Void and Brightshade gear making Nightmare fuel and glass lose a lot of value?

Recommended Posts

Something I've noticed as I been stockpiling nightmare fuel and glass as of recently, while utility wise amulets and other are still useful to have nightmare fuel around, glass on the other hand only on occasions good for making statues or axes sometimes.

My point is that majority of the cost of both materials been replaced by repair kits and lategame gear and my question if we will be seeing any use of both of those polar opposites of materials for building or refining?

An idea I have for glass is making glass castle looking like walls with that greenish blue tint and beeing see through, might make some cool frail decor to have around or cheap walls for abusing pathfinding or pens. As for nightmare fuel perhaps a machine to be able to process it while mixing in pure horror in it to make dreadstone? Kinda like a ice maker but for eldritch stones to crystalize.

I really wish they went with their idea of moon glass walls in the archive development images. Would have been cool to have window-like walls, even if they were tinted green.

As for how I feel about the resource devaluation, I personally do like it quite a bit. It’s nice to not need nightmare fuel as much as prior in exchange for engaging with the post-rift content. Unsure about moon shards since ever since the moonstorm those have already been immensely abundant for me.

The stockpiling of moon glass isnt because it's not as useful, it's because there's like 2 items in the game that actually require it. On top of the fact that CC drops upwards of 100 glass per kill and it's not hard to understand why you feel like you've been stockpiling a ton of glass.

Nothing wrong with older resources becoming less useful as you unlock newer higher tier resources imo, that's just game progression.

I mean, for the giant chunk of people who cant beat CC and FW, nightmare fuel and glass will always be relevant.

And even for the people who can beat them, they will still be relevant for a large portion of the game. Like above poster said. I call it game progression

Id say the only people on who it loses relevance on are like the top 10% who consistently rush thru the game and completly ignore glass swords/dark swords and go for good ol hambat in the meantime

This was a trick old school RPGs played, distracting you with higher numbers while your units are doing the repetitive actions from start to end; warrior smacks, healer heals, mage spells, you’re not progressing, it’s a hamster wheel.

Doesn't the new gear also introduce new mechanics though? And while people have reasonable gripes with planar defense/damage the reap effects of the scythe or the multifaceted nature of new tools is more than just a bigger number.

I'm not excited for any of them yet, a new item could change my mind, but each of us have our own assessments, and may be playing the game in different ways.

Don't do that. Don't give me hope. - - )

I'll say it. I want this game to be minecraft. There, I said it. Let us build roofs on top of walls.

This game was already known as "Tim Burton Minecraft" even before dst. Why not give us the ability to build a house?

i think there was a mod out there that added 3d blocks you could place like in minecart, including roofs! and not like hamlet homes! anyway, its fine for things to be not as good as you progress the game, that's how games work. and like a spear gets devalued to the point of being useless against things like bright shades, so we need have every weapon do the same damage! *ahem sarcasm alert.

Moon glass was always worthless, so that stinks but nightmare fuel was one of the most valuable resources to have at all times almost ever since the game was a thing so I don't mind that being devalued at all.

As long as the game has the codex Umbra, Alarming Clock, Magiluminescence and bone armor, the nightmare fuel will never be devalued.

Pure horror still does devalue it, not by a lot because it's harder to amass in a fast way but it refuels stuff twice as efficiently per item compared to the fuel.

just sit outside an active cave rift and spawnkill all the fused shadelings: just doing that for an ingame day or two easily nets stacks of pure horror

yeah but you need to go out of your way to get it, nightmare fuel can be stockpiled while doing other stuff, but yes, I know that you get a LOT for camping the rift
