Hello there!

I wanted to know who you think is the best character for Don't Starve: Shipwrecked. That's it.

I like Wendy (never used her in RoG or vanilla) because Abigail is soooooo useful! Snake..check, mosquitos...check, monkeys....check, spiders....double check, bees....check.

She's even better since there aren't any bosses you are forced to fight.

The only downside(ish) is in wet season, where the hostile bees get killed daily by abigail. However, they give enough stingers to last the whole year and distract moneys from my crops.

Who do you like best?

I haven't played Wendy in SW yet but I suspect she would make several aspects easy.  But I voted for Maxwell.  Sanity is a real issue in half the seasons with wetness being a challenge you contend with all the time.  It is a constant balancing act of staying dry/wearing Pirate Hats/wearing wetness protection gear.  Maxwell's only problem with wetness is it might make his tools slippery.

With the problem finding Gold and a good island I think wickerbottom is the strongest, although I just play wendy anyways

As the first person said, the tentacle book was the best book for her IMO. You are correct as well, but i am sitting in base with 6 gold, 18 dubloons and looking for a swamp for reeds to build a birdcage..

Oh, and love your signature :-)

Yeah, Maxwell...never used him for his low health but the sanity-draining part is true. I had a period where i spent the entire flood season at 60-ish sanity, until i spam-made taffy and surf n turf.

Well, I lasted 7 days with wilson and 78+ with webber, so I'm voting on webber. His beard and friends allow him to easily collect silk without risking involvement with poison spiders. Or I might just be really good at shipwrecked.

No other votes for Wigfrid? She can eat mussels, limpets, surf and turf, and seafood gumbo. any recipe that uses meat or fish works, and there is an absolutely huge amount of monster meat and things to kill in shipwrecked. I think she is really strong, especially if you can find a good island, she has no problems gaining sanity or health from killing spiders at night. She also has better base stats for combat, even if you don't build her gold armor and spear she starts with them free and can simply make the normal ones. I've survived hurricane/monsoon seasons without enough rain protection or sandbags, just because I can kill spiders for extra sanity gain.

Back in RoG I loved Willow until I found out Wendy is WAY better and as someone mentioned above: She is even better without Bosses you have to fight now.

Food is even LESS a problem with her, even out at sea, because Abigail kills jellyfish for you just fine, which doesn't even require you to go on shore to cook food (like Seaweed).

Just like with rabbits, Abigail can chase the crabs to you and you can kill them both together - usually even before they have time to hide.

Mobs at sea aren't a real threat with Abigail either, especially not when it hits dusk or even night time.

The only derp side is that she won't dodge falling meteors and usually gets killed by them then, especially on the last couple of days, when the meteor falling intensifies.

She REALLY comes in handy when you discover a group of Gear People  (Floaty Boaty Knights)... just wait a bit further away from them until it hits dusk or night time and then tell her to kick their butts => yaay gears XD.

With them sometimes, as it seems, accidentally bombing each other when they try to hit her, it is even easier ^^.

Another thing you should be aware of is, that Abigail WILL drain your sanity by 50 and thusly you need to time her resurrection/summoning right.

I.e. if you are already losing sanity, because you are drenched and soggy, then I would not try to summon her and keep her in your inventory to prevent her from accidentally being summoned by spiders killing snakes or whatever.

Unless, of course, you already have stuff on hand that will boost your sanity up without a problem (jerky, a flower field, tons of shells laying around  and ready to be picked up, other sanity boosting food or items).

Overall, I think she is one of the best characters so far to play SW with and the only thing you need to pay attention to is her sanity level, when you summon her sister Abigail.

Though, keep in mind that she herself isn't a good fighter and more or less relies on Abigail to do it for her :-).

How do i unlock maxwell in SW? I am max level and i dont have him or Wes.

You don't. You unlock maxwell and Wes by playing the adventure mode in DS vanilla or RoG. Only Walani is unlockable through SW as of right now. 3 more characters upcoming.

Abigail aren't strong enough to tank 12 sea hounds alone during the day thou. Just a reminder to everyone.

I did say during dusk/night ;).

She was never strong enough during the day, because she only deals 10 damage :p.

That counts for hounds and ANY other mobs as well, which is why I put emphasize on the dusk and especially night time :).

Which is gona make SW lights out mode very interesting for her.

3 more!? Where can I find spoilers on them!?

Woodlegs was announced long time ago. Don't Starve wiki should have some on him. The other two characters are in the game files. If you read the forum you should find their names, I can't remember.

There isn't much info on those characters besides their names.

I almost always play as Wigfrid (she has my vote). When i first got shipwrecked i had no idea how to make her work so i avoided it and went with something safer like Willow. But ever since i got more comfortable with how shipwrecked works Wigfrid is definitely my top pick. It's a little harder to get her going early but once you establish a good meat source, it's pretty easy. Sanity and health is easy to regain and fighting becomes a lot less stressful. I've been enjoying Walani also. I haven't tried out the rest yet.
