Omg I spent $250 to get the deluxe version and the three expansions and I'm not even getting everything. I'm done buying crap for this game, man. There's gonna be 20 expansions and 80 mini packs by the time the kickstarter ends.

I used to feel bad for taking advantage of Klei's enormous generosity after paying a few dollars for Don't Starve during the beta and then getting DST for free due to owning the first game. Hundreds, or thousands, of hours of fun for mere pennies. How the tables have turned.

If I add/remove add-ons will that update my purchase date and charge me $10 for the Wolfgang thing or is it happy good times and it will remember what I am owed?

As long as you don't cancel your pledge, you can update it however you want. The way they will check it is they recorded the last pledge number on the deadline, and anyone with that number or lower will get the early bird thing. Even if you pledged $1 on day 3 and later you upgraded to one of the core boxes, you'll still get the Wolfgang.

Edit: found out I was wrong about this last part. You needed to pledge for either the deluxe or standard package before the 3rd day. You can still switch them later though, so changing your pledge will not affect your eligibility

Cancelling your pledge will forfeit the early bird thing, so do not do that. It is irreversible

Not to turn this into the generic thread discussing the boardgame, but they announced RoG, including Wigfrid and all the giants, as well painted minis for Wilson, Willow, Wendy, Webber, and Walter

Do you guys think that there's going to be a mechanic in the board game where I can really quickly keep swapping what hat I'm wearing to marginally increase my DPS?

You need to add that as a comment, the team will surely get a laugh.

My joke landed

Rest assured, they are already laughing on the way back from the bank. xd Fingers crossed that the board game creators and Klei make the most of the funds and that Don't Starve Together directly benefits from this.

That's not clear to me

The painted figurines might mean painted already existing ones

I got confirmation from the devs. You'll get the painted mini with the standard pledge. The goal was met this morning. Congrats :)

I'm sorry but this campaign is getting out of hand. There are already 17 addons added so far (they will probably add more). Don't you guys think this is so excessive, specially to a game that hasn't been launched yet and will only launch in 2027? I backed the project but i'm starting to regret it because it feels like a cash grab. They're adding such a small amount of characters per DLC, they just named the Winona and Woodie pack as CHARACTER PACK #1 so this is surely a hint that there will be many more.. It feels like this will surpass like 1000 times the amount from all DST cosmetics :wilson_cry:

The moment I looked at the campaign I could tell it was gonna be like this. I am not even sure what is it exactly that just screams greedy ks campaign, but this one had it from the start. Had a similar feeling with the darkest dungeon boardgame campaign which was also insistent on adding a seemingly endless amount of expansions and that one turned out to be a huge bullet dodged in the end.

You haven't been charged yet, if you regret it you can still cancel your pledge. I think it's October 2Xth that you get charged.

Yeah I have respect to companies who are game designers and not buissiness men.

(yeah yeah Nintendo and stuff is horrible)

That's a reward on the stretch goals thing. A previous stretch goal was revealing the companion app, and this one is revealing that the companion app will let you play the Don't Starve soundtrack like YouTube lets you do. Although these are marked by days instead of monetary requirements, so they're just features being revealed over time and there's no charade of earning them.

Oh so like the Nintendo Lego Mario app.

I ran to the forums for answers because this whole addons conondrum is making me question my sanity . I need to know how much of the profit actually goes to Klei because that GCU company is really pushing my buttons with all the addons and absurdly costly thingies and gizmos. This will be the world's most expensive board game by the time we are done with this Kickstarter. I wasn't even bothered in the beginning with the fact that the plastic figurines/play pieces from Deluxe package straight out don't look good. And what's up with Wigfrid, they did Wigfrid so dirty oh my gosh! I could somehow stomach that, but the pledge situation is out of control now. I see a lot of people feel the same in the comments on Kickstarter. I am still sitting on my Deluxe pledge but it doesn't feel good 😕The only thing that would make me feel somewhat motivated to support this project is if I knew the majority of profits goes to Klei, I can stand behind that. But I won’t support a company that’s treating Klei like a cash cow.

i dont really feel ok with the soundtrack especially since klei almost gets way more from steam and you dont have to get a bunch of other tat to have the music

https://store.steampowered.com/app/219750/Dont_Starve_Soundtrack/?curator_clanid=112393

also @JoeW can you show this thread to someone who might know something about the boardgame stuff? just like, how hands-on(or off) is klei? are you guys just loaning out the brand or is this a proper collab?

What a few people on klei forums say is not indicative with the actual customers of the boardgame

If you want a more accurate depiction of what actually pleases or displeases people the kickstarter has a filled comments section

uh....i think you quoted the wrong person. your comment has nothing to do with mine.

I doubt the "soundtrack" is actually a soundtrack release. The picture shows it's on the Companion App. I'm 99% sure it's just letting you play the music on your phone, like you already can with YouTube.

Didn't they say this game was going to be cheaper than their previous? How expensive was their previous game where this one is already up to $300+S&H&T for the game and another $200+S&H&T for the extra stuff like the dice towers and mini packs?

Maybe it will be, tomorrow they are doing a final announcement that is supposed to include all-in pledges, which gives you everything at a reduced price (compared to buying everything separately)

I'd be shocked if it's cheaper tbh. I don't know what their other games sold for, but there is a lot more DST content in this thing than I expected

Hopefully the all-in pledge will include the Wolfgang expansion and I get two copies of it since I pledged at the beginning. I will be able to sell the second Wolfgang skin for $400 and recoup the cost of the board game.

Anytime a "add-on" is worth half the price of the original boardgame is my cue to run.

I might buy the base Dont starve board game and diy the rest of the pieces. I might be dumb but im not stupid. They should release a simplied version that uses countdown dice instead of the big cardboard guages. So many bits and pieces just to up the price.

I feel like I looked away for a week and check back to see all this extra nonsense??

Absolutely love painting miniatures, and thought that this would have been a great pickup when they finally released this, but jeez, trying so hard to Nickle and Dime good faith customers on a product that hasn't even reached production yet seems sooo greedy. I see this very easily going the way of Darkest Dungeon, where once they have to ACTUALLY make and produce all these extra pieces, funds run low and company steam gets lower. Not to mention even explaining all these extra pieces to somebody outside of the know on these expansions seems exacerbating, why not just make a product that stands on it's own? Hell why not just play the normal game rather than spend 500 dollars on an experience that'll be just flat out worse than the original?

Like I love Miniatures, I love having them on display (Pictures attached:wilson_blush:), but it's hard to justify ever wanting to pay these prices for a game I don't really want to play, I pay enough for Warhammer as it is.

Spoiler
