  1. Oh wow, there's a lot to take in inside of that short. So WX-78 was Wagstaff's assistant. Yea that's all I have. I'll come back with a more detailed post later.
  2. Ever since the WX-78 refresh had released, I was hoping for some new vignettes to release aswell, giving more lore tid-bits on the short and WX-78 themselves. But there were none released with the update. I do hope klei remembers to add one, and make a community vote aswell. I have multiple screenshots from the short that could be amazing vignettes for the game.
  3. Ever since the new circuit system got introduced into WX's refresh, ive had a silly idea brewing in my head. Just listen to me on this. WX-78 can install winters feast lights... Into thier charge box. They would only take one slot, and make wx blink pretty colors. The more lights, the more colors. That's it. No benefit from them or anything.

Bee Queen with 3 super acceleration circuits - YouTube Strategy: Phase 1: Clear all grumble bees and leave one so that BQ doesn't spawn more, then tank both BQ and one grumble bee. Phase 2: Lure BQ to the farthest point (beyond that she returns) away from the grumble bees, mark it with a dwarf star, tank BQ alone there. Phase 3&4: Wait for BQ to screech and run to lure the grumble bees away from BQ then double back to tank BQ alone.

A lot of people have been wanting even more of a downside to WX after every update to the rework, In my last post I shared a few items and one of them kinda tampered with WX's hunger in order to balance something out. Now, I had the short idea of straight up decreasing WX's max hunger, the more circuits he has equipped, instead of increasing his hunger drain. Obviously it was just an impulse thought, but now it sounds kinda interesting. I say this idea regardless of if WX should have more charge modules or not, I just sort of want to throw it out there. Also, please take a look at my other idea post that is more fleshed out and cooler, feedback is appreciated!

I have two ideas to make him a little better because of the last changes: - 100 of every stat - each teir 1 stat mod gives 60/70 of that stat ( to make more reason to use them instead of just speed - and 7 slots instead of 6 it would be a bit nicer, so people could take up 1 or 2 slots to balance their stats and still have some room to mess around. Or Start with 100 of each stat, and only 4 circuit slots But you would be able to create expantion packs with gears Up to 10! And each upgrade Will cost more and more gears being the first like 4 gears the Next one 7 and add 2 more cost for each Next one. And make the first speed upgrade cost 5 instead of 6. Another option is just make him be able to upgrade with gears to 8 slots and start with 6 already. Now a good portion of the people is saying the same, put a mecanic in that you can take one slot more of your maximum, but you Will take DOUBLE the damage
  7. The WX-78 rework so far has been possibly one of the best character reworks Klei has released. The new circuit system of being able to make different combinations of perks for WX is really cool. Almost everyone agreed on that WX should somehow have a customizable upgrade system of sorts, the way that Klei did it was quite creative and original. As much as I want to praise this rework even more, there are some well known issues. Issues like some circuits being underwhelming or way too good, slow recharge, lack of incentive to change circuits often, low number of combinations, etc. One complaint that isn't brought up enough is how WX has no real downside to go along with the many upsides. You may say "Oh WX does have a downside, it's water!", but that "downside" doesn't effect WX in any way at all, unless you are getting wet on purpose. The way water works on WX now is that there is a threshold on how wet you can be. This threshold is at 20 wetness, this means that you need to be over 20 wetness for water to start effecting WX negatively. This negative effect on WX only drains the the charge meter of 1 charge every 10 seconds. WX doesn't take damage untill they have ran out of charges, which makes them take 17 damage every 10 seconds. It takes a full minute for water to start damaging WX, this doesn't include the time wetness reaches the threshold and the various sources to slow/completely stop wetness gain. WX can have infinite nightvision/light, infinite 25%, 40%, and 50% speed, and 2 whole seasons countered with just one circuit change (not to mention that ruins rushing is a cakewalk now). All of this with Wilson level stats to boot. This is simply ridiculous for a character to have. No one should be able to simply shutdown an entire part of the game with easily inserting a circuit and walking away. The problem here is that charge is infinite as long as you keep circuits socketed in. You only lose charge when you remove them or somehow get wet enough and have charge drain that way (or starve, but even that's much harder). I'm not saying every character needs a downside, but in the case of WX, they definitely do. Downsides counteract the upsides of a character. It's called a balance. Even though DST may be a PvE game, balance is still important. It helps with keeping the player engaged into the world and helps decide thier choices and interactions within the game. Without balance, the game can become boring, or outright frustrating for the player. How can we fix this problem? We can suggest possible downsides/tweaks to the character that can flow and interact with the upsides. Many of you have suggested many changes and downsides that could help with this problem/many others. Some are quite simple, while others are more complex. Some suggestions include: -Lowering all base stats. -Overload mechanic with circuits. -Nerfing/buffing some circuits. -Taking damage along with losing a charge to water. Double damage when out of charges. -A don't get hit mechanic. -New fuel gauge that slowy goes down, you begin to lose charge with lower the fuel you have. -A new rusting mechanic on the charge bar, it effects charges and circuits the worse it gets. (My personal favorite, and totally not biased because it's my idea) Many more downsides can possibly be thought of. The ones I listed here are the ones ive seen pop up the most. This post may not be well written, but I do help it communicates the important message im trying to send. English writing isnt my strong suit. I may have some info wrong, feel free to correct me.
  8. Ever since the WX-78 beta dropped, I was hoping for some special interaction between WX and Wagstaff, but there wasn't any. I think Wagstaff could've given WX a special upgrade module after Helping him out in the moonstorm. This upgrade module could be eaten and give WX 1-2 more fuse slots, and maybe a slightly faster recharge time. Any upgrade/item would be nice to have as a late game reward, afterall Wagstaff is a major character in the lore and he created WX-78.
  9. Bearing in mind that we are talking about machine and engineer, should these characters have traits that complement each other in some way? In addition to WX being able to charge its energy via Nona's generators, should they have more supportive interactions? I was just wondering obout it and would love any opinions and ideas.
  10. The WX-78 rework has been amazing. I would list this as one of the top three best reworks so far. As much as I love this rework, there are some things that could be tweaked or changed. -Charge Regen- The charge meter is very creative and original. The problem is that the charge regeneration rate is really slow. It would be nice if it was doubled from what it is now. The way you can get charge from lightning rods and other sources is really nice. The only thing i don't like about it is that regular lighting only gives one charge. For how rare it is to even get struck by lightning, the one charge is dissapointing. Maybe make it so it fills most, or even the full meter. -Circuit Combinations- The new circuit system is amazing. Being able to choose which upgrade you want is refreshing. Different combinations of circuits isn't as encouraging though. Removing circuits drains charge which is not as great. As much as i was hesitant on increasing the fuse slots to 7, I think it would actually benifit more than harm. You still cant have more than 2, three pronged circuits plugged in, having 7 allows more combinations for circuits that takes up more space. A late game fuse box capacity from Wagstaff could also work. Circuits draining charge when removed could only drain half, leaving atleast some charge left. -Downsides- I was hoping when WX-78 rework came, It would add a more meaningful water downside. It was inconsistent and easily countered. Almost making it nonexistent. WX-78 having one charge removed every 15 seconds when above the water threshold and only taking damage when out of charges feels too safe. This downside doesn't have any real threat unlike it was in ds and even dst WX. Making this downside even more of a joke compared previously. When above the water threshold, charges could still drain every 15 seconds, but WX loses health aswell. If there are no charges left, then WX starts taking double damage. (Making the downside more impactful could allow upsides to be buffed.) -Miscellaneous- The Chorus music box circuit isn't a great or worthwhile upgrade. It taking up 3 slots is too much for an item that gives only a small sanity gain and plant tending benifit. It beinh reduced to take 1 slot would be nice and having two of them should give a larger tending radius. The Optoelectronic circuit is too good of am item, even after the Illumination circuit got a small buff, The Optoelectronic circuit is still cheaper and much more useful. Maybe increase the cost or add a small downside like a hunger drain or something. (This post is all in my opinion and it's just what I think so far. Feel free to comment, add suggestions and feedback.)
  11. I mentioned on the voice headcanons thread that I vocoded some dialogue with WX's in-game "voice" and some people wanted to hear it, so here it is! (sorry, exporting killed the quality) Subtitled because I'm still new to this sort of thing and WX isn't really the best sample for it anyway Side note, I'm surprised Don't Starve doesn't have one of those fan voice acting communities. I typed this up a good few months ago when I was very bored at 11 PM. I think what sparked the idea to make this was the in-game console.   13. sooo I have a tendancy not to finish what I start, but I thought maybe making a thread and seeing feedback would help motivate me to finish this, since I really like the idea. I am making a small improvised comic about Webber and WX-78, that's based on the lore behind them. It's going to be a little bit of an alternate-universe, because the personalities and appearances of the characters are a little different. Me and my friend main Webber and WX-78 together respectively so I'm also loosely basing the characters off us. Most notably Webber has a tartan scarf and a slightly altered version of the Gladiator head skin, and WX-78 has a slightly altered version of the hallowed nights skin. (this is mostly just because these are the skins i enjoy drawing most for these characters, and to set them apart from their "canon" counterparts) It will be fairly sketchy and low-effort because I have two other comics I'm working on atm and this is just a side thing to do in my free time. I don't have a page for this done quite yet, but I have sketched out most of the panels and will post it soon. I know it's kinda lame to just make an art post without any actual art in it, so I will post a few of my recent DST drawings (mostly webber)
  14. Just something I had on my head ever since I saw Oxygen Not Included.
  15. So, I'm trying to re-work WX-78's rate of wetness damage, so that it would increase (be faster) the more wetness he has. So, this is what I have: --Declares a variable that is the current moisture of the player character local wetness_percent = inst.components.moisture:GetMoisture() --Determines how long until the next spark happens inst.spark_time_offset = (3 *(1 -wetness_percent)) + 1 The code above would mean that at just above 0 wetness, the rate would be 4 seconds, while being 1 second at full wetness. That is if 100% = 1 in terms of numbers. However, when testing it, just above 1 wetness, the rate starts to become extremely fast. Why is that? Any way I can fix this and make this work correctly? I've been trying to get this working for like an hour now and no amount of change fixes it. It's either too slow at times or way too fast
  16. So, the initial is 1 day, that part of code I have found. However, the consecutive ones are smaller. Would anyone happen to know which part of code controls this and makes it so that WX gets less charge after each consecutive hit? And is this part of the code actually located in wx78.lua or some other file? I just can't seem to find it

  19. I've been incessantly updating my character Pith the Pyromancer and ran into a few problems. My character mod, Pith the Pyromancer, was created just a few weeks before DST ROG came out. Later I updated him so he can be played in Reign of Giants. A few errors have occurred which I have been eagerly trying to fix. But this one leaves me stumped. In the normal DST Pith takes rain damage similar to WX-78, however I realized WX-78's coding is different in ROG compared to the original. I tried to look in the forums to see if the same problem occurred for someone else and found nothing. So, I'm looking for a code that I can simply paste in. I need to know which file, and which section inside the file. Thanks for your help.
