( I hope I’ve put this in the correct section. I’m not sure where I’d put a discussion about this.)

Hey everyone,

With the new update to DST, I noticed that all of the other characters call WX They, and Maxwell calls WX Mx.

I wanted to know what everyone thought of that.

I’ve been a fan of Don’t Starve for 3 years now and a huge fan of WX, and I’ve always thought WX was a he. WX genders all of the machines around him, calls copies of himself on the throne brother, and even draws a mustache on his face in his GoH skin, so I didn’t see any reason why not to call him a he.

Now, I’m unsure of what to call WX.

I’m also concerned because I have seen some people on tumblr start to apologize for seeing as WX a he.  I’m conflicted on how to feel about this.

I want to still think it’s fair to call WX a he.

Or at least, he/they?

What do you all think?

I heard that Klei is still working on the player examination quotes, so maybe this isn’t permanent, but I’d still like to know what everyone thinks.

It would really help me out if I could hear what a developer thought as well, but they don't have to.

I see your points. Mostly, I suppose I wanted to know if everyone was still fine with some people calling WX a he. I've known about the it for a long time.

To be fair about the it, the only one who calls WX anything other than it is another WX, which was "BROTHER" on the throne.

I suppose I should have expected replies like this (like that video) , but you know. I didnt see anywhere else I could talk about it.

wx is who he wants to be and i guess that would be 'he' even if other characters don't necessarily see him that way

THANK YOU W.

That's all I really wanted to know if anyone else thought that.

It could be completely fair to say everyone sees WX as an it or they, but between him and other wxs hes a he.  Even if it's just a headcanon.

I've always run under the assumption that while WX is indeed a robot, he was still a "he". Besides, don't you normally unlock characters (experience-wise) in the order of female (starting with Willow), male, female, male, so on? Order-wise (if memory serves me right) doesn't WX fall into where a male character would be unlocked?

I don't think we should consult tumblr about anything involving gender or sexuality.

But yeah, I see WX as a 'he'.

That's correct! and you make an interesting point that I hadn't noticed before, so thank you!

Couldn't agree more, I'm completely for gender equality and respect, whatever it may be, but the majority of Tumblr takes it to levels that makes it really hard to take what they say seriously.

no downsides whatsoever

He loses sanity from each strike.

Base on the desert, raid ruins, use gears for only ice box and flingomatic, live alone.

WX78 starts with 150 sanity, 150 hunger, 150 health. Wilson only has 50 extra sanity.

Don't build lightning rods. Pen mosslings and make them spin to trigger lightning. Amass telelocator staffs.

Oh no.

WX-78 has always been on the strong set of powerful characters.

33 sanity for a day's worth of said immunity is pretty negligible. Especially since another one of his perks is not being affected by food spoilage which means two pieces of jerky will all but fix him back up even if they've been sitting in the fridge for 38 days.

Those take time, effort, and RNG.

Saying that WX is overpowered by having said stats from doing all of this is basically saying that characters like Wolfgang are overpowered because he had enough time to accumulate a lot of food.

Somebody who has trouble finding food will never realize the true potential of Wolfgang.

Wolfgang is a complete beast. If everybody pulls their weight, Wolfgang can stay mighty all the time.

More movement speed and more damage is more time saved and more activities done.

More activities done means more food.

Of course, people that stay sitting next to the fire pit all day don't really understand where all the food comes from.

Playing Mighty Wolfgang in DST is like playing Wilson in Don't Starve thanks to that sweet 2x damage.

Basically, Wolfgang is underpowered for noobs, and overpowered for veterans.

And all that noobs need is to get a single birdcage, wait some days, and go fetch spider dens.

Endless meatballs.

Three easy steps.

Same could be said about WX, I know people that didn't even noticed that he glows while in overcharge mode.

Well, of course.

If you mean that a character has to succeed while the player is completely brain dead, then yes, there's no such overpowered character, because they all starve, even with Wigfrid.

So I concede, there is literally nothing wrong with WX-78.

I never said that, I was just adding to your post that are people who does not know how to use WX as well.

Characters should always be judged as they would be played by a player that can carry his own weight or more.
