by 0.5, which is the damage dealt...

You will lose at a max average of 60 health PER DAY by staying in the rain the entire time. That isn't even HALF of the amount of health you have by default. So how is this an issue at all?! ********, I tell yee, ********!
