Upvoted because you play as Webber.

Webber's my favorite. After finding Slot Machine land though I abandoned spider army, and been enjoying the rest of his perks(so fun getting rid of monster meat by just eating it too).

Oh man, that is so gorgeous. Do you leave the lanterns out all the time or are they just there for screenshot mood lighting/night vision? I love how you even have the row of palm trees. Life goals.

All the time. I've seen Glhrmzz do that and it inspired me to do so.

I hate that I can't remove the sandpile in the island because it sticks up from the terrain and it bugs me so hard.

The Palms are my favorite part too! makes it look so tropical. I have 1 above Bob(Also love Bob and the carpeting around the slot machine), and the ones in the entrance who are my favorite.

Its also very functional as a base, and not just for looks.

Wow, that looks so pretty!

I wish I had the creativity to make bases like that :p

I never was that creative, but somehow this time I was inspired haha. Dunno what got to me, but I love SW base building a lot more as well

I always plan to make a nice base as well. Never live long enough to do so though XD

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=632826925 My first base of the run and how I usually do bases, a lot less impressive, I know. (It was close to Yaarctopus at least)

Casino Island was small-ish(big enough to work with, yet not too much), and after seeing my first base get flooded, I went to gamble in the slot machine and thought it'll be my thing for Dry and Moonsoon season. I got a cane on the 15th dubloon and lots of good stuff, and the good RNG made me create this haha.

I don't have any screenshots of the slot machine island before it became a casino though.

I got myself some RoG turf just for the sake of making it even fancier haha

How exactly does the bottle lantern glitch work? I've tried putting them on the ground (switched on) then logging out and back in again ( like the lantern glitch in ROG), but they just run out of light in a day or so.

Yeah, for bottles its different.

Put on ground, wait until they run out, relog.

Recently finishing my base in the Slot Machine island(turned it into a casino) made me want to see how others built their current bases.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=637055950 is mine.

Show yours below if you want.

i wonder if you fought snakes.... :p

You have no idea how crazy was a part of my first base island haha. Snake drops for days. Thanks to spiders not eating snake skin, guess what I had lots of.

Great looking camp there Koala.

Mine never ends up as anything fancy since I'm always on the move, but I do end up with amusement from time to time:

That actually also looks cool haha. I usually don't do fancy stuff either, but, this time something got into me.

Personally i'm not for big pompous bases instead i prefer smaller ones where i got just what i need.

This is my current base in SW although i did make some changes since i took this pic but i won't show that base of cause it's a mess right now since i'm still in the process of making flooring and Sandbags for Monsoonseason.

I just realized that bob is your toucan; that's great haha. And I know what you mean about sand piles... I wish they functioned more like seashells or mussels in that they would disappear and respawn at random so that the house would STAY CLEAN FOR ONE MINUTE GOD.

I actually never built the palm leaf hut thing, is it good?

I wanna see the base after yo're done preparing for moonsoon.

It was either Bob or Two Can, and I am not going to that level of puns haha

It gets the Job done and really helps staying dry if i have nothing better to do. Also since i chopped so many god damn Palmtrees for Wood so i can make flooring i though i might as well use the leftover Palmleaves for a Hut cause really i barely use the Thatchsail compared to the Clothone (also cause i found Yaaarctopus rather quickly on this map so i can get Clothsails for next to nothing).

And maybe i finish of the base today i'm almost done anyway only need a bit more Bamboo and Sand and since i'm almost out of Hurricaneseason anyway i might just do it now and come back when i'm finished.

I have a dumbrella though, so staying dry is not much of an issue for me.

Those are about 30 pieces of wooden flooring maybe a bit less but boy did it take me a good amount of time to get all that wood to make the flooring.

Also Bonus Oceanpalm

I love the sandbag pic. Jesus Palm ftw

Ok, I'm forever going to need two bird cages in my base so that I can utilize that pun regularly.

I wish I could write it on a sign like you can in DST.

The only thing that bothers me about the Sandbagplacement is the ones to the Southeast because they are not at the edge of the Flooring but i placed them down before making the flooring and i have no desire to smash them and collect all that Bamboo for new cloth again.

Also if you squint your eyes you can see one of my farms slightly clipping through one of the Sandbags at the top but that's something i don't really mind.

At least you don't have a sandpile in the middle of your flooring or a puddle that spawns on sea and spreads via nothingness.

True that's why i choose this baselayout cause even if a puddle creeps in at max it hits my Drying Racks what i barely use anyway. Only use them to not waste Jellyfishes i can't use when i need new Spearguns (make like 3 at a time and use the other Jellyfish for Drying).

Here's how my bases usually look.

2016-03-04_00002.thumb.jpg.e2ee65b2a92f4

4x4 Wooden floorboards with 3 or so extra for an entryway, surround it with sandbags to keep tides/floods out.

Place Palm Leaf Hut in the middle (usually that gets build by the floorboards so it's a bit off centre here.

Hold out for a Chimnea rather than a fire pit, keep them close to the hut so you can dry/cool off quickly.

Always put in a Lightning Rod for the rainy seasons.
