Share the most exaggerated thing you've done in this game.

You built a varg farm that produces kbphjillion teeth a second? You killed misery toadstool without chopping trees? You built the highest DPS machine utilizing 60 Winona catapults and 5 Wolfgangs?

No? I didn't think so. Still, share the most original/exaggerated thing you've ever done in this game.

ps: if you're not sure if what you've done fits this thread, it does.

I blew up 3 bosses at the same time with a massively unhealthy dosage of Kaboom (yes the game crashed afterwards)

But this isn’t the first time I’ve done this, I also gathered every propane tank I could find in the original Dead Island piled them up at a gas station, parked every car I could find there and then lured every zombie I could find to said gas station then blew up the gas canisters.

Spoiler Alert: it black screened the game not just for myself, but for everyone online that was playing.

In DST YOU can blow up 3 bosses at the same time too you just have to be careful, bring a wholllllllleeeee bunch of Kaboom & a Panflute to put them all to sleep near each other, laugh as the game struggles to register what’s going on. <3

I am currently working on a “build” in my world to construct a very, well, large apiary.

How large, exactly? Well, I’m still working on it (without accounting I am currently in the process of redesigning it, and then doing it again when they adjusted placement hitboxes to allow beeboxes to be closer), but this is the current iteration of the farm I have at the moment:

image.png.17c7f7ae8c315768cf513c52d090b9f4.png

(For anyone curious on numbers, there’s roughly around 1500 beeboxes in there)

Ninja Edit/bonus: figured I should throw in my bee queen setup, since I feel this may or may not fit into this category of overkill:

Now that DST sever is not woefully underpopulated with bees!

1 random puplic server, random wolfgang blubbering about doin dragonfly and askin where the desert is, then he said he was goin to go to dragonfly....me in my secret seperate base showed up aswell...only wolfgang was there...kind of under prepared given he only had hambat and like 2 or 3 football helmets, he died mid battle, and i was starting to run out of helmets too, so i made the unimagined, makin grass armour mid battle and somewhat able to kite him and killed it mostly alone, dead wolfgang left the game, and i got to make a fire in my secret base no other player knew about....does this count? if not heres another thing

join mid winter, go walk about with the free rabbit earmuffs, collecting resources and even using a scince machine, finding triple walrus randomly...killed 1 of them, and got hat and tusk drop first try before finding base....its the only 2 things i can realy remember

So after doing this i began calculating logistics of doing the same feat but using Durian. Which unfortunately seems far from feasible.

My self imposed Criteria for success is that the Bearger needs to squash giant Durian and then eat as much as is needed to successfully neutralize it. Warly only.

For that I need 2000 durian, whereupon I will need 50 farm plots, which is at least 250 Compost or 2000 rot.

The most pressing problems are:

 - Durian can only grow giant in spring; bearger will be drowsy by then. (Using shadow spray negates the crop yields so i cant spray and have the bear squash during Autumn. Thus the matter is if whether I am willing to also farm 2000 Beeswax...)

- Then of course there is the issue of tending and watering and fertilizing 50 plots at once, ensuring enough grow giant for a successful yield regardless of Rng. While i can spam rain via moslings and one man band the crops the fertilizing is tricky if i lose count (and dont use the Gardeneer hat mod).

 - If the Bear squashing and eating fiesta takes too long, the durians may spoil on the ground as they are fruits. Worse if it rains (which i will most likely be spamming as mentioned).

- im going to have so much durian after this ehehehe

this is nowhere near as overkill as other people's stuff on here, but it's pretty funny so i thought i'd share

this was around 2021/2022, i joined a pub as wanda day 1 and thought i'd try and get the alarming clock as fast as possible. fast forward, i did an... ok "ruins rush" (i got a couple gems and some thulecite fragments, killed guardian), returned to base, and dumped my resources there. big mistake

i went back to the ruins to see if i could get more stuff, and when i came back... GONE! STOLEM! some wolfgangs were making a secret stash and taking precious stuff away from base. funnily enough, they took the moon orb there, so i could see the exact location of it. i made a boat, some driftwood oars, and set sail

i got there, got my stuff (and a bit more as "payment", since they'd left more stuff there), and right as i was about to get away with my heist, the wolfgangs probably noticed the orb moving and went there to check on it. i somehow managed to out-maneuver TWO wolfgangs with driftwood oars, by sheer force of will, and got the HELL outta there

i got back to base, made a shadow manipulator and made my alarming clock... right as it turned winter. everyone but me left, including the wolfgangs

i don't think i've ever got a moment similar to that in a pub again, except when i joined a random server with pvp enabled along with my friends, with the rule that if you're anyone but wormwood, you get brutally beaten to death (by wormwoods). a random wes joined and EVERYONE went on a goose chase to get him

Yeah nothing I've done would beat this. This is wild...

I LOVE dragonfruit. I’ve been in servers where I will spend the entire spring/summer preparing and then bundling hundreds of dragonpies for the other players. I don’t feel about this way for any other crop, just dragonfruit.

funnily enough, I’d usually play wormwood while doing this, so even though dragonpies were my main source of food, it was super inefficient since I didn’t get any of the healing they’d give you.

same feeling to the point that I endured old farms for it, and eventually

The plants are still alive today, but we may have to dismantle them because they're weighing down on our roof and its genuinely about to collapse.

I turned DST into an RPG experience complete with towns, shops, and quests...on CONSOLE. I ran it like a mini-morpg as a sort of admin by dispensing the gold from quests, enforcing rules, and watching for griefers. I got too busy to keep it going, BUT with the help of another player, anyone can download the world to a jailbroken PS4 or PS5 and run it themselves.

Here's the last world tour I did:

I've got to be close to the record of most Lucky Gold Nuggets in a world. That grind was real.

I never do such big projects because they end up being a waste of time or rot producers.
My farms usually have multiples of 20 (20 pig houses, 20 tallbird nests, 20 canopy trees, 40 bee boxes, etc)

I think the most exaggerated ones were the tallbird farm, the splumonkey farm and the fig farm.

The tallbird farm was only comfortable to harvest with wanda, due to her clock range, and she didn't even need the health from the eggs. I guess it's better now that catapults don't destroy walls

(I don't have a proper screenshot of the tallbird farm at hand, but I was taking a screenshot of something else and the farm was near, the idea was to freeze them with the flingo and steal their eggs while they were frozen, not a very pleasant farming technique)

imagen.png.5b8c4ee1adafda8109a85f28031c643c.png

The splumonkey farm became obsolete when they introduced Moonquay. I had made a HUGE racing track with sort of "checkpoints" to make the monkeys all follow me to a killing area. The checkpoints were gates blocked by statues that when opened would refresh the monkey's pathing and would get them closer to the end, where 3 catapults were ready to kill them. (This screenshot was one of the first tests I did, the racetrack was so big that the splumonkeys' pathing AI didn't know how to get to me)

imagen.png.f54781cebda06c396399fa1dcb13707c.png

(The checkpoints for their pathfinding AI in question. You'd open them from the outside and all the monkeys would get stuck on the statues, on the inner side of the race track)

unknown.webp.03bb35353bf0a6983ae6eb8ea4429611.webp

The fig farm was complete overkill. 20 trees that take 16 days each. Each tree gave 3-4 figs, and by themselves each fig fills you up for 12.5 hunger, 18.75 if cooked. Regrowing after 2.5 days. That's 875 hunger points every 2.5 days. 350 points daily if my math is correct? Enough to feed almost 5 players.
Too bad their crockpot recipes have low stats. (The one in the screenshot wasn't finished, there were still some trees that hadn't grown yet)

image.webp.9cf52ccb61b8eeb9f3e0ac7bd3e6cc8c.webp

It was also not a very efficient farm considering 40 beeboxes give the same amount of hunger daily (except for winter ig), and it's easier to set them up imo.

I maxed the rate of summer wild fires and then made a base out of wooden walls. If I wanted to expand to make room for a new building I had to build a new room for it.

An extreme eye sore that I don't have a picture of, but the summer smouldering was hardly a concern. It kept burning my lure plants and my boss statue gallery that were off screen most of the time. Disappointing really...

I modded a modded character to have Warly's abilities and penalties so that I could play Warly even when I'm not playing Warly. To compensate for having additional perks, I doubled the food memory time and increased hunger drain, so I have to Warly even harder than normal.

I set up 10 brightshade gardens complete with 4 houndiuses on docks in each garden to easily dispose of deadly brightshade waves in my long-term world. I also built a giant dock fort with 8 houndiuses to cheese lunar mutant bosses which I was too lazy to fight myself. After using this setup and amassing a crazy amount of brightshade husks, sparc arcs and other rift materials I just went ahead and covered my entire world in wooden signs, blocking all rift spawns. So now 48 houndiuses that I placed in various spots of my base are just sitting there and not doing anything for the past ~3k days of my world. I could deconstruct them but I don't really have any other uses for them and I might get another reason to allow lunar rifts to spawn in my world someday again.

oooooh! i remember this and i still occasionally think about it<3 i am sad they had to be dismantled but it was a grand ride when you were still posting about it all the same~ is it possible to jsut cull them back instead? or have they become to great at the base as well?

not to worry; dragonfruit branches can become new plants so i could probably have sixty more plants (if i had the space) when everything is done!
