Hey everyone.

We have some changes that could break loading or saving for some mods. We are requesting the help of testers to see if anything breaks with their unique setups: World creation, dedicated server hosting, normal gameplay, modded sessions for anything, etc. The more that can be thrown at the game to try to break it the better.

Early in the development of Don't Starve Together, we had created utility functions with a wide variety of potential use cases as a blanket to let the designers work without too many limitations. We have recently re-evaluated these functions and how they could be used in unintended ways. The changes introduced in this beta have been made to mitigate any potential harmful effects the misuse of these functions might cause.

If you encounter any mod related issues in this beta but works outside of the beta please let us know what that mod is with either a crash log or what stopped functioning in it. You can find your relevant crash log files using our helper article at: https://support.klei.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029881191-Logs-and-Useful-Information-for-Bug-Reports-for-Don-t-Starve-Together

While this beta is leaning towards players who use mods, any testing done is appreciated even if you do not use mods.

Let the game breaking begin! :D

Can we get a proper mod support while we are at it, having most of our stuff breaking? Like some official samples, guides for code, and programms devs use, including NORMAL one for animating, everyone hates Spriter.

Workshop is literally dead, nobody wants to learn modding at this point.

Klei uses Adobe Animate which is Adobe monthly paid product.
They picked closest and free to use app.

I would love to have whatever exporter they use as a secondary option in addition to spriter. But I guess they are not allowed to distribute it, or they would have done it already.

Wording is definitely scary, but I can also attest that at least so far, my mods are all still functioning as well, being character and world gen mods specifically.

Seems good at the moment!

This is the “try to intentionally break our game” update, almost every game has these and I use to actually get paid money for trying to break games, with or without using mods.

Heres what you guys need to know: “Breaking a Game” can be as simple as doing something the devs never accounted for.

Such as for example: Trying to drop a newer resource introduced in a recent-ish update over into a pond lake right before the Winter Freezes the lake into Ice.

this is just an example: I can not confirm if it actually crashes Klei’s game.

What I can say for certain though is it’s always fun when developers challenge you to intentionally break their game, it’s even better when they actually pay or reward you to do it (Aka free in game goodies, or physical merchandise swag)

I think Spriter itself is fine for most purposes, but the compiler that puts your animations together into a DST anim file is absolutely abysmal and really really needs an update. Spriter feels pretty good to use once you get the hang of it and figure out how to get around its wonkiness, but that hardly matters when there are a million invisible things you can do wrong that will result in all of your animations entirely breaking once you put them in-game.

They mean to unravel all duplicates of all items that they have duplicates of, not to individually unravel duplicates of the one item your currently selecting.

As an Xbox player who can not take advantage of buying/selling/trading skins on the skin market, getting duplicates or Skin Rarities AT ALL is entirely pointless.

I vote for that unravel all duplicates button to be considered.

Because currently: the only thing I use duplicates for is if they’re eligible to be traded in at the Trade Inn for a higher tier skin (9 common = 1 Uncommon)

Could we get a list of these functions and the breaking changes that have been made to them? It would be easier for mod developers to just review their usage of these functions and check if they are still compatible rather than trying to test everything in their mod.

unraveling mod had filter for tradeable items only so you can unravel only items that have no other use but spools

Does either "Unravel" or "Unravel Duplicates" button work? As for now? We massively encounter "Couldn't connect to Klei" and game restarts after clicking these buttons.

i think right now klei is working on some issues from skin exploits being foisted on users who play in modded forums atm so doubtful. i know a fair number of people are saying they cant unravel right now

I would think they're not going to divulge info about changes they made to potentially block off bad actors.
