Buyable Character Packs?

Recommended Posts

What would you guys think about a small DLC such as a character coming out?

Not like a free character, but a UNLOCKABLE character such as a method of unlocking them similar to Webber or a xp unlockable character.

However, I do realize that the workshop could have a potential impact on this idea.

What are your guys' thoughts?

I wouldn't really like a DLC that only contains characters. That seems more like a fast money kind of thing rather than a fully fleshed out DLC that expands the game.

True, but what if they did it as like a 0.99 cent thing?

Edit: It wouldn't be to awful right?

I would enjoy that as long as it wasn't like constant. Maybe one or twice but if they just started making loads and loads of buyable characters it wouldn't be cool.

It wouldn't be awful.  I'd rather new mobs for the world though.  I'd probably pay .99 for some mob unique to summer, or spring, or whatever, along with a new craftable or recipe to go with it's drop.    But like cody said, at some point it would be nickel-and-diming people.

I agree that the idea could be run dry if they did what Borderlands II did. Where they just spammed tons of little non-noticeable skin packs. But, me and my two friends love the variety this game offers and I believe the characters are a strong backbone to it since they give you a structured storyline, but it's yours to manipulate and control how it ends. Like for instance when I play Webber, I think of myself as the boy in a spider begging Maxwell for help to only be betrayed and find him in the epilogue to find out he cannot help me. But, it is the path in between I adore

It would be so awful, my inner child would die.

Why pay for a character which one may not even like?

Try before you buy. That's a thing.

Yeah, I just realised how stupid it was XD

Good

You just described...mods. Almost anyone can add a fancy hat or monster or character. Why pay for a character which one may not even like?

As I said, I'm aware that the workshop does have characters, but none of them have styles that fit DS... For instance, Betty the Beating Heart has nothing to do with the world. Also, other characters I've seen such as the abominable snowman and Smiley the Stick Man don't seem to fit in the world. Also, when looking into characters some of them had some features of a character (Icon on minimap, new voice, new lines) not present along with having slightly unbalanced powers.

I do admit though if people made DS characters like Elinor then it would be different.

Can you add mobs with the workshop? I can only find hud mods and character mods so far...

Also, Thanks Guys for the feedback! I enjoy this since it's my first thread. (To be completely honest I didn't even know where to put this thread, but since RoG was a DLC I was like "Okay!")

There were a few characters that fit the DS style, like Wulfe, Wilton, and that one that made it rain when her sanity was low, whatever it was.
