No Hallowed Nights?

With less than a week away from the real life holiday, my spooky spirit has dwindled. Host of Horrors is great, and probably the best update they put out this year. I wish they gave more love to Hallowed Nights, there’s so much potential! Now with giant crops, we could get something like a giant Jack-o-lantern boss, or some in-game task to grow pumpkins for a celebration/summon a new boss. 
 

Winter’s Feast received a rather generous update within the past few years, with the addition of Klaus & the gingervarg/cheer/feasting mechanic. Hallowed Nights has remained virtually the same since its inception if you ignore the lunar essence potion. It just feels quite odd that the Year of the ____ updates get more content than the Halloween ones. Thoughts?

There will be Hallowed Nights, they said they'll have news for us soon.

I don't expect any new stuff for it, though I would like it if there were. + I am hoping the art event will happen again, since the new mutations provide a lot of inspiration this year

I agree. Although I don't think they need to add anything new each year, it would be nice for the seasonal event to start weeks before the actual holiday.

I’m going to assume they’re trying to get the Host of Horrors/Hallowed Nights update out on Nintendo Switch (since they’re supposed to get the HoH update this week or next..) So that all game platforms get to experience the hallowed nights event at the same time.

Im ALSO going to assume that since they’re delaying it till the last couple days in October rather than just flipping the already existing content back on (which you can toggle on at any time in world Gen settings) that there’s actually going to be NEW content this time.

Now rather that’s new in game event content (like reskinned bosses or spooky new features) or just new skins remains to be seen.

Yeah just regular ol' garden-variety Hallowed Nights would be fine, for me. It's just that they're starting it REALLY unusually late this time. Like, wow late. Especially for a game whose overall atmosphere is kinda Halloweeny in general anyway.

I just want stuff like this:

From, I think, my very first Hallowed Nights in this game. Costume + turkey on the screen = Happy Fall in General, everybody!
(Or Happy Canadian Thanksgiving, since that's also in October.)

One of my faves: Death Willow and the Floof. (Hallowed Nights 2019--I just barely got my black cat skin, my Wednesday dress and I LOVE that rusty-scythe skin for the pickaxe. Use it ALL the time. Mainly for Wendy. :P)

My other fave Hallowed Nights picture--the full moon lighting really adds something. (by taking something away--namely, most of the color). Almost looks like an old black-and-white TV show still.

Wow, way to shatter my hopes and dreams  Hallowed Nights has remained largely the same for years, and it sucks.. because now that the event can be toggled on/off at any time you want to play it, it’s no longer just a limited time event. This is now considered permanent core gameplay content.. and thus- I’d really love for it (alongside Hallowed Nights and Midsummers Cawnival) to get updated with new content every year or so.

I mean hallowed nights is pretty much completed at this point and i think dedicating time and resources to adding new content for it every year would shortchange the core content updates development time. 

Like someone said a new potion or something would be nice and thats all i would really want them to spend their time on. Maybe a new small additional gameplay mechanic but nothing major.

Hallowed nights still serves its purpose for new players and pub servers and of course the skin drops will most likely be hallowed nights related. I think thats good enough honestly.

I would like to knock at the doors of Pig Houses and get candy when wearing a costume. And I want to throw eggs at their houses, if they don't give me anything (receiving manure they throw back at me). Also some more decorations and maybe a witch with a spooky house in the forrest (how about Waverly?). Midsummer Cawnival and Winter's Feast has so much more content, Hallowed Nights is feeling always so bland compared to them.

Ohmygod, the trick-or-treating thing is SO adorable. Heck, there's a set piece in the game sometimes that seems to hint that roving bands groups of trick-or-treaters might have gone around together, at some point:

Unless that's no longer in the game, I dunno. Anyway, yeah, lets open up those pig houses, for just one time a year! Let's put decorations on things (there are MULTIPLE Halloween-reskin-related mods out there)! The Pig King gives you candy for random items but...how cool would it be if you could trick or treat from door to door, like Ye Olden Times (of a couple decades ago)?

...and as for the egging their houses instead: Finally, FINALLY, we could have revenge on the pigs for douchily turning off their lights on purpose every single time we come near. :P

I would love Giant Carved pumpkins.

 

Also maybe you could wax regular jack-o-lanterns to prevent them from turning into rot, but you need to refuel them or they turn off.
