I Hate Warly Salt

Recommended Posts

Nothing special to add here, just needed to express my disdain for the way I believe klei really missed a cool opportunity for salt.

1: 25% health is nothing, like at allll. at MOST it's +15 health(not even going to consider mandrake soup so shuddup about it), less than 1 healing salve, and half of a honey poultice.

I understand it's supposed to be like "oh Warly gets less health from food, duh make food heal more!" but 25% is way too low

2: Salt spice was added AFTER salt crystals had a food related use

My main reason for hating salt spice is this right here. Salt crystals, when they were added, can be used to refresh raw ingredients. Now, give salt to a master chef and you'd expect he could refresh his own foods in case they went a little stale right? NO, now you get an extra 0.5 hp from those stale meatballs, enjoy the abundance of healing.

Anyway, I think klei should either make the salt heal waay more if they want to keep it as a healing spice, or (more prefferebly) make salt spice slow down spoilage and add spoilage time back to the food like actual salt does.

Guess you could say I'm...salty... about it.

*And seriously, yes , the salt seasonings would be worth a little improvement*

i don't even use salt that much though eventually i'll get around to salting moqueca solely to satisfy my sanity's decline but christ it's out of the way just for that effect

To further salt our wounds, let's take a look at the salt spice compendium entry:

hmm it says duration 4 minutes, is that applicable to other healing? Like can you eat a salty food and then heal using a poultice for like 35 health, or is compendium just being weird?

Correction: this is the scrapbook entry, sorry

Anyways this is legitimate misinformation but this might be sign of future plans given that its been unchanged for so long

agree, although it did one thing right imo

which is it changes food stats, other spice does literally nothing to the original food, the only thing you should ever spice is powder cakes

Chili spice does give a meal 15seconds of 40 degrees which is something different from its usual effect.

salt is supposed to be healthy, in a way, so i guess gettin extra healing from it does make sense...somewhat...but like, when realy you goin to make it? when you have too many salt from ocean treasures and have no use for them anymore besides randomly putting some salt onto a stack of meat?

eating a extra pierogi is still better than salting it.

theres literally no reason to ever use salt

But you can eat a few salted pierogis in a boss fight to maximize the effect.Ā

Not saying it is good, but it is something.Ā

It gives you basically 2 free repeats for stat foods before it goes below base healing that's what I think it's for.Ā

Which I say is nice because warly does get more efficiency from healingĀ  thanks to garlic. Bisque is probably the easiestĀ  and when saltedĀ  while under garlics effect will give effectively 112.5HP in one dish . Which I think is pretty crazy. Without salt it'sĀ  only 90 effective healing.Ā

Ā

Now with thatĀ  think salt totally should boost all a dishes stats by 25% instead of just hp

But you dont use salt on pierogies... You use them on the new tallbird egg dish, moqueca or surf and turf and only to dimish, in addition to garlic, warly's downside when you are in a boss killing sessionĀ
