Mina might have asked what the old man meant my that cow remark, but she's encountered plenty of those kinds of old guys that stand on street corners and shout about how the end is near, and she's figured out it's not usually a good idea to ask them when they mean when they say something nonsensical. Instead, she opted to cheerfully explain what all happened to Judas while he was away. "Well, Lefay decided to split off from the group, Mark followed after her, this old guy showed up out of nowhere, and Vislig caught some rabbits."

"Heh, I'm sure this was the smart decision... alrighty then! Let's get some rocks, eh!" Mark exclaimed happily and shoved his hands in his pockets, taking them out some seconds later, they were as empty as before they entered them. "Oh dangit... I knew I forgot something... I didn't bring any flint with me to make any more tools..." He took his axe out. "And I don't think we'll be able to break any rocks with this... do you happen to have any flint there with you?"

Vilsig doesn't eat; at this point, giving himself a digestive system would be a waste of energy.  Instead, he takes comfort in knowing the group is enjoying the food he gathered.  If I grow their trust, they won't turn to me immediately if anything goes wrong.  He thinks.

(Say, Battal, how do you manage to glitch up the text like you did earlier?)

"Don't worry, Mark. Where we're headed is full of smaller rocks, too. I wouldn't be surprised if we found flint on the way."

Lefay headed down from the top of the cliff and began heading back to check out the rocky plateau off in the distance, leading her through a pack of beefalo. One of them looked rather cross, however. It let out it's guttural, burp-like groan, reared back....

and charged straight at Lefay. Overcoming the initial surprise, she just barely had time to get out of the way.

"Aah!......Mad Beefalo!"

Mark headed down from the cliff as well, barely having time to react as he heard Lefay yelling. "These are the weirdest Beefaloes I've ever seen, and also the angriest!"

Mark quickly ran and grabbed Lefay's arm, pulling her away from the mad cattle. "Why ARE they so angry... maybe... could it be mating season?" He asked himself out loud, then opened his umbrella up above him, trying to make himself look taller, that surely wouldn't scare it away, but could make it wonder if the fight was worth it or not, while giving time for Mark and Lefay to retreat. "Let's back away, at a... moderately quick pace, not to slow, not to fast." Mark whispered to her, as he tried to get more distance from the mad "cow" in front of him, holding Lefay's arm and backing away with her.

"Just let's not make any sudden movements, eh? She wouldn't be pleased" He whispered again, still holding his umbrella above him and trying not to look at the mad Beefalo's eyes.

(AAAAAGH!!!!! I missed so much! ok so I'll just explain what Fid did during the past 2 pages)

When Mark left and said his farewells:

Fid came up to him and quietly whispered to him what the letter had said and that while he really would like to get away from Vilsig, he'll be staying back to keep his eye on him and care for the group should something go wrong. Fid told Mark to stay safe and return soon.

When Vilsig came with the rabbits:

Fid took one... but he didn't eat it... He wasn't sure if he should trust anything from Vilsig! He just kept the rabbits with him.

When the old man showed up:

Fid was quick to say "Hello!"

When Mina introduced us:

Fid quickly shook the old man's hand. "Hi, Tiresias! It's very nice to meet you!"

When Tiresias mispronounced Vilsig's name:

Fid let out a loud laugh! "yknow, I outta call him that from now on... heehee."

Now:

Fid smells something delicious in the air. "Hey, do any of you guys smell that? It smells so good!" (it's the stew Woodie is cooking)

Mark gave a happy sigh, glad they escaped the angry Beefalo. "No problemo... these things tend to be a little bit over-protective of their offspring, so for now the best thing to do would be to go around them rather than through... these are some WEIRD beefaloes, though..." Mark said, emphasis on weird, he's never seen any Beefalo like those before.

(Dammnit.)

"If you have any common tubers, we could roughly skin them and quarter them to add an earthy flavor, with the potatoes soaking most of the broth. If you happen to find any fungi, we could boil those down and let the liquid ferment, then pour the resulting crude mushroom wine for a pleasant sour sensation, with agaric aftertaste, if that's what you prefer; oh, but we don't have any salt for that-"

Corthias stopped herself before she began rambling.

"Ahem. Apologies for that, sir; I had realized I was beginning to go on for a while. If you have any plants of any kind, that'll do for me, please."

Woodie grinned and chuckled.

"And I thought I knew people who rambled...."

"Heh. How about we just go with something simple for now, eh? We can work on whatever it was you were talking about later."

----------------

Lefay put a hand on Mark's arm for just a moment, and smiled.

"Let's not worry about it. We're gonna go far away from them. Come on, i'm sure we'll find just about everything we need over by that plateau."

Lefay left the savannah, heading off to check the rocky plateau.

Tiresias smiled down at Vilsig, his mouth half full of rabbit. "Taste's great, little buddy. Well done." His gaze drifted towards the denser part of the forest. His voice this time was more pensive and careful than anything else. "Y'all'd better finish up eating quickly, though..."

"The eh... What'd you refer to them as... The... 'Wolves' will be arriving any minute now." He beckoned towards Mina. "She knows what I'm talking about. She nabbed a tooth. Wonderfully sharp, those things. Really useful. Do try to grab as many as you can." Tiresias's words seemed less crazed and more wizened now.

Mina by this point had picked the bones clean of meat on her rabbit carcass and was cracking open any 'large' bones to suck out the marrow. She's made a habit of never letting any scrap of food go to waste. "Why?" she echoed Vilsig. "Imminent lightning strike? A gaggle of stampeding giant turkeys? Tallbird migration? Frog rain?" she guessed, listing off possibilities seemingly at random.

(Oh, uh, I got ninja'd and I can't edit. Pretend that instead of guessing as to what would be coming she nodded and remarked. "I know what you're talking about, but I thought they wouldn't be here for a few more days. You'd better find somewhere to hide, Vis. They'd probably tear you up like a ragdoll at your size and with your wounds and stuff.")
