Besides being a 1v1 item like Void gear - I don't understand the point of WARBIS armor.

Recommended Posts

It's fairly cheap to repair which is first thing to say and I like it for that specifically for that, but the bonuses for it not lasting I don't understand what other point is there to the item. It loses tracking fast, some things kite you out of it's range, it's not too applicable against groups of enemies for it's bonuses besides just good for lasting longer compared to many other armors.

The bonuses take forever to set their target, meaning the target will likely get away faster than it can give the bonuses to fight.

I think there's some QoL changes needed for WARBIS, adding things like multiple targets or change targets quickly enough get at least half of the bonuses after killing one. Maybe the target you hit first would need to be killed and to be in combat with it for some time or it'll shut off or change targets if you won't do as the machine says.

It's very clunky for what it is, lacking consistency and having enough time to get it's benefits. It's good against bosses that don't move around as much, but those are the weakest kind usually.

Killing nightmares with it makes WARBIS lose tracking from shadows teleporting.

It's a mess for what it may potentially provide, very clunky to use to get all benefits.

warbis gear is a cool design, the problem is not being available pre-rift.

scrappy should drop blueprints for them at anytime and also the recipe shouldnt cost a shard?

Aye could replace the shard with restrained static that way you only need to kill CK to unlock it without having to beat CC at least 3 times.

I will have to agree with the points made on the matter of clunky-ness of the armor itself, I would love to suggest it interacting differently based upon it bein on console or pc, but I think sweeping changes rather then specifically target platform changes would be better.

Pros of the armor -

  1. bonus damage and speed as you fight a target (when both are equipped)
  2. materials to repair the armor are not terrible to acquire
  3. 85% dmg reduction with some planar, pretty good

Cons of the armor -

  1. Multiple Celestial champions killed beyond the first if you don't want to sacrifice the crown just to make it.
  2. When it shows up and the likelihood of you getting it before the bright shade armor leaves it in a position where it could be forgotten out right (especially since the 20% dmg buff doesn't apply to planar dmg)
  3. The target focus system drops the moment you swap, or the moment your target dies. In common combat, say against Werepigs, hounds/vargs/varglets, spiders/spider queens, It sees a lot of issues. Heck even against some bosses like dragonfly, fuelweaver and beequeen (new crabking if you feel the need to fight him again) make it very jank to use as well. Just not worth the complications really.

My honest recommendations would be for the armor to have the option to be upgraded with late game materials or temporarily overcharged with them to give it some augmentation and choice in what you want out of the armor. The head armor piece of the set could stand to have a cooldown adjacent to the Void cowl, where the buff is maintained for a period after swapping or the targets death to allow for better use. (perhaps a number of hits would allow for quick retargeting)

Honestly, most of the issues stem from errors in combat, if those where changed I think the armor could see more use.

warbis should be available earlier for it to have any semblance of a place in the game. But that's just my 2 oincs. Hell, even 1 oinc; I don't really care if it's a junk item ala belt of hunger and pudgy beefalo.

I've come here to say that we should get hamlet assets in dst already. the time has come.

warbis armor could have a perk of just memorizing the species of the mob, giving bonus damage to all of it's kind.

it could wear off when the player is hit or takes off the armor? (imagine it malfunctions or smth.)

It's already been said, but Klei really should have made Warbis gear available pre-rift when they added Scrappy Werepig. Especially sense the damage boost it gives you doesn't increase planar damage, which you also unlock by killing the Celestial Champion.

Another change I think would help it is if it had an extra damage resistance against lunar enemies to reflect Dreadstone gear's extra DR against shadows.

85% resist isn't even bad. Repairable on demand too.

I dont get why klei goes out of their way making a complicated fomula and content arround that formula to nerf damage buff stats, instead of changing how buffs are applied, but suddenly they release an armor piece that gives 20% damage buff which only really benefits the characters they were looking to nerf with such new mechanics...

Yes, please!

I agree, we can craft dreadstone armor before shadow rifts, the lunar counterpart available before lunar rifts could be WARBIS armor

also if its not going to cost a shard then increase the Scrap cost to x24 because we're drowning in those things

there usually isn't much scrap before lunar rifts, might not even get enough to make it

Problem: fighting on console is more difficult than on PC grrr

Solution: give console-friendly gear after beating the longest quest line in the game

Well at least it isn’t locked behind FW.

Agree (it even fits thematically since his other version drops another armor set) but at the same time his drops feels like wasnt complete. Only drops one of his weapons and has a post CC upgrade with no benefit

the WARBIS was something made for the console players to help them out. (Even though I never seen anyone use this set)

It’s a late game item, console edition players (in my experience anyway with a good majority of them) are casual players, casuals barely make it to Winter.

But the important take away from this entire conversation is that it was an Armor added to the game to help Console Edition players play the game better (QoL?) and if it was indeed intended to be QoL then it probably shouldn’t be acquired so super super late game?

Theres really no other discussions that can be had about that..

got around 20-24 practically every time, maybe my luck's bad

oh I think I made him throw alot of junk piles actually

still, there's barely anything todo with the Scrap item

I believe since it is supposed to be a upgrade to the brightshade gear it should be crafted by combining scrap with the respective brightshade piece not enlightened shards ps i really want in some kind of shadow half of host of horrors with a warbus gear equivalent

I also think WARBIS sets needs its unique melee weapon or tools. Carrying Auto-Mat-O-Chanics just to repair armor only is a waste of inventory space.

we need scrappy's mace for players to use.

maybe have it a planar melee/hammer hybrid
