Here's how my bases usually look.

4x4 Wooden floorboards with 3 or so extra for an entryway, surround it with sandbags to keep tides/floods out.

Place Palm Leaf Hut in the middle (usually that gets build by the floorboards so it's a bit off centre here.

Hold out for a Chimnea rather than a fire pit, keep them close to the hut so you can dry/cool off quickly.

Always put in a Lightning Rod for the rainy seasons.

I can see that keeping the flooding out is not working haha. (puddles on the wooden flooring already)

Here is how my current base looked like about 30 minutes ago. 2016-03-04_00001.thumb.jpg.dea7ac22f2229Chests behind the palm leaf hut are main resource chests, organized by item type. Chests by the fire pits is the fuel chest. Chests by the base of the lightning rod contain surplus resources (full stacks of resources that otherwise fill my resource chests, such as grass, twigs, logs, and manure). Chests below the bird cage contain crafted/seasonal items. The road leads to a small outpost that is close to a snake & spider & prime ape infested jungle, and couple of Wildbore huts. Between the main base and the outpost (and a bit off the road), there are two bee boxes.

About 20 minutes ago I miscounted the number of volcano warnings, so it doesn't quite look like this anymore.

(Note: This was started before 20 day all seasons by default bug was fixed, and seasons got shifted a bit more when I spent couple of days in the volcano, so it is about 1/3rd way into the 2nd dry season now)

Aaaand this is why I started sacricing EVERYTHING to the volcano haha.

Ah yes, organized chests <3 (I like oragnized chests a lot haha)

I really like this base haha. I noticed most people who commented tend to go for functional bases with some decorative stuff, and not full grand bases.

Actually it's working well enough. The point of the entryway bit is that while floodwaters may spread from nearby tiles, they won't spread into the base proper.

I may have to walk through/around a little water to get home but at least all my stuff remains dry.

Oh, now I get it.

Well, once you get a Dumbrella, wetness stops being an issue anyway(for the most part on land at least)

Well just finished my base with flooring and all so here it is

I'd love to hear how monsoon season works out for you, given that sandbags are supposed to be fixed to keep out spreading puddles -- not just for the machines shorting out but for the mosquitos. I use the one-bag-in-the-middle technique, which protects my machines, but leads to skeeters spawning around the edge of my base, driving me nuts.

Doubt that it will bother me to much considering i survived Monsoonseason without any preperations before (before Sandbags where fixed) so all this really does is give me a slight advantage because my machines hopefully won't shortcircuit. Reminds me i need to prototype Antivenom and the Gasmask before the second half of Monsoonseason.

That being said the reduced drops of Snakes and Crabs not turning into spoiled fish anymore made getting the ressources for both the Snakeskinhat and Jacket a lot more tedious. Probably need to hunt down a few Dogfish and let them rot so i can easily get more bones. Or do Jellyfish turn into spoiled fish when they rot? Didn't try that yet.
