Toadstool Solo Speedrun Kill on Day 13 (original Toadstool before the nerf)

Recommended Posts

Yeah, I really don't want to play as Wolfgang, so ant strat depending on him is kind of pointless to me.

i support the nerfing of this boss because it shouldn't be impossible for anyone but very experienced players to kill him with only two players, but mostly because his drops are such that you have to kill him repeatedly to benefit much in terms of loot. Only one player can use each blueprint and you don't get that many mushroom skins

@SenpaiArtorias @Rellimarual what are you talking about guys? If you play as character with lower DMG just get more bunnies/pigs/lobsters/spiders/whatever or get blow darts, gunpowder, stronger weapons (he is using thelucite club which is kind of meh). Also you will obviously have friend/friends to help so just because he used Wolfgang (for speed run purposes or because he is his favourite character) doesn't mean this wont work as ANY other character. You don't need to do it at day 13 either lol so you can prepare a lot more then he did.

In my opinion having a boss that requires either a larger group of people or a huge amount of bunnies equipped with helmets is still stupid. I hate the 5 minutes mechanic and it just feels like a cheap way to make a battle require multiple people (or a lot of bunnies I guess). I prefer the way it currently works, having it flee after not being attacked for 10 seconds is a better way of encouraging to use multiple people and since it now gains armor when in its enraged form it's really hard to do without removing the trees, so either you still need a group or when doing it solo panflutes (though their effects on it have been nerfed so might actually not be quite as effective) or weather pains to take care of the trees which seems balanced to me. The only problem with this that I have is the health nerf which was unnecessary and just makes it too easy.

I completely understand people that dislike its current form but the old toadstool was just too strong in my opinion.

You don't have to use him of course. And Toadstool doesn't have to be harder, either, if some players wish fighting him was more difficult. They can set themselves challenges like using Wes or no armor or fighting him solo. My point is that the loot he drops strongly suggests that you'll be doing multiple raids against him to get any real benefit, so it shouldn't require saving up vast quantities of stuff to do it once unless you're playing as Wolfgang. Also, it isn't obvious that everyone will have friends to help. Many of us aren't able to play with more than one partner at a time. Nerfing him to this degree seems right to me.

@Rellimarual Toadstool is late game boss and for advanced players since its in caves. If you are not there with your skill you have 09237432897431905390284302185324 features you can do in DST. When you get skill or when you are able to survive in cave for long time you can do this ONE feature.

New Reign should be focused on LATE GAME and not for beginners. EVERY single update until now was doable for day1 players which is ridiculous because it wont take you long and you will be bored from DST because there is nothing to do because Toad is killable 1v1 in first season.

This guy killed him (old Toad) on day 13! If you have problem killing him on day 100 and with just 1 friend then this is not yet for you! Noone said everything have to be for players with skills 1-100

All my bases are in the caves, where I live year round after day 20. The obvious boss for the challenge you describe is the Ancient Guardian. That one should be the hardest, with the best drops. Given the nature of his drops and the frequent respawning, Toadstool should be more of a Bearger or Deerclops for the caves. If you want it to be harder, then make it harder for yourself and fight it alone or without armor and animal helpers, but it's ridiculous to have to prepare all year for a battle that gives you one lamp and a hat.

That wasnt basicly my Point, i sounded maybe a bit harsh. But i was saying u should even possibel to do it without Having Top End Preparation with Best Rng for preparing the Fight That should be only the Case if u want Toadstool as Dont Starve Enboss but hes Optional Boss and for his Terms he was to Unbalanced for Majority Gameplay.

Just Lets say for Exampel someone Starting this game getting better and better survive alot of days after 2 weeks Practice exploring Caves and seeing this Boss firsttime he gets wrecked yeah. But what happens when he trys and trys again without any Accomplish except Losing Preparation Materials for the Fight then u need counting the Rng Fact of generating the world he could have maybe some bad luck on getting Material X/Y for the fight preparation. What Result he need for 1 try of Fight getting resources he need actually Tons of Hours to get it, peopel with some Reallife and Jobs dont even have this time on some point. And thats why u need atleast Balance it in a fair way to kill a Optional Boss without stress every fight out with a Timer and stuff. (Specially when the reward is just some Lamps).
The Actual Mechanic with the 10 sec aggro is a way better way to fight him.

Greetings

- how about you don't kill him? As you said he is optional and noone said this boss is for everyone and noone said that optional should be easy either. There are tons of optional features you can do which are ridiculously easy so go for them plz

- make it hard for myself using Wes or not wearing armor? :D Is this even real suggestion? How about you did use armor and use Wolfgang to make it easier?

- tell me guys how and when did you first time kill DST Dragonfly please (without walls of course) and how many posts did you write about her being impossible to kill

- if there is no time in your "real life" for playing DST then you shouldn't play DST, if you don't have time for 1000 days world then don't ruin it for everyone else please! If you want quick game then DST is not for you

- lets talk about that DST is multiplayer game and this guy killed hardest boss in game (at that time, now its joke) on day 13 alone!

- Toad was OK with 150k HP and 5min (maybe 10) flee time IF he came back with same HP he had before fleeing! This way everyone should be happy because:

1. Everyone can kill him, even Wes without weapons since he comes back with HP from fight before so it will just take more fleeing of Toad to kill him

2. Finally some harder boss. Lets be honest here - other bosses are joke except DF - she is fun and cool fight

3. More players = quicker kill! This supports multiplayer aspect of this multiplayer game which is called DS:TOGETHER

4. you dont need to prepare at all or prepare a lot = it depends how fast you want to kill him but you have options!

It sounds like you're saying "Why should I put effort to kill a challanging boss", tbh.

Which you don't. You just get some weapons, healing, bunnymen. Or, you know, use your head and stuff people figured out about the Toad to your adventage.

I think you're in some sort of argument here with other people, but I'll just answer this because it caught my eye. Me and 4 other friends just wailed on it with Dark Swords until it got angry about us killing its children. Then, we used a Pan Flute to calm her down and begin the cycle of wailing on her anew. Also, before that, we got bored and decided to farm for Scales.

Nope thats not my Point i wrote somewhere how to improve it idk where anymore Dx

I dunno how accurate the mod is, but that's what it showed.

So... are we talking about the same mod?

One comment about this.

There are two "Damage Indicators" mods in the steam workshop.

The oldest one, has indicators that make use of net_byte, so the damage numbers shown belong to the [0..255] range.

The modified one (with chinese description), use net_ushortint, so the damage numbers are in the [0..65535] range.

68 * 2 * 5 = 680, which would get modulo'd to fit into the variable. Bear this in mind for future tests.

For those of you unsure of what that means:

680 > 255, so

680 - 256 = 424, still greater than 255, so

424 - 256 = 168
