I just randomly got struck by lightning. And died.

I have to say, that was probably the most unfair death I've ever experienced. Luckily I had a touchstone, however most of my items were burnt by the fire. It was on my last few days of spring, too.

I was struck 2 times in a row, first one brought me down to half (Was playing as Maxwell), 2nd one killed me. Admittedly, it was partly my fault for not being near a lightning rod. But I wasn't not aware it was possible to be struck by it now.

Do the rain coat and umbrella keep you safe from lightning? Because when I'm wearing the rain coat or using an umbrella and lightning misses me my character says "Safe from that freaking lightning" or something like that.

I was holding an umbrella when both strikes happened. It was the flower one though, so I'm not sure if the pigskin umbrella and rain gear are any different.

Can confirm, rain gear stops you from getting struck by lightning. The lightning will strike next to you and your character will say "Safe from that frightening lightning". Not sure if the umbrella is required. I had the rain hat and pig skin umbrella equipped when this happened. Also, science machines can get struck by lightning and get destroyed and the crock pot can get set on fire as well :'(

Yeah, we'll definitely have to tune the chance for players to be struck by lightning and the amount of damage that it does. Obviously we want to avoid 'cheap' deaths like that as much as possible. As others have said, there is a way for you to protect yourself entirely from lightning damage when you do get struck that isn't the lightning rod. Here's a hint: think about non-conductive materials.

Is it possible that that flower parasol actually attracts lightning? Saying that because in almost four hours of playing the DLC, I've only been struck by lightning twice, and both times I'd had that parasol equipped....and I only had the parasol equipped for maybe half of one game day.

Hmm, bad for WX isn't it? Protecting against rain also prevents overcharging...

Yeah, but the string for the Crock pot is hilarious....

I think it's pretty awesome that Klei finally decided to add the lightning striking the player into the game. I had suggested that during the original beta because it was kind of disappointing it could strike everything but the player.

Heh heh. Aren't those "things" kinda hard to come by?

You can get hit while holding the Pigskin Umbrella. I did and nothing happened to my character, but it definitely hit the umbrella.

Another time chester got hit. It was raining so it went out before he died, but i think there was food in him that went rotten.

Stone armor?

So we have the rain coat and the rain hat made of plastic, the log suit made of wood and maybe the marble suit made of stone.

Think about spring gears...

Umbrella, rain coat, eyebrella...i think that's all, perhaps rain hat...(what about footballhelmet?)
