THE NEW "BOSS"

Recommended Posts

Yay! This boss doesn't have "use one spesific hand slot item to counter one spesific atatck from the boss so you can stun it for five seconds". Just a good old kite until you find an opening boss. You can also run away to pick up lightbulbs to drop on the boss, so you can hit it while it is eating the lightbulb. Good to see they are not going to go with the boring stun fights strictly!

The only requirement to trully be able to hit a boss was a torch...the other ones have non mandatory stun mechanics requiring planar weapons which...you likely would use them against but again (and BS staff make it so damn easy...), you dont need to stun bearger or the varg to have a good dps on them

I dont want every single boss having the same combat mechanics but your comment sounds worst than what it is

1 attack that you counter through 1 way, it's not a boss, literally more boring in comparison to dfly from 2015

You should be glad I’m not designing it… as many spikes as that thing has all over it… it could completely bury itself in the ground and have the spikes chase the player for like a Shark fin Underground.

Or perhaps even more devilish :wilson_evil: it can Explode those spikes out of its body sending them flying as projectiles all over the place.

I play ALOT of RogueLite/Like Games and that particular genre is Notorious for Boss Fights that require the player to be standing in a specific location to avoid damage from a bunch of flying on screen projectiles.

I grew up fighting Metal Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog.. who had a “send out spikes attack” where player needs to stand in a certain spot to avoid being hit by said spikes..

Becareful what you wish for…

I could EASILY turn this thing into a full scale raid boss, I’d Even throw in that new weird sticky goop mob thing that they added to Rifts, this Worm could spit those at you like acid balls.

if its just goin to be like a mini varg then it honestly sould be weaker, dont understand why it has spikes, unecesary i feel like to get artifical difficulty so you cant attack it but have to be forced into a spesific way

A normal Hound has 150 hp and a Varg has 1800 hp, while a deepworm has 900 hp, so a giant worm should be a force to reckon with.

ok? but heres the thing, for hounts you could do multiple things, run to the pig village, run around beefalos, run to your theeth trap area...what you do for giant worm? the followers i feel like are goin to attack the wrong spots and kill themselfs and if not, the worm is not standing still alot and it can just hurt damage everything by just moving, because of those spikes i realy feel like were unecesary

Your supposed to feed followers to it to inflict massive damage on it that's the intended strategy for example feed 1 bunnyman to it and watch the rest maul it that being said it's damage output should be lower.

Not sure if you realized but don't starve has changed years ago at least this is very cool gameplay wise.

Also others have already suggested interesting interactions that might get added to the fight.

You dont need to use followers. You can place something on the ground (like a light bulb or something) then wail on it.

Serious question, but how is there not a post with outright revolt about this needing to be a bonafied boss?

The caves are empty, it severely lacks bosses (ie AF and Guardian are locked behind some cumbersome steps/respawns)

This guy is one of the coolest "bosses" the games had in years

Do something with the empty caves, tinker with this guy a little. And make it a real boss.

If it was going to be an actual “boss” and to coincide with the upcoming BeetleJuice 2, it would obviously be a Surface boss in the desert sands and have a cool BeetleJuice sandworm skin.

What?? It’s not like Klei hasn’t done collabs before.

Which wouldn’t solve the problem of caves not having bosses. That’s a lie though.. caves have several completely optional boss fights.. Toad, Nightmare Pig, Toad Part 2, Ancient Guardian, AFW.

This would be the caves first SEASONAL non-optional Boss. (Like Deerclops)

You literally just combined the three mobs klei have already shown - not your ideas.

I hope someone mods it into a Beetlejuice sandworm ^^ (sorry for consoles, but I would adore to have one of my beetlejuice wormies just for the fun of it)

If it only spawns rarely I think it is a good spot right now. Powerful, intimidating when catching you off guard, posing a threat if you ignore it completely, yet doesn't require tons of preparation to counter. Didn't the devs say it will spawn in the ruins only...? Plus the fact it only appears once rifts have been activated. The concept and execution is top-notch. Need further details to give a final verdict but I am under the impression that Klei pulled it off extremely well already.
