Having a lightning rod in my base is super super helpful, but it's really dissapointing that it removes the entire overcharge aspect from WX whenever i'm in my base, which is a large majority of the gameplay, it would be really nice if you could touch the rod as WX and consume the charge in it and move it to yourself.
  3. I got an idea for WX-78 rework and I wanted to share it with you. So, intstead of hunger he would have fuel points. If the player doesn't move no fuel will be consumed. Moving, attacking, mining rocks, etc. will consume some (fuel would be consumed 2x slower than hunger). Fuel can be refilled by: -gears (+40 points, +40 health, + 30 sanity), -electrical doodad (+25 points, +15 health, +5 sanity), -nightmare fuel (+30 points, -15 sanity), -volt goat milk ("35 points, +30 health, also charges him like a lighting for 1 min), -any food that gives hunger but divided by 2,5. His max stats would be a little nerfed: 350 health 250 sanity 200 fuel (hunger) In fight he would get an ability called "zap". It would happen randomly. This ability would multiply WX next attack by 1.10x to 2x (depends on how much gears you have eaten) Your worst nightmare will now be rain and wetness. Damage dealt by rain will be a little increased. If WX is exposed to water for too long he will begin to rust. Rust will slow down the player, make him attack slower and pretty much make him do everything as slow as snail. But there will be solution for this and its called "lubricant". To craft it you will need: 1 bee stinger 4 ashes 5 rot His starting items would be: 1 lubricant 3 electrical doodads Also since he is a robot he will turn off instead of sleep (like a different pose or something) when hit by gestalt and every other thing that makes you sleep. He will get an exclusive crockpot dish "the cog of war". Indigrients: 1 gears 1 lubricant 1 voltgoat horn filler (can't be meat, vegetable or fruit (so sticks and ice will come in handy)) This dish would give him: 70 fuel 60 health 50 sanity 1,3x speed boost (5 mins) 2x DMG (5 mins) Cog of war can be seasoned (kinda weird but DST isn't very realistic). Combined with voltgoat jelly it gives a massive DMG boost. He will be more resistant to cold and heat. WX would also work as lighting rod attracting lightingbolts. The last thing i want to add is some resistances and weaknesses: 7% DMG reduction to dry enemies, 5% more DMG from wet enemies. So spring is basically nightmare. Eyebrella is godlike. WX with warly is a DMG monster. I really hope for a rework for my favorite character in any form. Anyways ,thanks for reading my gibberish. Have a good day (or night)!

So, in my opinion, WX is kinda both broken and underpowered, let me explain, he has only one downside that is insanely easy to counter, that is beeing hurt by rain, not only the damage from it is slow as hell, it can be tottaly ignored with eyebrella, he is kind of underpowered on solo, but hes extremely broken with wickerbottom, in conclusion, he is wilson, but with only upsides. This idea however will change WX not only to be balanced, but fun as well! I will break that into segments, because there's multiple upsides of wx that needs rebalancing, here's my view on them: - Upgrade system - now instead of eating gears, WX will have new tab, instead of ability to eat gears, from now on wx will be able to upgrade himself in a different ways, because let's be fair, 400hp is a wee bit too op, and also lost potential. The upgrades will rely on clockworks, because hell, why nobody have thought of that when they are the main source of gears, as the regular, they will consume 15 gears to fully upgrade, lets talk abut upgrades then: 1) Accordion extension - This is the equivalent of our good ol' knight, it will extend our reach in fighting also giving us knockback mechanic, don't think it will make us fine and dandy while fighting, because the arms will always be on the view and monsters can destroy them, if they do destroy them, you can't hold anything, and only other characters can fix you with this, so this is high risk, high reward upgrade (if you want to avoid the team thing, just kill and ressurect yourself), the extend will be small however, but enough for example hitting a hound without getting chomped back, and knockback mechanic will only work when you are very close to the enemy. It will cost 5 gears to get this upgrade. 2) legs o' rook - you guessed it, this is rook counterpart of the upgrade, this will allow you not to only do the moose like charge of woody, but if you hit something, you loose health instead of beeing slowed down, it also wont allow you to get past through enemy, it will just attack single one, but with high damage. not only that, you will be able to do forge wolfgang-like jump but you can do that once every 2 days and will not do as big areal damage to enemies (more like wormwood spiky vest), it will allow you to get past through gaps though,you will also be slowed down like a reversed walking cane. His upgrade will consume 8 gears and 3 cut stone 3) Idea bulb - and you can probably guess who is the last on this list, bishop, the upgrade will be most pricy one because you may use 2 gears for that, but in advance you need 2 purple gems and 5 moonglass. Said its pricey, but for the payoff, you will be able to do ranged attack as long as you dont get hit enough to get it destroyed, not wearing any hats (it will destroy hats a bit if trying to shoot in them), or get struck by lightning making it 'explode', bruh you have bulb on your head (though you can fix yourself with moonglass with the lightning one). The ranged attack will be somewhat simmiliar to bishop, but far weaker and less accurate, though you can point where you want to shoot, be wise with that, you need to charge yourself to shoot, and to charge yourself, you need a charged lightning rod and touch it (one charged lightning rod = 3 shots, you can stack up to 15, after that, your bulb head will explode, but with ability to fix it with moonglass) it deals 60 damage per hit, but you can aim anywhere instead of the need to point at enemy, so in this case, you need prediction more than ctrl+f. To boost the accuracy, damage and projectile speed however you will need to right click yourself and do a crabby hermit house repair thingy, you will most likely use more gears, purple gems and maybe even wires because it makes sense for robotic character. ok, so the upgrade idea is done, all of them will give you small stat boost, idea bulb mostly in sanity, leg o'rook in health and accordion extension nothing much, just small all stats up, let's get to WX when he's overcharged WX after beeing struck by lightning should chop, mine and pick things faster, but not beeing insanely fast, not only that, his overcharged meter should be visible, he can be charged by charged lightning rods (so as do math says, he have 150points in his charge meter from the bulb idea). The overcharge should not give you speed of beeing way faster than beefalo with a type of rider (he has 9 run speed points compared to rider beefalo 8), his speed should be reduced to beefalo rider speed and also ingoring every item that gives you bonus speed, so no roads and walking canes will give you unhealthy speed, it's maybe a party pooper idea, but combine walking cane, road, overcharged WX, magiluminescence and you have 9 run speed + 75% of it, tell me about beyond broken speed (at least roads and walking canes are easy to get, so its still 55%). Also the perk of not beeing a picky eater should extend to eating monster meat, he's a robot, not a human, his health and sanity shouldn't go down after eating something what he shouldn't, same with red caps, it won't lover his hp, he has no digestive system to begin with, so also healing items besides salves and poultice won't heal him, but to make game harder, he still has to eat. ok so we got 2 main upsides of WX, but where is his downside? his main one is a literal joke, let me tell you about something way more painful than beeing hurt 1 damage per year from rain: - STUPID RUSTING GEARS - not only WX crafting will be an upgrade, he will be able to make oil from bone shards (aka fossil replacement) that he needs to apply every 2 days at least once, that is if you don't oil yourself, you will be litteraly 'frozen' making you collapse on the ground and it will freeze you for 5 seconds, if you keep ignoring that, it will be up to 20 seconds, you will guess you're rusting by sounds of scrape of metal when walking, not only that, you will walk slower if you ignore that. that makes skeletons useful as hell for wx, but since we don't have infinite source of bones in don't starve, they should drop from eating raw big meat, because you can literally see a bone sticking out from it, also it gives you a penalty of sanity, so it's not bad and is a not that broken-easy bone source. It'll ignore only first 7 days, then it will be your burden. Rain instead of hurting you, will speed up this process to 6 times faster (aka it either affects the first day making you need to oil 3 times every day or 6 times per 2 days if we stay at 2 day rule, but first makes more sense) thus you need good amount of bones, and it will surely affect you if you forget bones with eyebrella, making it truly a great, balanced and logical downside.
  6. WX exists. WX is a character that in dst people really only talk about for it's speed boost when struck with lightning, and how Wicker can make this even better. But I've also heard people say things like "WX is a Wilson with only upsides" and "400 health is OP" I agree with these statements on some level, as 400 health is really good, but you need a truck ton of gears to get it, which is really difficult, if not straight up impossible on dst servers. But I do think WX's downsides are pretty miniscule, making him seem like he has no downsides. I want to change that, I've seen like 2-3 WX reworks already, so IDK if anyone will even find or care to read this, but I'm doing it anyways. - Fuel: Fuel is a new item that can be crafted from bone shards, and can be eaten by WX to get 50 hunger each, and 30 charge, which will be useful for a upcoming idea. - Vinegar Vinegar would be used to lower something in a upcoming idea, and it's crafting recipe is up to the devs. - Galvanized coating This will help with the same idea vinegar helps with, and like vinegar, it's recipe is up to the devs. - Charge: This would be a unique stat exclusive to WX, Charge starts at zero when you first begin the game, and can be raised by fuel, and lightning strikes, that will give WX 100 charge each strike, the maximum charge is 100, and if exceeded, will deal 30 damage, and reset charge to 0. Charge is used for the next idea. - Upgrade changes I think that just eating gears for stat increases are pretty underpowered considering what some people want them to be, and sometimes just plain boring. While I don't think we should get rid of the gear eating as a viable source of healing, they won't provide stat increases. Instead, I want to propose a new tab, the Mechanical Tab, this tab is exclusive to WX (Wagstaff too if he ever gets added), and contains his upgrades. These will come in the form of Modules, which you can equip up to 3 of onto WX, and have to be manually equipped, and all equipped attachments disappear after death These Modules could provide anywhere between boring stat increase or interesting powers. And before I go over the Modules themselves that I will propose, I wanted to make them seem more like modules by being able to craft them in levels, or MKlvl#, with the max level being 3, and you are unable to upgrade modules already crafted Stat Module: This is your basic stat increases that you currently get from eating gears, The MK I Stat Module would increase Health by 50, hunger by 15, and sanity by 30, this effect can be stacked with multiple Modules and each upgrade of the Stat Module would add an extra 50 health, 15 hunger, and 30 sanity. Meaning a MK III Stat Module would give you 150 health, 45 hunger, and 90 sanity, this combined with WX's stats would give you a total of 300 health, 195 hunger, and 240 Sanity, and the effect can stack, so if you want to be the beefiest tank you ever saw, you can have a total stats of 600 HEALTH 285 hunger and 420 sanity, which is a TON of health and sanity, though remember each recipe, of which I will leave up to the devs, is different for each level, and you cannot combine 2 MK I s to get a MK II, not to mention all of your Upgrade Slots would be filled up to get this high, which is lame, when you can do some other things. LZAR Module: This module's effects are not stackable, for obvious reason, the LZAR Module gives you the ability to fire Laser blasts from your eyes, this ability requires 30 charge each use. The lazer has a range of 1 pitchfork tiles, and does 20 damage at MK I, at MK II, the range is increased to 2 tiles, and the damage is increased to 40, though the charge used is also increased to 50, and the MK III LZAR Module has a range of 3 pitchfork tiles, does 60 damage, and requires 70 charge to use. Battery Module: Now after the LZAR Module, you might be wondering: "That's a lot of charge! Even at MK I, the lazar can only be fired 3 times before needing to recharge, is there any way to get more?" Well, there is, with the Battery Module, the effects of the Battery Module can be stacked. At MK I, your max hunger increases by 15, and your max charge is increased by 50, MK II adds 30 max hunger, and 100 max charge, and MK III for 45 max hunger and 150 max charge. Speed Module: This module increases WX's speed, duh, this Module temporarily shuts down during a System Overload, which still happens the same way. The effects of the Speed Module is stackable, and at MK I speed is increased by 20% MK II by 40%, and MK III by 60%, this may help offset the downside of WX. - Rust Yes, I know everyone does it, but here's my idea for rust, Wetness is completely replaced by it, except for one thing: Rust doesn't go down after the rain. Each point of rust lowers WX's speed by 1%, and adds 0.1 seconds to picking, mining, hammering, chopping, etc. Rust is obtained when you get wet each point of would-be wetness turns into rust, WX also passively gains rust even when it isn't raining, WX will rust at 1 point of rust per minute, meaning 8 rust points per day, Rust can be lowered or even prevented by the following ways: Eyebrellas will prevent rusting in rain, but not the passive rusting. Vinegar is another method of doing this, WX can right click on vinegar to soak himself with it, using up the bottle, and doing so will lower his rust by 20, other players can soak him too. A way to temporarily remove rusting is through galvanized coating, which will prevent all rusting for 10 days, but all rust that is already there must be removed via vinegar. Sorry I don't have more Modules to offer, and if my downside is too much like the others, please suggest new modules and feedback in the comments. - Dragolantis
  7. I've got an idea while playing DST today. Our soulless automaton would start the game with a new, exclusive to him item that would give him an opportunity to pick one of three new forms in exchange for 15 gears and he would reset to "normal" WX-78 after death like he does now. The forms would be: 1. Knight: 200 HP, 200 Hunger, 200 Sanity (+50, +50, +50) Damage Modifier: 1.10x (+10%) Speed Modifier: 1.10x (+10%) 2. Rook: 300 HP, 200 Hunger, 150 Sanity (+150, +50, +0) Damage Modifier: 1.20x (+20%) Speed Modifier: 0.80x (-20%) 3. Bishop: 100 HP, 150 Hunger, 300 Sanity (-50, +0, +150) Damage Modifier: 0.75x (-15%) Speed Modifier: 1.0x (+0%) Special, ranged attack: Attack Range: 6 (Same as the real Bishop) Attack Damage: 51 Attack Speed: 4 (Same as the real Bishop) WX-78 wouldn't upgrade his stats by eating gears of course, he will still gain HP, Hunger and Sanity tho.

I typed this up a good few months ago when I was very bored at 11 PM. I think what sparked the idea to make this was the in-game console.   10. sooo I have a tendancy not to finish what I start, but I thought maybe making a thread and seeing feedback would help motivate me to finish this, since I really like the idea. I am making a small improvised comic about Webber and WX-78, that's based on the lore behind them. It's going to be a little bit of an alternate-universe, because the personalities and appearances of the characters are a little different. Me and my friend main Webber and WX-78 together respectively so I'm also loosely basing the characters off us. Most notably Webber has a tartan scarf and a slightly altered version of the Gladiator head skin, and WX-78 has a slightly altered version of the hallowed nights skin. (this is mostly just because these are the skins i enjoy drawing most for these characters, and to set them apart from their "canon" counterparts) It will be fairly sketchy and low-effort because I have two other comics I'm working on atm and this is just a side thing to do in my free time. I don't have a page for this done quite yet, but I have sketched out most of the panels and will post it soon. I know it's kinda lame to just make an art post without any actual art in it, so I will post a few of my recent DST drawings (mostly webber)
  11. Just something I had on my head ever since I saw Oxygen Not Included.
  12. So, I'm trying to re-work WX-78's rate of wetness damage, so that it would increase (be faster) the more wetness he has. So, this is what I have: --Declares a variable that is the current moisture of the player character local wetness_percent = inst.components.moisture:GetMoisture() --Determines how long until the next spark happens inst.spark_time_offset = (3 *(1 -wetness_percent)) + 1 The code above would mean that at just above 0 wetness, the rate would be 4 seconds, while being 1 second at full wetness. That is if 100% = 1 in terms of numbers. However, when testing it, just above 1 wetness, the rate starts to become extremely fast. Why is that? Any way I can fix this and make this work correctly? I've been trying to get this working for like an hour now and no amount of change fixes it. It's either too slow at times or way too fast
  13. So, the initial is 1 day, that part of code I have found. However, the consecutive ones are smaller. Would anyone happen to know which part of code controls this and makes it so that WX gets less charge after each consecutive hit? And is this part of the code actually located in wx78.lua or some other file? I just can't seem to find it

  16. I've been incessantly updating my character Pith the Pyromancer and ran into a few problems. My character mod, Pith the Pyromancer, was created just a few weeks before DST ROG came out. Later I updated him so he can be played in Reign of Giants. A few errors have occurred which I have been eagerly trying to fix. But this one leaves me stumped. In the normal DST Pith takes rain damage similar to WX-78, however I realized WX-78's coding is different in ROG compared to the original. I tried to look in the forums to see if the same problem occurred for someone else and found nothing. So, I'm looking for a code that I can simply paste in. I need to know which file, and which section inside the file. Thanks for your help.

I killed him like 15 times and no backpack, I know the chances are very slim, that's why I want to ask you how many times did you kill him to get his backpack ?And it seems to be a bug or something, I went and exterminated 3 towns of pigs ( big ones ) and no krampus spawned ( i heard the hiss but he was not there ) and when i got home, and slayed 3 of my pigs, 3 krampuses spawned near by. One of them killed my favorite pig, Mr.P i have him from day 10 :(R.I.P. Mr. P
