Suggestion for Butterflies on Full Moons

Recommended Posts

(This post was made by myself earlier today in the normal Don't Starve Suggestion Forums, therefore I am Pasting it here for the viewing of RoG players/forumers.)

First of all I think its a pretty cool idea how at full moon you can run around as if it was still daylight, not only is it useful for extra exploration, it allows you to escape a pack of friendly pigs "under the influence" rather than running out into the darkness hoping your torch lasts till morning.

Anyhow my suggestion is on Full Moon, could Butterflies spawn from the Dark Flowers?

My idea is Butterflies will spawn from Dark Flowers as Moths on the Full Moon Nights, therefore you can capture the Moths with a Net and plant them as More Dark Flowers, it adds another quirk to the new Moonlight Feature, plus makes Dark Flowers a proper renewable source as opposed to planting homeless bees near a bunch around a Totally Normal Trees or Things etc.

Whilst on the discussion of Moths in the Moonlight, since Reign of Giants has the Seasonal Bosses, I think Moonlight could get a Rare Boss Giant also. And my Suggestion for that would be something similar to the Moleworms but a Hedgehog version. Hedgehogs are nocturnal and feed on insects such as moths that are spawning, so it makes perfect sense.

Notes: (Since the RoG Bosses are signalled warnings over half a day normally by their heavy growling, it may be awkward for the the Giant to Spawn due to Full Moon Nights not lasting as long as Day and Dawn so the Nocturnal Creature would technically retreat before sighting the player. Therefore it would make sense to "summon" the Giant at Full Moon as opposed to groaning on its approach. This could be achieved by standing within range of 10 Dark Flowers with Moths around them and sacrificing a Moleworm?) Then the Giant would dig out off the ground and immediately aggro the player.)

(I've decided to name the Giant: Molehog resembling the Moleworm but with sharp needles in its back. Shrewhog, looking more like a Rodent with its spikes, or Armahog, being more armoured like a Armadillo with the spikes also.)

Thanks for reading my suggestion,

Kruze.

For Woodie, I think that an item preventing its transformation should be added to the game. Something like holy water or I don't know what that you can turn into an amulet. Let's say the amulet has 10 uses and each time Woodie should turn into the werebeaver, one use is consummed.

Hey, I had a stupid idea. What if, during full moon, Pig King turns into a Werepig King? He won't be nasty and won't try to kill you, but will accept monster food and give you rare loot like gems in return.

I had this idea recently too, got to be careful of the rest of the village though yikes.

Generally pigs go home at dusk, so it's generally not a problem. But looks like sometimes, during full moon, they intentionnally leave the house just to annoy yah.

What I believe to happen is they only "go home" when you're within the same screen or have been in the area in the past two days perhaps? They always seem to off been out when you've been out, the pigs are belittling us with sarcastic intelligence and nasty twilight claws.

Yes, that's what I think too. They go home on the screen, but if you don't check the whole village, heh, you'll have some midnight visitors.

It's already renewable. Just plant flowers and pick it during full moon. Then plant flowers and wait for the next full moon. All you need is patience!

Oh my gosh, wait! You're telling me that all flowers turn into evil flowers during a full moon? That would explain a lot....

Almost all flowers. There are known bugs where not all flowers turn into evil flowers, and when full moon ends, some evil flowers doesn't turn back into normal flowers unless you exit the game and come back, allowing you to take all the evil flowers you need easely.
