hyiltiz
Wickerbottom hates spoilage. Sea sack, just as Insulation Sack, is perfect for countering the spoilage rate, so you may actually cook your food, bring it along and do some more exploration. In Shipwreck, typically you won't end your exploration until Day 100. So, Sea Sack seems very desirable in the first stage of your game. However by the time you did your exploration (get full map), you will have too much gears from the Navy (you killed Sea Hounds, Swordfish at least). So, you could actually put ice boxes all around the map. So, using Krampus Sack, you are able to bring more stuff in one run. Once you reach your destination (normally within a day before the food really starts to spoil too much), you can put them in an ice box over there. This could actually apply to any character, but more to Wickerbottom due to her being picky eater. Any ideas about backpack selection? p.s.: I always get butter at Day 1 among the first 5-10 butterflies, sometimes even more than 5 in 3 Days. Ironically, I was NEVER able to get the Krampus Sack however long I tried the bird farm using Wickerbottom's Strange New Powers. TeoSS69
>chest slot I'm a big advocate of giving up on Backpacks completely after a while. You'll only really "need" them when raiding Ruins or similar expeditions. What the Seas Sack does is make the food last twice as long so you'll be away from camp twice as much. If you think you can be away that long (aka don't need to stuck up on other consumables), then go for it, otherwise it's a waste to craft it. You want to eat fresh food with any character, not just Wickerbottom though, so it's not something specific to her. The bird farm is fine, but not as effective as the monkey farm. All you need is a walled monkey ball surrounded by coffee bushes and a flingomatic. You'll get thousand bananas (banana pops hype!) and meat for the ages. Moreover, Krampus will get frozen if he approaches the flingomatic, so you can easily deal with him. I already have 2 Krampus Sack and I wasn't even trying hard enough.... Mobbstar
Wickerbottom really doesn't have a food shortage after a while, thanks to her books. It's a waste of resources, in my opinion, to even make the Sea Sack. Dumbrella is far more valuable. DeputyDeath
That feel when you had no idea the sea sack existed... To be fair though, it's a copy of one of the worst RoG items. I guess that it's marginally more useful in Shipwrecked if you go to sea for food (killing whales, fishing seaweed), but I really don't see the point of not using a booty bag or a krampus sack if you're desperate for space. The difference in freshness that this backpack will make compared to storing it in a standard backpack is neglible. Why bother? Maybe you could use these things as waterproof fridges for monsoon season. They're harder to access, but you could dump all your food in a few of them if your ice boxes get flooded to prevent it rotting so quickly. stl1234
I agree sea sack isn't useful for carrying items around. However, it isn't entirely useless. It saved my bacon (and eggs) one time where a puddle spawned on the ocean flooded my ice boxes and crockpots. That mistake would have been much more severe if I didn't have an extra set of shark gills to craft a sea sack. But for carrying stuff... krampus sack is the best friend of a hoarder. I usually live with the Sea Sack, which is almost as good as living without a backpack; the inventory spaces sea sacks provides is used up by: coffee, bacon&eggs, chest slot armor, 2 random food item you find along the way. I assume it's because the Coffee Plants have some kind of 'can be fertilized' tag that means the Ice Fling-o-matics will target them, but since they are fertilized with Ash instead, this has no effect. As a consequence the Fling-o-matic will keep trying to fertilize it and fail. In a way its even better as withered cacti function both as walls that cant be destroyed unless turned active and killed, and as a flingo "attractor" Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/66446-sea-sack-or-krampus-sack-for-wickerbottom/#findComment-752871 Share on other sites
stl1234
7 hours ago, hyiltiz said: but why coffee plant works like that? This is because of the game mechanic of "reverse wither", and ice flingomatic's unawareness of it. The coffee plants and elephant cacti "wither" in dry season, which makes them active, and they become inactive when they are no longer withered. Which is reverse of what happens to other plants. Wow, that is a mind twister to grab a hold of. I guess only sealnado can understand why it is implemented that way.
