Klei should cancel Benevolent Rabbit King and here is why

Recommended Posts

I think the title already says it all. He looks very out of place, not just he doesn't fit in the From Beyond, no, he looks like he's from a mod. He practically doesn't correlate with nearly ANY other mechanics in the game. Maybe he's a bit connected to the bunnymen and other rabbits, but it's such a weird and niche thing.

The items he sells are useless. The horn thingy has only 3 uses and Chester is much more convenient and just cheeper. If you need more slots, you can make him shadow Chester. The carrot coat isn't that bad tbh, but I don't think it's worth it. Basically more specialized one-man band. And the Warren Wreath... should I explain why it's useless? You need at least one rabbit to craft it, so you must ALREADY have a trap. If you caught one rabbit, it's not that hard to catch a couple more. In the end of the day, why do you even need picking up rabbits? Nobody needs more than 4 for a pestihatitator.

His bossfight is just weird and boring, he spawns 3 beardlings and then jumps at the player. It feels just tedious and uninspired. Also his animation and designs kinda suck, but it's subjective, I think.

And the last but, err, kinda least, his drop: the rabbit king crook. I suppose it's not finished for now, so I can't really have an opinion on that.

Overrall, it's just a very out of place boss and mob. Also the way to spawn him is just weird, who would think about putting a ridiculous of carrots in a rabbit hole on their own? He is a good temporal addition to the game, like for an event or a real life holiday, but he would fit into Newhome, I think. So yeah, these are my arguments. If you have anything to say against or not, please, say

I think at a certain point we gotta accept the dst of today is not the dst of yesterday we saw this with character refreshes, new characters, moon quay, the rifts, and skill trees already.

It's not the “oooooo I don't like new thing only because it's new, oooooo”. I like other things from this update, like the axe thingy or the shlop guy, they are cool. But the rabbit king looks like he ran away from a Minecraft mob vote, he is a minor out of style mob

Fully agree

It's so hard to even read your post. The rabbit king is great.

If anything is out of place, it's the counterfeit pugalisk that isn't even a snake.

That and the flimsy wood bridge that should have a structure a tier above it in the stone bridge.

Rabbit king's only flaw is having a complete and utter barebones existence. But I can't speak on that since I'm trying too hard to get stone bridges added into the game. Someone else will need to champion rabbit king's improvements, but as he stands, he's a fantastic mob and the design is impeccable.

I mean this applies to everything I listed multiple people had multiple reasons to not like the various things added and I imagine they wouldn't want to be boiled down to "I just don't like new things" either.

I feel like a lot of people are forgetting the key most important part of the lore of DST…

And that would be that at the start of the return of them, the freaking MOON broke apart and fell into the oceans of DST!

This caused a “Ripple” Effect throughout the Constant, it Terraformed the Oceans, and Leaked into the Caves.

Mutated Food into living Creatures etc..

Do you Absolutely NEED rabbit king to be Canonized? Funny Rabbit ate or drink Funky space Carrot/Water, or lived too close to the Moon inflicted Ocean and water leaked into its burrow hole.

The End.

out of place on the cave update? yeah sure, hes probably a left over addition that couldn't make it on previous updates and got added now. But out of place in the game?? Nah you are trolling hard my man.

Im not even going to use newer mobs as an example here: have you seen mobs like the... moosegoose? Werepigmen? Woodie's forms? Have you seen mobs in DS Hamlet like the hippopotamoose? What so "Out of place" about a rabbit that has goldie horns?

Rabbit King doesn't look out of place at all, he literally looks like something you could expect from as early as like, pre-RoTG DS.

Comparing Chester to the horn makes no sense here, both are completely different things. When it comes to multiplayer servers, Chester is an unique mob, if someone else has it then you don't. This horn thing is better comparable with Maxwell shadow box thing, and compared to that this horn is an early game alternative that won't require a specific character. I do agree that it could use more durability but, have you seen the cost? Its pretty much free, 4 carrots and 1 reed, you could fill up chests of that thing by just collecting carrots while walking around, let alone if you plant giant carrots.

I don't really see the problem with him, it's a side content that while he isn't very themed to the shadows, it's just to give more tools for players, the same way they add QoL changes on other updates.

The chest holes is really for item sharing/delivery when playing with friends, allowing people to harvest items that are tied to a biome or some part of the world without requiring to sacrifice inventory slots or multiple journeys.

Pigs have Pig king

Rabbits have rabbit king

i don't see the issue, they're very similar mobs

For the sake of fairness I vote we should be able to kill the pig king.... there's no ulterior motives honest florp...

He isnt a mob from beyond

He is correlate to other mobs having q "king" or "queen" and with other mechanics like trading with pig king or fighting like beequeen

Is awesome for stuff like ruins or good gathering. Is a safe place to store a lot of stuff that takes 1 singke slot

Year of.. events are for minigames, the only time they is added a boss was in the year of the varg because there were modest times.

Ofc is a random thing, is there any need to have excuses or update arcs for adding content? A lot of cool stuff can be described as random

Instead of asking months of work to be directly deleted, Give them feedback of what could be done better. This is just destructive criticism with no line of thought behind it other than "it is bad, nobody is going to use this". Everything here can be tweaked for the better but we need better and more constructive arguements and feedback than putting a stop sign infront of it.

Nah, you're right, I should've made something more construcitve, my bad. I just don't like him in general, he looks very off, his theme is weird and he just looks like he was made as a mod or something like that. Maybe it's subjective, I'm not usually a hater and stuff, but he just... Idk

It reminds me of one of the unused assets for the Datamined DS NewHome Mobs, which is scary… because while NH had several cool looking mobs.. it also had a bunch of really ugly ones that looked goofy and very out of place for the “Tim Burton Esque Game”

Now if this Rabbit looked more closely to something out of Alice in Wonderland, (or that EA made horror Alice game) wearing a little top hat and looking twisted and demented as heck..

Id say that would be “Tim Burton” enough to fit into DST.

Bonus points if it had farmable watch parts for Wanda.

I like the new rabbit stuff quite a bit. It's a little rough around the edges as everything is in this beta atm, but from what i've experienced, i really like it. it's given rabbits and bunnymen a touch more relevance to their existence and given carrots nice small niches as to before a pretty forgotten vegetable.

The new sabre makes bunnymen panic and does more dmg iirc in exchange for losing your sanity by killing them. it's a nice new way to get bunny puffs without being in danger of being gnawed to death as bunnymen have always been a bit vicious.

If there are some changes i would like it's that:
we would somehow be able to relocate rabbits with the new wreath hat, so we can make a more established rabbit farm, i think there's some potential in that as rabbits have never really been a great food source due to the placement of rabbit holes being very spread out and sparce depending on where you are. But with a bit of work, i think it can be manageable.
Maybe killing bunnymen with the sabre could have more chances in getting puffs? Maybe killing rabbits with it could give more morsel. I'm just throwing ideas here really.

The carrot cloak thing should make bunnymen like any character or just not have the scent of meat when you wear it. Giving it more of a reason to use it as anyone without in fear of being killed.

I don't like how the texture is low quality and the animation quality is even not that good. Like the dropkick attack it does just abruptly cuts to it being on the ground if it hits and there's no smooth transition.

It being a "shop" is also umimmersive and dumb to me. If anything the player should get blueprints or unlock the recipes after slaying it not "buying" things from a rabbit it's not even a hunchback that would make it somewhat believable... also it does 75 damage? are you kidding me lol rabbit has the same amount of force behind its kick compared to deerclops crushing things with giant arms and a barrage of icicles coming out of the ground:wilsondisapproving:

I quite like it myself. It's like something out of a folktale.

It has be an end-game item with high stats / numbers in the tooltip that is obtainable on day 1 for the average forum user to find appealing.

I might be in the minority here, but I have been waiting for a rabbit update for a while. They are the main follower faction in the caves. They even have pretty common villages, so it makes sense they would get attention in the cave update. They are a small part of the game now, but they could change that with more work. It was a good idea to try and make them a larger part of the game. But I feel like the update needs more if that is what they are going for. If they want to change the underground, I could see super-enhanced beardlings mutating when the rifts are open. They could even add Lunar rabbits to help battle the shadow-corrupted post-rift caves.

Also, I personally don't see the problem with how he looks. I mean, yeah, he looks a bit ridiculous and
I admit the game has gone a lot more horror themed lately. But I think he is on par, looks-wise, with a lot of smaller creatures in this series. Birchnutters, Carrats, Naked Mole Bats.
