DegenerateFurry
Here's how I think the survivors of DST would react if someone told them about the first World War, or if I think they'd have already known, what they did between the years of 1914 and 1918. Warly's Victorian skin puts him in a naval uniform and says he was a cook in a galley, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that, as a likely later arrival to the Constant than most due to being a DLC character, he was on Earth during WWI and served in the French Navy. Winona, meanwhile, probably did factory labor to help the cause. We know she was around during WWI because she got taken in 1919. Maxwell, Wolfgang, Wickerbottom, Wendy, and probably most of the others were all brought into the Constant before WWI and thus couldn't have known about it. If Woodie was around during it, I see no signs of him having taken part in his skins or dialogue, so he probably dodged the draft by living in his cabin too far away to be found. I feel like Wilson wouldn't have wanted to fight in a war if it got in the way of his research, so I put him in the draft dodger category too, and we know he got pulled into the Constant in 1921, so he was around during WWI. Wanda was a late arrival, so she probably knew about it, but she's always getting timelines confused and forgetting things. I feel like Maxwell's cynical enough to not be shocked by the news, Wickerbottom's well-read and superintelligent enough to have predicted it, and Wendy would say something depressing about how it's in human nature to cause suffering and death. Wormwood and Wurt don't seem like they'd truly comprehend the horrors of war. Wormwood's too Wormwood and Wurt's too young. Also, Walter's clever enough to understand it, but he's too naïve to really grasp the horror of it all. WX-78's disdain for humanity and enjoyment of suffering makes me think they'd have enjoyed seeing the effects of chemical weapons on the soldiers in the trenches. They would also have loved to see the first tanks being deployed (viewing them as kindred like they do with so many other machines). Wigfrid's love of combat would've had her be cavalry (before cavalry was phased out) if she was allowed to fight. Willow is probably just upset to have missed out on the first war to feature flamethrowers. Wes, Wolfgang, and Webber (who I feel is probably old enough by now to at least grasp the death toll) would probably just be shocked, and maybe glad that they weren't around to experience it. I think that's particularly true for Wolfgang, who'd likely have been drafted and put up against chemical weapons if he wasn't brought to the Constant. Survival might be tough, but it's a cakewalk compared to what they'd have faced on the battlefields of that era. And then there's Wortox, who is probably in some small way responsible for it as a prank gone wrong. 9 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/66717-maxwell-memes-the-sequel/page/933/#findComment-1789313 Share on other sites

The premise of the meme is that if you mention Wendy's strength/balancing it causes discourse in the beta forums no matter what. This is a fact (go look) I don't think anyone should feel "miserable" from a joke that pokes fun at how popular a video game character is and how serious the character's playerbase is. ie: you right now. My last meme about Wortox also poked fun at how good his initial tree design was and how he's "suffering from success." And now Klei doesn't care about him. Obviously joking because he's going to get the much awaited updates to his Skilltree just like Wendy and Walter. Lighten up, you should never feel "miserable" about a video game, you play them to directly not feel like that. 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/66717-maxwell-memes-the-sequel/page/933/#findComment-1789777 Share on other sites
